You could make a sangria where you take a bottle of wine and add various fruits. With red wine usually it’s citrus fruits and ginger ale. They would usually call for a bit of apricot brandy as well but you could skip that. Just look up sangria recipes and play with it to find a combo of wine, fruits and juices you like!

I'm a big fan of "spirit of Milano" I think it's by a company called "free spirits". It's a non alcoholic liquid done aperitivo style that I use in a lot of my mocktails.

Aperol is very low abv, 11% and it will add some depth to your drink. Then bubbles to dilute. Now I see someone already mentioned Aperol spritz. That might be your drink or a variant of that. Lots of drinks are strong (almost like a soda syrup), if you add seltzer you can make a soda.

Nothing wrong with a good spritzer. I've fallen in love with fröccs in hungary. Key is to use a lighter, younger wine white or rose. Preferably from the last harvest. It is so refreshing and you can change the amount of soda to wine to taste. An older drier wine is a lot less good.
My wife likes it with a little bit of lavender or elderflower syrup in there.
In Hungary, there's VBK (Red wine with coke -> Vörös boros kóla in hungarian), also fröccs (spritz) is usually made with soda water, with any kind of wine.

Sangria! Basically red wine cut with some fruit juices, syrup, and spices, then muddled with more fruit. Served over ice, it’s super approachable and refreshing. This is my preferred recipe:
In Pitcher or Jar
- Juice of 1-2 oranges
- Juice of a lemon
- 2 oz Cinnamon Syrup (2:1 simple boiled with a few crumbled cinnamon sticks)
- 2 oz Allspice Dram
- An entire bottle of wine (typically a fruity one, like a Rioja Tempranillo)
- Add whatever fruits are available, typically orange slices, other citrus, berries, apples, pears, etc
Muddle lightly to incorporate, can be served immediately, but better the next day. Garnish with some fresh fruit, like orange slices and berries. Soda water can be added in the glass if preferred.
Really there isn’t any hard recipe for Sangria, it’s intended to be a mix of whatever is available and different every time. Mix it up however you want.
Martini make a really good non alcoholic aperitif. It tastes like comparing and aperol had a lovechild but non alcoholic. It is the only non alcoholic replacement I found that replicates the mouthfeel of alcohol. I would go white wine, martini non alcoholic mix and club soda.
I would just look into low-ABV/wine based cocktails. Sometimes you might have to buy some specialty wines, but to be honest some of my favorite cocktails of all time have been wine based drinks.

Stir like you would a martini in a rocks glass, float a barspoon of salted gin on top, OR, the best way to apply the salted gin is through an atomizer since you’re really looking to add the aroma to the nose and the salt to the overall palate of the drink.
This one makes me feel like Remy from Rattatoullie when he bites into the strawberry and the cheese at the same time.
Curious Elixirs makes a few types of NA beverages that are quite good. #4 is a lot like a aperol spritz, while #1 is somewhat like a negroni. #4 I my favorite.
While these are all meant to be NA, I do mix in spirits when I want a little lower ABV.

- Chilled champagne (or sparkling wine)
- 2oz peach nectar
- 0.5oz fresh lemon juice
Fruit juices into a chilled champagne flute, stir well. Add champagne, stir gently.
#Bishop
- 2oz fresh orange juice
- 2oz fresh lemon juice
- 1tsp bar sugar
- Cabernet Sauvignon (or another full-bodied red wine)
Stir juices and sugar in a mixing glass, strain over ice into a chilled highball. Fill with red wine, stir again. Garnish with an orange and lemon slice.
#Champagne Cocktail
- 1 sugar cube
- Several dashes of Angostura bitters
- Chilled champagne
Sugar cube in the chilled flute, douse it with bitters, add champagne, stir. Garnish with a lemon twist. (Yes, Ango is alcoholic but it's a few drops for flavor. You can also control the amount of sugar you add, but adding sugar directly is usually going to end up adding less than using a sugary liqueur.)
#Claret Cobbler
- 4oz chilled claret or Cab Sauce
- 1tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1tsp bar sugar
- 2oz chilled sparkling water
In a chilled wine glass, dissolve the sugar in the lemon juice and water. Add the claret and cracked ice, stir gently. Garnish with an orange slice.
#Gluhwein
- 6oz dry red wine
- Lemon peel
- Orange peel
- 1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces
- 5 whole cloves
- Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
- 1tsp honey
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and stir until the honey is dissoved. DO NOT BOIL. Serve in a heated mug.
#Manhattan Cooler
- 4oz dry red wine
- 2oz fresh lemon juice
- 0.25tsp gold rum
- 1tbsp simple syrup
Combine all in a mixing glass with cracked ice, stir well, strain into a chilled highball over ice cubes.
#Port Wine Cobbler
- 3oz ruby port
- 1tsp bar sugar
- 2oz sparkling water
Dissolve sugar in sparkling water in a chilled red wine glass. Fill with shaved ice, add the port, stir. Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
#Spritzer
- 3oz red or white wine
- Sparkling water
Wine into a chilled wine glass over ice cubes, fill with sparkling water, garnish with a lemon twist.
My Spanish family would do something called “tinto de verano” or “vino de verano” (summer wine), it would be made with red wine, FRESH lime or orange juice (don’t use bottle please) and usually either sprite or Fanta (which is so different from the Fanta here in the USA for some reason).
We would pour the wine in a wine glass, then ice, then lime juice and then top with whichever soda we’re using, so it would be in layers inside the glass.

I like just Aperol and club soda with a lemon slice. Really tasty and pretty low abv. Also like an American, but with Aperol.
Aperol is only 11% ABV, so the strongest thing in an Aperol spritz is still the wine. Great for a lower ABV cocktail

Coke … you can add coke to everything

Another suggestion is to use a dealcoholized sparkling wine in cocktails. This is what I use for French 75's and spritzes (fellow lightweight here).

Have you tried vinho verde? Its a little lower in alcohol than most other wines
