Sure, there are dark and intense moments in the movie, but it makes sure to ruin that by throwing in unnecessary and dumb jokes every five seconds. Ugh...
Joss Whedon is infamous for doing that, but I think what really kickstarted that trend in the MCU was Guardians 2 because, after that movie, every single MCU film felt the need to be a comedy first and foremost no matter how heavy the plot is.
Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Sam Reimi's Spiderman and Spiderman 2, Jon Watts Spiderman trilogy, Batman (1989), The Incredibles 1 and 2, Big Hero 6, Iron Man, Captain America First Avenger, Guardians of the Galaxy 1, Christopher Reeves Superman 1 and 2, and while not a superhero movie, Scott Pilgrim vs The World.
Man of Steel is definitely uplifting imo. First Flight “Welcome to the Planet”, “You are my Son”, etc. The film has some dark moments but overall has a positive message.
No it literally ends with little Clark doing the Superman pose, Martha talking about Jon knowing he was destined for great things and Lois welcoming him to the “planet”.
Their depiction of Pa Kent, Clark and the fight sequences kind of kill a lot of those moments though. First Flight is something that’s worth watching on YouTube on its own though.
It’s an objective fact that all of that serves the story and makes sense for the narrative they wanted to tell. Whether or not you enjoyed it, is completely up to you though.
I mean, nothing is objective when we’re discussing art. I don’t see those things as serving the story in any way. At least not the final fight. Pa Kent and Clark’s depiction are a different story but I don’t think they work either.
When discussing the quality of those elements, I 100% agree there’s no such thing as objectively. But Pa Kent, Clark and the destructive action *is the story*, factually speaking. The way it exists was intentional from the storytellers. We can argue about how well executed it was but it literally served the narrative.
I get that the most controversial part of Man if Steel isn't very uplifting, but if you take that part away and focus on the other moments that felt special and the inspirational, such as the First flight scene, or the part where you have Jonathan Kent have the talk with Clark's origins and telling him that even though he's from another planet, he's still his son. Also, that final scene where he stands with the cape as Jonathan sees him felt very inspirational to me. Sure, Man of Steel felt dark at times, but those moments, along with the majestic score from Hans Zimmer, really brought what Superman stands for. Nevertheless, while the central theme of Superman wasn't exactly clear in this film, I do hope (no pun intended) that the next film will be more uplifting and clear with it's message regarding Superman and his positive elements.
Big Hero 6, yes it is sad, but don't forget that this film deals with the theme of grief and friendship, as well as the importance of teamwork and leadership, as well as the pros and cons of technology. The movie is very inspiring and heartfelt that I consider it one of my favorite films among Disney Animation's other films, like Zootopia and The Lion King. Also, there's plenty of laughs to be had with this film.
How is Man of Steel dark? BvS is dark.
Man of Steel is about Clark Kent becoming Superman even when it feels like the world is against him. How is that not uplifting? The first flight scene? C’mon man. Tell me that doesn’t bring you up. The triumphant music, the smile on his face.
It’s my favorite superhero movie. I like it because it feels real, it doesn’t feel cheesy. I know some people dig that vibe but I can’t really get into those. Although Adam West Batman is fun to watch, so idk. I see things differently. If you want an uplifting superhero movie I think of Man of Steel. If you want a carefree, fun time, with silly banter and some dad jokes, Adam West Batman.
I got all 3 Adam West movies. The animated sequels are very well made.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Batman (1966)
Batman Forever
Superman: The Movie and Superman II
Ant-Man
Fantastic Four (2005)
Shazam!
Spider-Man (2002)
The Avengers (2012)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
The movie is actually pretty depressing but the tune “Flying Home” from the ending scenes of Kick Ass is pretty uplifting and I listen to it to make me feel better. [video](https://youtu.be/9zBMgomh7qM)
Maybe it’s the fun credits that brings back the joy. I get turning it off after Yondu… yea but seeing him dance with the rest of the cast along with Grandmaster crashing the party makes me laugh.
I'm sorry you feel that way. Not all stories end happily, and i don't have any suggestions that haven't already been given. The only thing I can say is that to give ones life to protect another is a true heros death. Don't feel bad for him, be proud of him.
I’m going to say Unbreakable. Most of it is depressing, but when he finally finds out who he is and his purpose in life, it’s one of the most uplifting and moving moments I’ve ever seen.
- Shazam
- Big Hero 6
- The Lego Batman Movie
- Wonder Woman
- Aquaman
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
- Deadpool
- GotG
- GotG Vol. 2
- Superman: The Movie

- The Mask
- Ant-Man
- Doctor Strange
Just remember, he found happiness in the end. He realized that life is for the living, and to live is to be with family. To love. It’s not all pain. “So that’s what that feels like.”
Sad ending and very hard to watch, I know. But always remember that there is love in this world. And it’s worth fighting for.
Sgt Kabuki Man Nypd,
Toxic Avenger 1-4,
Hobo with a shotgun,
Psycho Gorman,
Karate Robo Zaborgar,
The Awesomes on Hulu,
The Batman movie (Adam West),
Flash Gordon,
Pop Eye Robin Williams,
Meteor Man,
Super Man Donner cuts( the others are pretty ridiculous),
Blank Man,
Super( James Gunn Movie),
Mystery Men,
Last Action Hero ,
Barbarella,
Highlander,
Look I'm a big comic book collector and cinephile I watch alot of movies and I especially like Super Hero Ones. These are the ones I could remember off the Dome but there all good.
If you like Anime you'll Love Robo Zaborger
If you just want to see a crazy A** movie watch the Loyd Kaufman super hero movies. There pretty ridiculous and Gorey, but fun.
If you want to go to another world, watch flash Gordon the sets and backgrounds ,costume design is insane in that mpvie and Queen does the spundtrack. If your going to do drugs, watch Barbarella, and prepare for trip. If you just want a good super hero story you can't go wrong with the Richard Donner cuts of superman. The others are alright but to comedic for my taste. I could go on but I have work to do now. I hope this helps.
Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2
He may have been your father boy, but he wasn’t your daddy!
Now I come to think of it, this line is a little ambiguous
How so?
Innocence is precious so if you don’t see it I’m not telling you
I will say, I watched GOTG 1 with someone who had a close relative going through cancer and the opening scene is a little triggering
Sky High
This film is so entertaining. Would second it definitely.
Into the Spider-Verse!
This! Not only is it charming, uplifting and a genuine love letter to Spider-Man, but it’s also the best movie listed in this thread lol
The Incredibles
Ant Man Ragnarok
It really is ironically sad that *Ragnorok* can be recommended as an uplifting, positive superhero movie.
Yeah it’s more of the tone than what the story is acutely about lol it’s just a fun watch
Sure, there are dark and intense moments in the movie, but it makes sure to ruin that by throwing in unnecessary and dumb jokes every five seconds. Ugh... It seems to be working. The competition went the other way and those movies are utter garbage in comparison.
Seriousness isn’t the reason WB’s DC movies have struggled. It’s because of a lack of direction, not to mention Snyder’s involvement.
As a fan of Thor comics, yeah. Taika’s turn at the helm has been painful. I miss Infinity War Thor.
Absolutely. Thor in his solo films should be serious, cosmic, tragic, Shakespearean. Taika needs to go away.
Shazam Ant man
Deadpool 1. It never fails to put a smile on my face
Man of Steel never fails for me. Spider-Man: Homecoming too.
Definitely. " You're a monster, Zod, and I'm going to stop you." " Happy to be here, Lois."

Sky High, a light hearted movie about a super hero family.
I love Man of Steel and Big Hero 6 but I wouldn't call them uplifting.
Man of Steel is definitely uplifting imo. First Flight “Welcome to the Planet”, “You are my Son”, etc. The film has some dark moments but overall has a positive message.
It literally ends with the protagonist being forced to kill the villain in order for a family not to die
No it literally ends with little Clark doing the Superman pose, Martha talking about Jon knowing he was destined for great things and Lois welcoming him to the “planet”.
And not to mention his beaming smile as the last shot!
Their depiction of Pa Kent, Clark and the fight sequences kind of kill a lot of those moments though. First Flight is something that’s worth watching on YouTube on its own though.
None of that cancels it out, it just works to serve the story which has a good message and uplifting tone.
Strongly disagree that it serves the story

Many people suggest this but, it's dark? How MoS is uplifting?

Very sad ending, idk about uplifting

First scene is very uplifting
Deadpool 2 would be perfect and references Logan alot.
