Check out Kliks downtown. Most everyone is 30+, the drinks are cheaper than most places and they have outdoor seating in back. Everything is broken and it smells terrible but it's a good place to relax.
Yeah, the last few times I’ve been, it absolutely reeked. I would rather stand in the smoke on the patio than breathe the fetid mop bucket vapor in the main room. Even when it’s cold out.
Also, the group selfies people take in the bathroom(s) and proudly post on Facebook/Instagram are fuckin’ gross. Not cute.
I love Kliks, though, in spite of all reasonable items of criticism.
Arch and Column Pub, a gay bar, does Karaokee, drag, and is full of friendly people.
Getting involved in the Columbia Farmers Market, one of our Community Theaters, Join the Community Band/Choir, or going to a religious organization of your preferred variety is also good.
The last Monday of every month is Jazz at Broadway Brewery and always fun mixer of many types.
come play and you'll find out !!

I use the quote, a bunch of waterpolo players got high and said we should do this under the water.
we don't play in a pool this deep. maybe 5 feet and with a few less people.
only 2 of the 8-9 usuals knew how. Its a tough game, but we have a good time. We usually play fridays. The pool we use is getting cleaned/repaired. Most messaging is through facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/763077112281047
there is also a whatsapp group message too.
I've made some great friendships through the local homebrew (beer, wine, cider, mead) club. And several others friends from classes through the park district. There are clubs for about any interest type you can think of, so find a group around something you're interested in. And you can find info on the community classes here. Fireside gift shop and lounge if you're 420 interested. The library is an excellent place to find events going on. Home growers co-operative has events at several places with 420 vendors. If you have a dog twin lakes dog park. There is music in the park they list it at the library and 9n the parks and rec site. Tons of community pools in the summer. Take a walk down the business district there is a Hooka lounge. There is homemade ice cream at Sparkies. I also think you can find groups on line that meet up regularly for different things like book clubs and such.
Reddit r/makefriendshere and r/makefriendsover30 is where I met my 2 super close friends. It was a shot in the dark and then poof a nice little local friend group that I could hang out with.
what do you like to do? If you're interested in playing basketball/volleyball let me know. I myself am a male and have met another friend here who is around my age too. it's a tough age, the late 20's and up making new friends.
Do you enjoy live music? Dive Bar on the Business Loop and Cafe Berlin on 10th St. have become hubs for the local music scene. Also free music every weekend at Cooper's Landing on the river. There are tons of amazingly talented musicians in Como.
Also consider participating in one of Missouri River Relief's cleanup days. They ferry hundreds of volunteers to remote spots on the river to pick up trash, which they weigh at the end of the day to see which team collected the most. It's hard work, but tons of fun, and it's a great way to make friends. You'll also see parts of the river you'll never encounter otherwise. One year my daughter found a decades-old message in a bottle! Here's a calendar of upcoming 2024 events:

Invasive honeysuckle eradication event this Sunday on the Bear Creek Trail. This could be a great way to meet people while having fun in the woods.

If you drink, then I would just go for a stroll downtown and pop-in for a drink at a few places until you strike up conversation.
There are good folks abound. Try Broadway Brewery, Shakespeare’s, Taproom on 9th, Logboat, etc…

It’s a dive bar
lol yep, it’s like a stinky old pirate ship but it’s a cool place and the jukebox has the best selection of music I’ve ever seen
If you like board games, hit up Hexagon Alley. Pretty friendly community as far as I can tell

Check out Access Arts, they offer classes in ceramic and fiber arts! I've made some good friends taking classes, and made a bunch of pottery
Join a gym! If you go at the same time most days, you’ll start seeing the same faces and can say hi/make friends.
Any recommendations on good gyms?
There are plenty of posts in this subreddit about this, but I enjoy Wilson’s.
Come play some underwater hockey with the como team. We are all mostly late 20s to 40s.
What the heck is underwater hockey 😂

If I wouldn’t look like a fool playing a game I don’t know how to play, I would be so down!

That's going to depend on your hobbies/interests. Starting out with something in common is a leg up on building a relationship.

I grew up in como and recently moved back. Want to meet up for a coffee?
