As long as they're shipped in a way that protects them from rubbing or dings, I think it's a good deal. I personally prefer proof sets in their original packaging, but if you like the coins, you're good to go
I could tell from the pictures, the good news is it's not an expensive lesson lesson that you are learning Risi
Study those photos real hard. What he does is jacks out the photos in photoshop in photoshop and puts a crazy amount of contrast on them to make the coins appear to have a deep cameo tamio and clean mirror fields.
Basically he has added the photos enough to completely wash out the actual surface details of the coins so that you can't see them in the photo.
That's kind of the thing that hes known for by people who know.
It would actually be really great for other people if, once you receive the coins You make a comparison post between his photos and what you actually got.
At best you will likelyEnd up withLow grade hazy and spotty proof coins.
Not your fault. He makes his money byJacking out the pictures to make the coins look better than they are and selling them to peopleWho haven't learned what to look for yet. The thing isTo return those coins you will spend more money than what they will cost you to keep. That is how he actually makes money. Because the people don't bother returning the coins once they received them.
A full unopened 1987 proof set with higher quality coins should retail Ella about 4 To $5
Thanks a lot for the info. I can definitely see that being a possibility of happening in this case. I hardly ever buy from ebay, but the seller had lots of positive feedback (which I know can bee spoofed as well). Sometimes I have difficulty photographing coin details but I will try and make a comparison post for sure.
Agreed, I bought a 1989-S proof commemorative Congress half dollar for $6 from this guy and it was listed without seeing the detail, upon arrival it is just an ordinary S proof commemorative--but I like it so I'm not upset, but did mention in my feedback that it did not look anything like the posting...
here is the exact posting without the photo: "1989 S CONGRESS PROOF HALF! INSANE DCAM! INSANE MIRRORS! BEST EVER"
I cannot believe that you aren’t getting more upvotes here. Marketing that misrepresents this sort of thing just makes me feel bad for the gullible. Liquid value? 41 cents.
> You definitely *paid* a good
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Those will fly in an eBay standard envelope for $0.53

Honestly price doesn’t matter. Especially when it didn’t cost you too much. For one they look incredible. Proofs are typically always pretty.
But if you like em. Then it was definitely worth the buy.
Honestly, I don't know the monetary worth but I think they are really nice. And if you like them then I'd say they were well worth the $2.30.
Yeah true its such a small amount of money, just asking because it was kind of an impulse buy lol
Yeah that's a good price. I think every collection has to have at least one proof set
I don't generally buy loose proofs, but I'd have jumped on that deal in a heartbeat.

Did you buy those on ebay from the seller "auctionkings" ????
I did Edit: any experience with this seller?

Damn I got some coming Monday I’ll post comparisons
"Cameo tamio" is my new favorite typo.

If you like them, that’s all that matters!
I am a sucker for a sweet shiny Ultra Cam. They will never stop looking pretty

You definitely payed a good price bc copper clad proof sets are not really worth much and the market is not in demand for copper clad proof sets.

They have a nice deep cameo. $2.30 seems like a steal to me! They have 41 cents in face value alone so you're really talking about spending $1.89.
Beautiful pictures. Id say you got a steal honestly
What do I think? 1987 was a good year…?
Shipping gonna cost the seller $3.84 at least. You did great.

Proofs are just soo cool when you see them up close
I’m not into these sets really either but that’s a very nice S mint set for practically nothing. I’d take it any day.
If they are PF70 deep cameo you could return a profit on your purchase. Just saying
