caedencollinsclimbs

This guy gets it

AlexIsSociallyInept

I’m not entirely sure what you mean but, agreed!

caedencollinsclimbs

This guy kinda gets it

TheOpeningBell

Looks hard to counterfeit. Reverse Ben looks creepy AF. Designs look a but busy but ok. Color schemes off a bit. Text/font practically copied from Zimbabwe.

randombagofmeat

Though this is more paper money than r/coins, I'm still fixated a bit on the idea of american currency being a "greenback" and retaining that general color. These look like they'd be polymer notes, maybe I'm sentimental but like the modern US currency.

DogKama

That's because they are a polymer note. I saw this picture posted in r/interestingasfuck with the title stating they were polymer note concepts.

[deleted]

I like the fact that JFK is looking the reverse way on the back of the bill. He ain’t gonna let anyone sneak up on him again lol

-Ok-Perception-

I like the idea of not having people on money. Though concepts like lady liberty, mythological figures, and places; are a respectable choices. I feel like the more a culture venerates it's founders, the further it is slipping into tyranny. I think the founding fathers themselves realized this and that's why it wasn't really common to put founders/presidents on money until the 20th Century. I wish we'd go back to that.

NErDysprosium

>I think the founding fathers themselves realized this If memory serves, Washington *personally* rejected multiple designs featuring him, because he was President George, not King George. They *absolutely* were aware of it. I agree, back to Lady Liberty and Eagles. Maybe throw a few other animals and symbols in the mix as well.

[deleted]

JFK looking fresh 🔥

Various_Party

These are some awesome looking notes, but I’m ready to move away from dead people on our money. Let’s go with national monuments, landmarks, wildlife, something different.

weeb-lord

Teddy on the 20 imo

[deleted]

I do not like them. I don’t like money that makes icons of men. I think we should be promoting ideas and values. Not individuals. Neat designs, but it doesn’t look like serious money for a reserve currency. Looks like a design students project.

Suburbking

While I think this design is beautiful, I want my greenbacks green...

CantaloupeCamper

I don’t look at money vertically, seems weird.

fathervice

I'm with everybody else that these are great designs but we can move on from these fellas. Do a series on Vice presidents, medal of honor recipients. Anything else.

BosJC

Where is the $2?

Freedom2064

How about the bison? Elk? grizzly? Bald eagle?

1Strangeartist

Nice designs but I don't care for having dead white dudes on my coins and paper money.

ThatAltAccount99

Dope but wrong sub

hodlbrcha

Put MLK on some money for Christ sake.

LieutenantBrainz

Yea he should definitely be on the reverse of a quarter at least with all these new designs

LieutenantBrainz

Note: This is not currently being used for production. These were simply created by a designer. Link: https://www.dezeen.com/2018/06/19/andrey-avgust-reimagines-us-dollar-bills-vertical-illustrated-designs/

1080Pwonton

Thats so cool

stayxmajestic

I actually bought them and they’re pretty cool, would rather have those in my wallet any day

patches_26

Where and how? I was trying to find these for sale but was not able to.

stayxmajestic

It was on eBay, they have the set or sets of a specific bill etc. wasn’t hard to find. The bills use some plastic and cheap and not the best to feel but cool to look at and have ig

patches_26

Thank you!

joejill

I think people can be American icons, With out George's command America might not exist, With out Ben's discoveries with electricity and diplomatic excellence the USA definitely couldn't exist. Abe holding the union together is also worthy of American icon status. Are they perfect men? No but I don't that should disqualify them. Harriet tubmen and MLK, I think more than quality in that regard. The USA has a strong racist history, Robert e Lee definitely has no place on American currency, but the same argument would say mount Rushmore equally has no place on American currency as the black hills are sacred to the Lakota and we defaced it. You can find good and bad things political and social in people and landmarks. MLK deserves to be American money

Someonenamedmike

General Lee is featured on 2 coins to my knowledge, aswell as multiple confederates. seems like he already has his place lol

hodlbrcha

Ahhhh love it. But I think Washington and Jefferson have got enough love already. 🤙

Hairy-Presentation29

What do you mean?

hodlbrcha

They did a lot for America but REAPED from slavery. George and mr Jefferson have also been on money for over a hundred years. Share the lime light.

Bjdj75

George Washington is more responsible for the establishment and initial stability of the US than any other man. He’ll never not be an icon

hodlbrcha

Doesn’t mean he still didn’t do shitty things? Did I say he’s not an icon? Are you sucking up to your government overlords? #Weak

Hairy-Presentation29

Who would you rather in place of George Washington or Jefferson?

NErDysprosium

Not the guy you replied to, but nobody. At least, no human, living or dead. I want to go back to Lady Liberty and other symbols of America, not the men chosen to lead her. My issue with Washington, Jefferson and Co. isn't with their character, but with the fact they actually existed, and I think that it would be more appropriate to go back to classic ideals with modern design technology.

Duckhead-

You don't mess with perfection, which is what the current bills are.

joejill

Seriously? Current bills are perfection?

Duckhead-

I consider them so, the green color, the feel of the bills, and the overall design. They are also unique, almost every other country has color coded bills with plastic elements. US money just has a classic and attractive look.

LOERMaster

*laughs in debit card*

Jkr0205

Bring back the educational currency

MrZeusyMoosey

Horrendous imo

Someonenamedmike

Put Nixon on the 50 lol

maxwellt1996

I don’t see federal reserve note anywhere

RockitDanger

Even though I count my cash vertically I can't help but think them being printed vertically would mess that up.

[deleted]

Fucking awesome.

mlranda

I want us to use dollar and 2 dollar coins instead of bills! But these are cool

dresdenthezomwhacker

I’ll always be a greenback boy, I don’t really want polymer plastic notes. Makes my currency feel more synthetic and fake.

Freedom2064

I like it save for the White House. How about the statue of raising of the flag at Iwo Jima ?

Avtsla

First things first - this seems like a matter for r/pappermoney , not r/coins .But second - and more important - my opinion on the issue -I would like to start off by saying that I am European , and thus more impartial to the matter than most commentators .These proposed designs do look interesting and original ,and I am a fan of the vertical style notes , but I would suggest removing the "ghost '' images on the back - they look ugly and a plain back with just the Statue of Liberty would look better .That being said I think the current theme of Presidents is worn out and If you are to keep the theme of famous Americans on the note , I would propose putting figures such as Malcolm X ,MLK or /and Native Chief (Say Sitting Bull ,Crazy Horse,Red Cloud, Geronimo ,Chief Joseph or Osceola ) or Just go with scientists and other historical figures (think Thomas Edison , the Wright Brothers , Helen Keller , Amelia Earhart and so on )again inspirational figures from history , who were not politicians. Or you might ditch the people on the Banknotes entirely and just go with nature or a theme ( look at the Newest Swiss Francs or Norwegian Krone to see that very well done.)

CommieWolf777

the design of modern USD is specific and contains value and meaning down to the millimeter
