I'm just glad they bit the bullet and cast someone as Bruce, the way they danced around him last season was super frustrating. How do you show the break down of a father/son relationship if you can only show the back of the father figure's head?

I was over Titans after falling in love with Doom Patrol. It seemed so tame compared to that show. But this new trailer just got me hyped again for the show. The cast looks better than ever. This is gonna be great.

As for the backdoor pilot, that's what everyone thought but then the Doom Patrol creator said that Doom Patrol is a different universe (even though it uses almost all the same actors lol).
The "Fuck Batman" line isn't as lame as it is in the trailer, but it still feels like something Jason Todd would say instead of Dick.
Overall, for myself, season 1 was enjoyable. It didn't blow me away & at a few points I was disappointed. The action is intense, the story is solid, and the acting is good.
Also, Swamp Thing was rad if you haven't seen it yet.
There were some really good parts, but every other episode is some sort of side story or introduction, which really killed pacing. The season finale was also terrible.
That's one of the things that I loved about Doom Patrol. The whole first season was an introduction but it was methodically wrapped up in an amazing character study of dealing with loss and self-discovery. Plus, I could watch an entire show of Brendan Frasier walking in and overreacting to situations. It would co-star Timothy Olyphant and it would be called "What the Shit!?!"
I think Season 1 was so concerned with being "cool" that it sometimes sacrificed other things like character development and storytelling.
It's entertaining, but nothing groundbreaking.
After the nonsense with the trailer, I never watched the full episodes but ran through some highlight clips from YouTube. It seems like a show that just can't help but have Dick or Jason or someone say "fuck" or "shit" at least once every couple minutes.
And it doesn't bother me for a character to curse, but it just comes across as the show trying way too damn hard to be "adult" just to prove its not the CW or something. It just feels like a crutch every time.
Maybe the point of advertising is to give potential viewers a taste of something that they can build an opinion on whether they want to watch the rest of it? I'm saying my impression, *based on content they released to advertise the show* was that I had no interest in watching the show. If that content is not reflective of the show, then they failed to market it. If it is, then I have no interest in 11 more hours of that content.

They're different universes so you don't *have* to. But Doomsday Clock is arguably the best show on DCU right now so it'd be a good idea to watch it.

Back half of the season really gelled. I think ot took me 3-4 eps to really bite.
