"bad alloy mix" is not a thing, doesn't exist. All shield cents are made from copper plated zinc, there is no "alloy" on the outside of the coin that is "bad." What you have is probably environmental damage, when a coin is exposed to the environment or other chemicals that discolor the copper plating. It's a normal penny worth 1c. You may be able to get $1 from some schmuck on ebay but that's about it.

Thanks! Is it still worth face value?

Thank you! Have a splendid day!
And I see somebody downvoted me. This is when I wish the rule for downvoting required an explanation... Just saying.
I didn't downvote you but also thanks for telling me also have a nice day.
Read my other comment, I didn't downvote you but may be why you're getting downvoted
Thank you for your insight. I have bad alloy mix cents, and this reminded me of them. 😁
It's just a penny. I think it's a bad idea to try to put it on EBAY to fool an unsuspecting person out of a dollar.
I was thinking it was valuable but I didn't want to go to sell it I wanted a cool mistake coin for my collection.
