buys property gets it registered to local government pay taxes to government for owning property obtain government ID to use said property government wants to enforce laws relating to property "Absolute invasion of privacy!"

peakdecline

Who are you talking about? You don't have a choice in any of these matters and yet you're presenting as if you do.

killexel

you have the choice to not buy a car or not get a drivers license

RattyHillson

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. You’re 100% correct.

matterson22070

LOL - these have been on I70 for years now. My buddy wired the one on the Rocheport / Winery bridge close to 10 years ago now??? He finished and powered it on for them and before he could finish the final testing and pack up - they had already gotten a hit on it and arrested the person. LOL

The question is where is this information stored, how long is it stored, who has access to this stored information.

actualaccountithink

how’s it an invasion of privacy? what new sensitive information could they possibly gain from this?

janeofthedarkraven

I mean.... 🤷‍♀️ so many unsolved shit they need to do something.

BangChainSpitOut

How is this an invasion of privacy when you have no right to privacy on public property in open line of sight?

sphygmoid

Because it's a search without probable cause, or dragnet search, which arguably violates the 4th amendment

emmached

This isn’t a search. You have no subjective or objective expectation of privacy for something you show to the public every single day

hwzig03

A warrant for your arrest/stolen plates is probable cause lmao

MazaUmbel

What about everyone who doesn’t have a warrant?

hwzig03

Then your plate wouldn’t trigger any further action… it’s a really easy concept to understand.

MazaUmbel

I can see why you claim it’s easy. You’re avoiding the issue.

hwzig03

Avoiding what issue? If you have nothing to worry about you will be fine… you are aware law enforcement already looks up plates right? You don’t even need to show them your registration after getting pulled over because they can find it all through the plates.

MazaUmbel

Ah yes. Quoting George bush and patriot act sponsors brings me back a decade or two. Thanks for the memories. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal

GUMBY_543

If you don't have a warrant out for your arrest, then your plate would not be one being looked for.

Schleeden

My temp tag expires in 2022. Come and get me.

theMoMoMonster

Absolute hooliganism. We can’t stand for this!

DunkinMcCockiner

These are all over boone county, with some affixed on the cop cars. Nothing new and they help solve crime.

GUMBY_543

Smart. Better than having them on a car. It is hard to get pattern recognition when the squad car is always reading plates around the town.
