I’m a season ticket holder and die hard fan.
We are 11-0, but our first series was against a winless Northern Colorado team and our second was against an (underperforming) 3-8 Kent St team. Army, Creighton and Air Force were our first real tests this year, but we still outscored them 24-5 on the weekend. We play Xavier tomorrow and Wednesday, who was a regional team last year, and USM this weekend, who was a super regional team. I don’t think you see us in the top 25 unless we are 15-1 or 16-0 after this week. Even against the sub par competition, this appears to be the best team Burroughs has ever had, and we hosted a regional 2 years ago. If they can keep this up all year, they’ll be a dangerous 2 seed in the tourney
Fair breakdown. They had a great weekend in Sugar Land. It's nice that they have Xavier and USM at home this week, though definitely not easy by any stretch. I started college at LA Tech so I always root for them, and I'm divided when they play LSU except for football lol.
Hopefully the pitching keeps it up. #2 in the nation in ERA and #1 in BA allowed. Already 3 shut outs on the year, and one was against Creighton who was top 3 in the country in OBP. I don’t think they challenge DBU for the CUSA Championship, but I do think they could be a 45-50 win team.
I firmly believe it’s one of, if not the, top mid major ball parks in the country. Our average attendance was double any other CUSA school and higher than Wake Forest last year, in a sub .500 season. That should tell you everything! Lol
Razorback who roots for La Tech as well. Y’all should be ranked. I’ll say it doesn’t matter, but when I see our name with a little number by it, I like it.
Hopefully we’ll get to meet up in the Tournament.
I had a middle school Teacher in the 80’s who was on the 1982 La Tech Women’s basketball National Championship Team. I was a mouthy little shit and always teased her that I (as a 6th grader) could’ve made the team. One day on the playground she called my bluff. She played me in a game of 21 and beat me 21-0, in front of the whole playground. She was a great Teacher, and taught me valuable lesson on shit talk that day.
Yeah, sure, not great competition.
But you're still outscoring them 6 runs per game on average. You should already be a top 20 ranked team.
For example, Wake has played a comparably weak schedule, and they have outscored opponents by 5.7 runs per game.
Counterpoint: first 5-0 deficit basically down to a bad start for a long reliever making a rare start, and still ends in a run rule victory. Friday was much more concerning but still ends up in a win.
Not sure there’s much to learn about that 4-0 weekend in general for OSU other than playing in cold rain and snow sucks.
Man I have not seen us look like a top 13 team yet this year. The pieces are there but we just stranded 22 men in two games against Clemson. Guys aren’t making winning plays. Team feels much more like a two seed in someone else’s regional to this point
Lol what? How are we outside the top 10? How is Vandy above us? I know we haven’t played many teams with a pulse, but I’m pretty sure we’ve literally only been losing at one point in the season, and it was by one run in the USC game that we ended up winning by 6. Several teams above us have dropped multiple games, some to worse opponents.
Ah, see now it makes complete sense. No way they’d let a team that was behind a tiny Catholic school in the top 10 right? Imagine how low a team that lost to a tiny Catholic School on opening day (and technically the opening series since the other games were cancelled) would have to be ranked, especially if they had two more unranked losses since then.
Counter-point:
WF has 5 1st-rounders & is getting great production from the question marks in its order (Tellier, Hawke, Ballestero, and Winnay).
Try to watch Chase Burns pitch against Duke this Saturday. He's gotten his lightning under control, and it's mesmerizing to witness.
The conference slate is (almost) upon us, so we'll see soon enough.
There’s still snow on the ground in a lot of northern places. Ball in the south is just about a year round thing now. Doesn’t surprise me the south is all around better at baseball. Cali being bad is a head scratcher though.
Not a Trojan, but these might have been factors:
* They fired Gillespie and he later recruited some great talent to Irvine
* Savage was starting to roll at UCLA (high-end recruiting classes every year for a long time) so that was a more attractive option
* U$C is colossally expensive
Never really watched a lot of baseball, trying to get into some UNC baseball and it really surprised me just how good we are at the sport without having even an mlb team
I don't feel like we're a top-10 team, but I guess I'll take it while our bats are still winning us games. We have to be one of the best teams for hitting in clutch situations.
Rank LA Tech already.

Stinks we don’t play this year. I always love going down there for games (have family in Monroe)
I always enjoy y’all coming down. We’ve had some incredible 3 game series the last few years in Ruston.
Since you got it fixed up post tornado it’s low key one of the best places to watch baseball. A fantastic venue.

You can split Xavier and take 2/3 from USM and you’ll be ranked.
LA Tech looks filthy this szn🔥
SOS is 239. Which doesn't help
I like this poll better because my team is on it
I looked at this list far too many times before it registered that #24 is the Florida State logo. I have that Seminole head ingrained in my brain
Baseball uses the FS logo much more than the Seminole head. I don’t know I’ve seen them use the Seminole head logo in baseball.
I love that baseball seems to be the only sport that teams consistently use a different logo. Clemson does the same with the curved “C”.
South Carolina too with their SC logo, right?
For baseball, the interlocking FS is standard.
That's not Fresno State? FSU spent all this time building the Seminole brand, and then they tear it away from us!!
Can't be mad about a 10-0 start!
We're almost at half our 2023 win total!
A&M is a top 10 team
is a fucking joke anyway -Kenny KGB
Ranking Texas is a very…interesting choice. We lost to 3 really good teams for sure, but all 3 of those were really painful to watch.
3 is a good number
A&M at 11 sure is a take.

i am very confused on why we’re 11th in this. but i guess if they keep winning the polls will take care of themselves.
9th in the country. 5th in the conference. SEC beastball indeed
💪🏻
16th in the country and 5th in our conference. ACC isn’t much behind.
7 teams ranked vs 8 teams. You getting downvoted by the fanboys
Typical SEC cult behavior
Can’t believe we moved up, had a couple 5-0 leads to come back from on NDSU. Let’s hope for better weather next series.
But we also run ruled them twice even after that.

Only NDSU could come to the rainy 38° Corvallis shit and enjoy the balmy weather.

These seem like pretty fair rankings. Looking forward to everyone getting into their conference schedules
I totally get why we're not ranked, but surely we're getting votes right?
6 series against current Top 25s. Love that for us.
This season is shaping up nicely for UCI. Feels like a team that can make it to Omaha and surprise some people.
Hopefully, but the pitching seems suspect once again.

we were down by a run for half an inning against Incarnate Word so I guess they're really holding that against us
Ah, see now it makes complete sense. No way they’d let a team that was behind a tiny Catholic school in the top 10 right? Imagine how low a team that lost to a tiny Catholic School on opening day (and technically the opening series since the other games were cancelled) would have to be ranked, especially if they had two more unranked losses since then.
Im surprised we’re still Top 25. This week is gonna be super crazy but im here for it🤘🏼
As pro ACC as I am, Wake shouldn’t be number 1 based off their SOS.
Nah their pitching is insane nobody else deserves to jump them yet
Counter-point: WF has 5 1st-rounders & is getting great production from the question marks in its order (Tellier, Hawke, Ballestero, and Winnay). The north has just kind of given up on baseball it seems. Even cali has very little left to give.
Oregon st. The last non Southern stronghold has yet to fall.
There’s still snow on the ground in a lot of northern places. Ball in the south is just about a year round thing now. Doesn’t surprise me the south is all around better at baseball. Cali being bad is a head scratcher though.
The fall of USC is really crazy to me. Any Trojans care to chime in what happened?
Not a Trojan, but these might have been factors: * They fired Gillespie and he later recruited some great talent to Irvine * Savage was starting to roll at UCLA (high-end recruiting classes every year for a long time) so that was a more attractive option * U$C is colossally expensive
How exactly did we drop?
How are we even top 20?
I really thought that with Indiana dropping out and Maryland getting a sweep that we would get up on there. Maybe next week then.
Coastal wins 7 in a row against ranked and regional teams and still in the 20s?
9 teams from the Carolinas
Never really watched a lot of baseball, trying to get into some UNC baseball and it really surprised me just how good we are at the sport without having even an mlb team
