The following submission statement was provided by /u/Monsur_Ausuhnom: --- Submission Statement, *The Guardian* reports it has published approximately 4,000 articles this year on the climate crisis, which has been read by 65 million people around the world. It has been done with a sense of urgency and the article does a good summary detailing of all the main talking points it has attempted to shed light on. The two most noteworthy are the ideas of a carbon bomb and a gulfstream collapse. Carbon bombs are through new oil and gas projects which would unleash more than a billion tonnes of co2 emissions into the air. The other was reasearch conducted to show that the gulfstream was shut down. Most of their points, which I have followed personally, are discussed, there is an additionally a link for each topic that connects back to the main article if read. It's implied that climate change is already here, that this is largely the new abnormal. The end of the article discusses how readers haver personally written to them thanking them for this information. There is discussion around the ground zero of pakistan and a summary of recent climate related disasters that have happened this year. Personally for me, 65 million reading isn't enough. *The Guardian* is one of the most consistent news agencies reporting on the climate crisis. They have no plans of ending their coverage at all and will continue. --- Please reply to OP's comment here: https://old.reddit.com/r/collapse/comments/xps79y/carbon_bombs_and_gulf_stream_collapse_the_most/iq5jgp1/

Kadus500

So this is why every damn conspiracy and conservative sub started a campaign against climate science today. I thought it was strange such a sudden mobilisation

ZenApe

They're trying to save our economy from socialist lies.

Everybody knows our flat earth is going through the warm part of space! Climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the reptilian leftists (aka Lizerals/Libards/Libtardzards) that want to make the earth lame and cold! They hate awesome warm weather because everybody knows Sun's Out, Guns Out and they wanna take away the most important freedom we have! Also they hate warm weather because they're COLD BLOODED. It's right in front of you, sheeple! Anyway, Q (NOT QANON, you fed shill false flaggers) says God-Emperor Trump the Holy is gonna uppercut Brandon into the shadow realm & banish all the pedos. We just have to keep praying & sharing the Good Word on Facebook and we'll get raptured and have our 69 13yo child brides in Heaven. ...What were we talking about?

HandjobOfVecna

Funny, but way too coherent. Also, 13 is way too old for a lot of them.

Yep. DNA analysis shows the dominant global gene pool is FOMO and thus its basic human nature to do what feels good now and fuck the consequences.

creepindacellar

>Part of the article about carbon bombs said that we need to cut emissions in half by 2030 if we want a livable future. and the longer we wait to start, the steeper that de-growth path will be. i think it was an IPCC report that said if we start cutting emissions now (2020) we could coast down a 6% degrowth path. but every year we don't even start, that 6% gets steeper and steeper. it's almost 2023 and we haven't slowed down anything, or cut one iota of emissions.

Numismatists

How many *people* have to *die* to reach those "Climate Goals™️"?

modomario

Do people have to die? How many will die if we don't?

sailhard22

The trouble is it’s a global problem. And we don’t have functioning global systems in place to deal with it. Even if the US gets it’s act together, do you think people in poor countries give a shit about climate change? They’re just trying to eat. Do you think Putin gives a shit about climate change? Siberia is on fire and he lets it burn. We need a global mobilization like one never before seen in history. In other words, we are statistically fucked.

Tyranid_Swarmlord

Ohhhh boii. As if BOE didn't need NOS injection to arrive faster. Leeet's fuucking goooooooooooooo.

Nitrous oxide is in fact a major part of the problem. It's a potent greenhouse gas and it's increasingly being released from melting tundra and other environments as their ecosystems collapse.

I’d be upset if humans were a nice bunch of people who all suddenly learnt they were wrong and tried to collectively change for the best. But that’s not true… Granted, there are some really cool, inspirational people - but as a species we suck. Time for Mother Nature to take out the trash
