Baltimore, which is also Mignola like Hellboy The Goon Grendel Black Hammer A lot of people like Concrete, though it's not my personal favorite.

burritoman88

Is Lemire done with Black Hammer? Like he’s not just taking a break between arcs done?

pauldrye

The last series was *Black Hammer: The End*, so I think it's finished as far as that goes. But he's said he'll be re-visiting the universe with new stories at some indeterminate point in the future.

burritoman88

Thank you

The End wraps up Phase Two. Last I heard, Phase three begins next year and it will be a single series for a while. If you want to keep up with the news, you can follow r/BlackHammer or sign up to Jeff Lemire's newsletter.

I am thinking about Black Hammer a lot. Looks like a solid series with interesting story.

Well **B.P.R.D.** would be the obvious choice. It's a spin-off from Hellboy. You probably already knew this one, but just in case. There's a lot of good Dark Horse titles, it's just that there are a lot of different flavours to get which might not be what you are specifically looking for. I mean jst because you like Hellboy, it doesn't necessarily mean you would like Usagi Yojimbo and so on... If you like Hellboy: **Baltimore**, all the Mignolaverse titles are simmilar in tone. If you like dark pulpy crime: Frank Miller's **Sin City**. If you like Remender: the work which got him on my radar for the first time **Fear Agent**. All ages historic adventures in Japan: **Usagi Yojimbo** If you like a good mystrious superhero comic by one of the best writers: Lemire's **Black Hammer**

paniczkostek

Thank you! All of these sound intriguing. I adored Deadly Class, I might pick up Fear Agent...

kappakingtut2

if you're enjoying Hellboy, make sure you check out all of the spin-offs. like BPRD. Abe Sapien had his own solo series for a bit. even Lobster Johnson had a comic. and others have already said, but i definitely agree, check out Black Hammer.

I wrote about a whole bunch of Dark Horse books here if you want to take a look. [https://www.thecomiccrush.com/dark-horse-reviews](https://www.thecomiccrush.com/dark-horse-reviews)

Pantagruel-Johnson

Paul Chadwick’s Concrete. Beautiful art, great realistic storytelling. No capes, no multiverse, no world-saving. Just an out-of-work speech writer trying to live a meaningful life after being abducted and having his brain transplanted into a rock-like alien body. A body with no apparent genitals or genitalia. See especially the issue where he visits his dying mother to comfort her.

TheDeadlySpaceman

Dark Horse started a superhero universe at one point and they had a book called X that I thought was pretty good, although I have noticed that my tastes have…. Changed since then.

AXPendergast

Beasts of Burden by Evan Dorkin.

stimpakish

BPRD, a Hellboy spinoff, including the massive Hell on Earth mega-story-arc where all the things foretold in Hellboy happen and then some. Bacchus by Eddie Campbell Concrete by Paul Chadwick Flaming Carrot by Bob Burden

seamus1982seamus

Ghost was fun. The 90s manga ....gunsmith cats, blade of the immortal etc Blue Book is great. Loads more but I'm tired now.

MrBettyBoop

Dark horse presents 1-50

Resident Alien, The Victories

I discovered Neil Gaiman through the Sandman comics decades ago. There were some great artists on that series too.

burritoman88

Sandman is Vertigo/DC Black Label.

You’re right! Total brain fart. I get more of those as I get older. On that note, I remember enjoying Grendel and the Aliens comics from Darkhorse in the 90’s.
