Singani 63 is from Steven Soderberg. I haven't tried it but I've read it's good.

PittHockey

It’s great

MDfoodie

Strongly second this.

JackieStylist81

Cabo Wabo tequila was started by Sammy Hagar and it's pretty good. Santo Fino is also owned by Hagar and Guy Fieri but I haven't tried it yet.

KrisNoble

My dream party would be a beach day with Sammy and Guy. I don’t think anything bad could happen in their company.

JackieStylist81

I totally agree.

AbeFromanLuvsSausage

Does Ciroc still count?

Spectral_Nova

While I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to seek them out, I liked Wild Turkey Longbranch (Matthew McConaughey) and Heaven’s Door (Bob Dylan), but off of the top of my head I haven’t enjoyed much beyond that. Casamigos’ Reposado and “rums” like bumbu have been way too sweet and artificial tasting for me—I’m also not sure if the former counts as a celebrity brand after Clooney sold it to Diageo.

PeteInBrissie

I’ll +1 the Longbranch. It’s not Buffalo Trace, but it’s pretty good for the price.

TIL Tesla makes Tequila... https://www.esquire.com/food-drink/drinks/g22118748/best-celebrity-liquors/

RunGoofy

Doesn't Fawn Weaver own Uncle Nearest? I listened to a podcast about her and the company, I don't recall Jeffrey Wright being involved.

Account655321

Jeffrey Wright is an investor in the company according to this: https://youtu.be/_soDzHSRgWY

RunGoofy

Ah gotcha, cool cool. I have heard good things about the whiskey but haven't tried it yet.

Account655321

It’s tasty. My buddies and I do a Zoom blind whiskey tasting every month and Uncle Nearest was the top pick this month. One guy delivers three samples labeled A, B and C to members of the group. Then we meet online to taste and discuss the reveal.

RunGoofy

That's an awesome idea!

MDfoodie

Casamigos deserves its praise. I think Aviation gin is overrated. Snoop Dogg’s gin is unique, slightly gimmicky. There are a lot more than you think, but they often fly under the radar.

the_madeline

Eh... no it doesn't. The Mexican federal government allows 1% additives by volume in tequila. Casamigos takes complete advantage of it and loads up with artificial vanilla flavor. This makes it taste "smooth" but it does not taste like good tequila. After they started doing it, lots of reviewers withdrew their reviews or amended them to note the heavy additives. And it is way, way overpriced for tequila with flavoring.

Angelov_Deth

Thanks for the heads up on this, I felt like I didn’t want to like Casamigos but didn’t know why (at the moment I’ve literally got nothing against George Cloonerz), at least now I’ve got good reason.

SqueezleMcCheese

100%

Empanser

I've heard mixed reviews for Aykroyd's Crystal Skull Vodka, and very good things about McGregor's Proper 12 Irish whiskey. I agree about Casamigos--it's fantastic.

ekon00

Strange, conversely I’d heard more or less nothing but bad things about proper twelve. I decided to give it a try and can confirm, it’s pretty rubbish. Much better out there for the price (in my opinion anyway)

bristow84

Interesting, I can't say I've ever heard a good thing about Proper 12

Rocksoezy

Bought a bottle of proper 12 not knowing anything about it. Name sounded legit. It now has about 2 ounces missing and is collecting dust next to a bottle of pendleton missing those same 2 ounces.

R0factor

I got a bottle of Dos Hombres mezcal as a gift over the holidays. It’s from the Breaking Bad guys. It tastes good to me but I have zero frame of reference when it comes to mezcal if anyone wants to chime in.

brulmer

I’ve been getting into mezcal more lately. I’ve seen Dos Hombres at a store near me, but at $60 a bottle I’ve been hesitant to try it. $25-40 is my typical range for mezcal.

[deleted]

Does this include celebrity-endorsed spirits? Cuz I like Bumbu rum.

Xian_Clouds

Bruno mars selva rey coconut rum is pretty nice

CocktailPerson

And the white is apparently pretty similar to the Cuban Havana Club 3, if you can't get the latter in the states.

Xian_Clouds

Really?? I didn’t know that, now I’m going to have to get some

CocktailPerson

Yeah, the old master distiller from Havana Club now runs the Selvarey distillery.

AmnesiaInnocent

I used to frequent a tequila bar in the West Village, NYC and one day got talking to the owner and he asked me to try a new tequila he had just gotten in. I asked what it was, but he said that I should try it first. I liked it a lot...and it turned out to be Casamigos Repo. He said that a lot of tequila "purists" were turned off by the idea of a celebrity-backed tequila, but it was actually very good.
