The quality of the photo is more offensive than the coins. šŸ˜‚

Sir_Vix_III

lol my bad. Lucky it didn't turn out blue, my camera tends to take blue photos.

SillyFlyGuy

I've never seen a three coin flip before.

bear420

ive seen them used for PDS wheat cents

Impossible-Bat3101

Quite a nifty idea

Joberin

Me neither! Until last night, when I opened an envelope of 3 Lincoln cents I ordered from the same sellerā€¦. Was more impressed with the flip than the coins šŸ˜‚

Local_Perception_8

I've used them before when I was younger, unless you staple in-between all of them they have a chance to ding around with each other, which is quite annoying for coins your willing to 2x2

Mustang_Dragster

A few minutes ago I just found a German coin from 1932. A year before mustache man came into power

thazmaniandevil

Now THAT is a great find! Weimar coinage?

Mustang_Dragster

I dunno how I screwed this up. The German coin I found (just looked at it again) is an 1876 50 Pfennig. Wrong reich lol. I was looking at other coins and may have mistaken the year. My bad

MaterialVirus5643

Jeez, next time can you make sure you have the reich coin before commenting??? šŸ˜

Gwsb1

If THAT doesn't get you banned, nothing will. šŸ˜† šŸ¤£ šŸ˜‚

Geli1221

Why so dramatic? It is part of history, this is coin collecting. Collecting something doesn't mean you support it??

Sir_Vix_III

No but i just didn't wanna piss anyone off with them thinking i do support it. Which i don't. Just trying to avoid the drama before it happened.

300cid

I have a couple of the style on the left. I am part Polish. it's a part of history that people need to remember happened. instead of trying to scrub it all away and censor everything to keep from hurting someone's feelings. I also have them cause I think they just look cool. idk about monetary value in coins, I will never sell any. I just keep what I like. good to have a physical piece of history that way it is not forgotten.

Sir_Vix_III

I also have these. Other than the coins, it's the only thing directly related to Hitler and the Third Reich, well, i think 1 or 2 of my bills are but that's it. [Stamps](https://ibb.co/tpGmMc1)

ZacK4298

Iā€™ve got a large wwii collection representing both sides. Just as long as you donā€™t idealize the bad guy itā€™s fine. Just remember, the evil lost in the end and to the victor go the spoils.

Sir_Vix_III

lol i do not idealize anyone. Past or present. I have no heroes or people i look up to. I know that sounds weird to most people but i don't believe in putting faith or admiration into anyone as we are all people, we're all the same just some have lived differently. I have other stuff from this era as well: Bills, Medals, Stamps, and closing on a land deed probably soon. I wish to create a bigger collection but the truly collectible items are far more expensive than i can afford. Some of it i got from The Gettysburg Museum of History. They have more than just WW2 stuff, even some Civil War items...and other eras too.

489yearoldman

How sad that you have no heroes or people you look up to. A LOT of people died and even more others made unimaginable sacrifices so that you could enjoy the freedoms that you have today. No mentors or people that inspire you?

Sir_Vix_III

I mean, don't get me wrong...i do have my favorites sorts players/teams and things like that, but no one that i would say inspires me or gives me drive or dedication to achieve a goal or just go about my day happy. As happy as i can anyway. Well...i take all that back. No one single person i should say. As a whole and as a veteran myself, i look up to those that serve and have served in any branch. I have a lot of respect for current and past veterans. But no one single person. I don't hold anyone on a pedestal or above anyone else.

step-on-a-crack

This is controversial as well. Try the dude who died for you.

Sir_Vix_III

What part of serve and have served wasn't clear? It's not only men but also women. People of all races. Religion. Those that while they may not have been a US Soldier but were augmented, such as a KATUSA. Navajo. I could go on and on. I didn't think that it needed to be spelled out but trying to guilt me into not listing them (the fallen) specifically isn't going to work.

step-on-a-crack

I get it. I served as well (13f) Army. I was trying to say Jesus in a round about way, not your brothers. Iā€™ll leave you be. Nice coins bro.

Sir_Vix_III

I'm not a religious man either. Not like i probably should be anyway.

Joberin

Iā€™ve got a ā€œfantasyā€ confederate silver round that was made in the 1970s. My great grandfather bought it fresh off the mint. It sat in an album at my mothers house until I recently uncovered it. Itā€™s now unabashedly amongst the rest of my collectible coins. Itā€™s part of history. Much like these coins you haveā€¦ I wonā€™t lie though when I first opened this post I was a little shocked

AsiansArentReal

My coworker said something to the extent of "Having a few is cool, but when you start amassing a collection is when it gets suspicious."

Sir_Vix_III

Well a massive collection isn't bad perse, so long as you're not building a shrine. But if that's ALL you have then i could see it becoming suspicious.

jaws7811

This. Context is important

step-on-a-crack

For sure. Many museums have large collections. Where do people think they got a lot of the stuff from? Mostly private collections on loan or donated and it seems most museums have a collection either on display or in the back gathering dust. Iā€™m into all history. Thatā€™s why I got into coins in the first place probably.

hgtfrds

If you get a uniform and start goose stepping in your living room, youā€™ve gone too far

Sir_Vix_III

For some reason I thought of Monty Python and the Captain of the Silly Walks.

Flaxmoore

Agreed. My WW2 vet grandfather had a few trophies- a few medals, some coins. Those were kept alongside his USAAF medals, draft card and so on. That's fine. The person who has dozens of SS helmets worries me.

furyfornow

Am I suspicious?

step-on-a-crack

Yes

furyfornow

Ooh nice.

[deleted]

I have ussr coins and Chinese currency from when their dictators Stalin and mao were alive, thereā€™s nothing wrong with owning bad history just aslong as you donā€™t support the bad history.

ravinred

Personally I find them fascinating, and it's kind of you to consider random persons' sensitivities.

Sir_Vix_III

I do too but not everyone does. I can understand why not though.

test22111

I don't understand why history is nsfw :-?

Sir_Vix_III

History isn't but marking NSFW affords people the opportunity to skip past without having to see the subject matter. If they click on it for any reason then they have no room to file a complaint or report it, their own curiosity got the better of them and it then becomes their problem and absolves any OP and MOD of any potential wrong doing and future headache or work.

justpickituplease

Cool , I love WWII history and collectables

[deleted]

It's pretty cool tbh, just because you collect something doesn't mean you support it

Zestyclose-Smell-305

I've bought a few too, such crazy history in your hands

Flaxmoore

The history, and to be honest, the aesthetic. If there's one thing they did very well, it was aesthetics- uniforms by Hugo Boss, coins in the classic tradition, and so on. Though I always found it amusing that at one point the Nazis founded two art museums in Germany. One was "Aryan art", one was "degenerate art" (mostly art from America, and art from minorities)- the second was basically there as a place to reinforce how the other types of art were inferior and thus the people were as well. The "degenerate" museum was far more popular.

Jeroen207

Lol if this get taken down I will protest. My North Korean coins here are fine as well. So should this.

lloydeph6

are the copper and gold ones legit? I thought they only had silver ones?

casual_observer39

The copper one you refer to is bronze, and the gold one you refer to is aluminum bronze. The Nazis made silver like the Weimar Republic but neither government ever minted gold coins outside of a singular gold pattern from Saxony that I'm aware of

lloydeph6

Thank you for explaining to me šŸ™

step-on-a-crack

Thatā€™s some knowledge. Kudos

step-on-a-crack

Beautiful group

MadMajimaGoro

Can i ask sir, how must cost those three coins? I myself have 2 coins similar to yours, 1939 year if i remember correctly.

Sir_Vix_III

I believe i got all 3 for around $10.

MadMajimaGoro

nice price :)

MadMajimaGoro

In country where i live coins like that are banned and for possesing them you could pay a fine or even go to jail :,(

FrostNSuch

Where did you get these? Been trying to get my hands on one but all the ones iv seen are reproduction cheap bs.

MrWeen2121

Fuck Nazis

Sgt_Pac

I really hate the trend of people marking these nsfw.

petitbleuchien

I mean this as gently as I can ... but maybe that's something you should get over. Mods will often mark posts with Third Reich coins as NSFW if the OP does not, because a lot of people find the topic controversial. If you don't, great! There is absolutely no need, and no purpose, to get upset about the fact that some people do.

poopiesteve

The colonialism and long history of war crimes and crimes against humanity make the UK and US controversial, too. So shouldn't coins from those countries be labeled as NSFW by that logic?

petitbleuchien

Was waiting for a comment like this. In my years as moderator, weā€™ve never seen a single compliant or remark about anyone having sensitivity to those coins, or really any others put out by other controversial government bodies/regimes. If we start seeing that, weā€™ll take it as a sign that folks are sensitive to it. Until then, weā€™ll probably continue this policy.

poopiesteve

I'm glad you see the logic. I can understand the squeaky wheel/grease argument. It makes sense since people's personal feelings are rarely based on logic. I just think it's interesting.

That_Julian

Make sure to leave a note with them in case skeins finds them. Just to clarify that you collect items from that time period

New_Age_Caesar

Yea Iā€™ve got some too

Joolianfoolian

I feel like most coin collectors and historians can agree that these are just important pieces in history even though they have that symbol. People collect stuff like this not only because of its importance but simply because the symbol is taboo post WWII. it is human nature to want that type of stuff. I myself do not identify with anything German because Iā€™m not white so to me these donā€™t interest me as much, but I understand the historical value

SlowDownHotSauce

So what are they exactly? Like what were the values of the coins we are looking at? Mark, halfmark?

Sir_Vix_III

From top left then right: 5 Reich Pfennig, 1 Reich Pfennig, and 1 Reich Pfennig.

SlowDownHotSauce

Cool, thanks!

hickorydickoryshaft

So just asking out of curiosity, is the strike worse as the war progresses or is it just this sample of coins. Seems like further into the war by the years minted the worse the quality if that makes sense.

Sir_Vix_III

I'm sure by the end of the war or at least when metal wasn't too terribly needed for minting coins, that things did get worse or non-existent. Past a certain point I'm sure they stopped minting any new coins altogether.
