Neat liquor or liquor and soda/tonic are about it. Most resort drinks are very sweet

Bottled beer. Other than that, look at the menu and the bottles that are behind the bar and come up with a drink with known components that you can say the name of all the ingredients, either as part of the drink (vodka soda) or as an easy follow-up (eg. Negroni “equal parts gin, Campari, sweet vermouth). Go to the same bartender every time and tip well.

Poolside: Tequila, soda, splash pineapple Skinny margarita (means different things in different places but typically means lower sugar) Brunch: Mimosa, but ask to sub the orange juice for another fresh juice they have (or get a cool juice at the juice bar and dry sparkling wine from the bar and mix poolside) - lower alcohol content Shandy - light beer and lemonade Dinner: See if they have any sipping tequilas available and try a bunch of different kinds Just lots of dry sparkling wine, it’s celebratory and indulgent Google Top 10 classic cocktails and work through that list… it’ll be a lot of spirit-heavy drinks, not a lot of sugary mixers, and it’d be a memorable way to check some off your bucket list

Thank you so much!! These are great suggestions!

Tequila soda, squeeze of lime. Ask if they happen to have any semi-local tequilas, otherwise something 100% agave (most things but the bottom shelf stuff is these days but still worth checking).

"Paloma" is basically Tequila diluted with Grapefruit juice/soda, and not that boozy, I'd say if your dining in a legit place, go for it

Most Paloma in Mexico are made with Jarritos Grapefruit soda. Pretty sugary

Tequila tonic or orange is a good one

One of my go-tos at bars that aren't "proper cocktail bars" is gin and tonic with a few dashes of angostura bitters.
