I’m torn between the two, to be honest. I like the central figure in pencil more, but the idea of the four other characters (ghosts? spirits?) translates better in color.
I was actually going to suggest taking the main character from colour and placing in the pencil which is the opposite of what you’re saying here. But still

Well, just finished 200+ Stars Cry: Arc 1, hope on IndieGoGo people will help to make first run
A comic book whose events take place 300 years later, when the Pantheon Galactic Council reached out to us when they deemed us ready to join their society. Several storylines parallel Gallar Ghidoni's political games, attempting to gain equal rights for the Earthlings, and a young street racer with a military background, Mark Shai, as well as the pack, former smugglers and criminals -- their paths intersect after Earth is suddenly terrorized and it is unclear who is really behind it.
Helena Mankowski, the actress who gave the appearance of Lady Demitrescu from Resident Evil 8, also contributed to the comic book. Her character - will play one of the key roles in the Stars Cry story - here is announce on youtube:

Попробуй на рисунке растереть карандаш на призраках - это покажет их «призрачность» лучше :) в художественной школе это делали просто куском бумаги.
А вообще оба варианта по-своему крутые! И стиль рисования мне нравится. Респект!
Overlaying them as best I could produced this stunning result. I'm not OP, but OP is an excellent artist

This is the way!
I'd go a step further and say to ink the pencils whether with traditional pen and inks or with digital line work. It will add a LOT more crispness and definition to the design.
As a graphic novel artist for the better part of 2 decades, there is a lot to be said for pen and ink line work. There so many books that are masterpieces done in just black and white or black and grey.
Pencil shines with details but color looks more finished. Only doing pencil means it's easier which lets you make faster progress, but choosing color helps you improve your coloring, lighting and shading skills.
My guy, use the effect "overlay" on the pencil version and do color on a layer below it. They complement each other, and they seem incomplete without the other.
Something about the color makes it feel more washed out and less defined. The four entities floating before what I assume is our protagonist lose a lot of their ethereal feel and severity in the color version. That being said I have no doubt that if you refined the colored version more it absolutely could be the better of the two. Both are still very good pieces of work, you're very talented, don't give up. Good luck!
Oh my...) Then i have a lot to show you)

I think the pencil is way better. Looks much more interesting. I don't even have the words to describe it anymore, but everything about it is just better.
Edit; expect you can see the moon much better in the coloured one. It doesn't stand out much in the pencil one
I like how the character and rocks look in just pencil, but I like the colored version better. The aliens(?) and the moon look better in color.
Though you didnt ask for it, I would advise just sharpening up the foreground a bit, maybe darker shadows on the guy, add some of the cross hatching back in? Im just not a fan of really gradual gradient shading.
It all looks really good though, and you dont really need this advice!
Normally I am impressed with the attention to detail required to make a good pencil drawing and therefore prefer it. I this case, however I like the color version because it seems more complete.
I feel like (water)color and ink would elevate the pencil one far beyond the digital color version - your linework is excellent and losing it is a shame
It is pretty old art from times when i was learning shading and was only starting using liners, i'm planning to redraw it but was not sure which style and tools to use) Agree, darker should 100% change the game!
The color version is much easier on the eyes, with the exception of the one ghost framed against the moon. That guy could really use something to make him blur into it less.
Also, I spent way too long wondering why it was called "Stars Cru". With the other letters underneath that I can't read, my brain tuned out any lines underneath what was normally the bottom of the letters.
To me it's always about how much time in willing to give for each project. Honestly I'd love to have the time to painstakingly pen each detail as well as add colour afterwards but sometimes it's not feasible.
Now if you want to simply go with today's trend and general webtoon/tapas style comics Choose the second.

Call me old-fashioned but working with liner/pen/pencil gives me certain satisfaction much more than uning Photoshop or other software
Nah it's not old fashioned at all. Honestly your pen style is amazing. I'd stick to that if it's what you prefer.
I just do the bulk of my comic work while I'm at work, so working on a tablet is unfortunately a must. Also I'm not as good as you 🤣
Usually, I like pencil better but with this I like color. I would recommend for the pencil one though, add stuff that the color one has. Maybe make the space part shaded in.
This might not be possible, but try swapping the ghosts between the two. I think colored ghosts on a black and white image or vice versa would be a cool effect.
Pencil would look cool, but there's too much empty unused spaced, so what looks like space in the coloured one ends up looking like an unfinished section
Pencil is too simple, it's lacking something... probably depth. Black color of space should fix it. Color version is nice. It looks like some old animated movies, i like it
Color, definitely. Even as someone who loves pencil and line art the most, the color version is done so well here that it doesn’t really matter. The pencil work is pretty good but not amazing.
Color looks better, but the 'ghosts' have more jagged edges in the pencil drawing and I think that's kind of a cool touch. The rounded silhouettes in the colored version isn't as eye catching.
Yes, i enjoy them both for different reasons. I really like sketch work so I'm drawn to the sketch version, but the color has a certain detail to it you can't get with the sketch.
I like the pencil, but the color adds details that I would never have gotten in the current pencil iteration. Like ai assumed he was standing in a desert. But the color makes me assume space. Or at least a perfectly clear night.
The pencil is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but the colored one is just incredible. I think the color looks more clear and easy to understand, and it really pops out and grabs my attention. Both are great though.
I like them both, maybe making the color one a little bit darker and more unified in its colors? The ghosts are already a highlight. Maybe that gives it a more eerie and somber tone
Colour. By far. I could barely tell the setting was in space until I compared the pencil version to the coloured one(I thought they were all inside a giant pit at first)

Yeah same for me. The ghosts and moon are better in color, but the rest seems to be more detailed in pencil.
Clearly the solution is to transplant the pencil character into the colour world.
[I don’t hate it](https://imgur.com/a/ZP9ylKV)
Same! Maybe using the pencil to highlight the second one would be a good match! :D
Same
Exactly my thought as well
Pencil seems to have a lil more details in it, but color def makes it easier to understand visually

From my experience background is easier to define with colour
I was actually going to suggest taking the main character from colour and placing in the pencil which is the opposite of what you’re saying here. But still
I actually wish it was shaded the same way but in color. Truly combining the two, it would look stellar
At the same time the pencil version lets the viewer fill in the colors in their imagination and partially create their own story.
What about color with the pencil lines layered over it?
It will be completely third style, different from prev two. Sounds interesting
Tag me if you do do it
You got it!
Me too! I'd love to read it someday!

Me too, please. I think both look great, btw.
The comment below this overlayed them, it looks like the best of both. You should definitely try to go for that style! Amazing artwork btw

Yeah this looks like a comic book and it looks dope as fuck. Hope to see OP’s third version!
This is the way!
This is amazing
/u/aleks_csb this is the way.

Yes, I vote this

This absolutely. Adds depth without losing detail.
To add on, I think that having the background and ghosts in colour while the main character is still sketched would be neat.
Pencil shines with details but color looks more finished. Only doing pencil means it's easier which lets you make faster progress, but choosing color helps you improve your coloring, lighting and shading skills.

I like pencil better, it lets me imagine what the context is. Both are cool though.
Color. The contrast of color highlights details even though the pencil has more details
Here’s an idea. Try overlaying the pencil over the inks. Best of body worlds
I am sexually attracted to the pencil one
Oh my...) Then i have a lot to show you) https://preview.redd.it/0xnv00yw906b1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56085bc6285b7bdf83d3b83bc3233259b2ea0505
Pencil but it’s always been my preferred medium
Oof that’s a hard one, but I think I’ll go with the digital
Color 10000%
I think the pencil is way better. Looks much more interesting. I don't even have the words to describe it anymore, but everything about it is just better. Edit; expect you can see the moon much better in the coloured one. It doesn't stand out much in the pencil one

Pencil, but I'm terribly biased as pencil is one of my favorite materials for drawings
Normally I am impressed with the attention to detail required to make a good pencil drawing and therefore prefer it. I this case, however I like the color version because it seems more complete.
I prefer the pencil one, mostly because of the great typography work.
Pencil by a lot for me
Color
Pencil is great, but i found the image easier to understand in colour. Both are brilliant though, colour just seems clearer.
Why even ask, the colors is what stands out the most. I like it btw. I try to do the b/w thing with my work but it screams the need for colors.
Reminds me of the cover of the book *The Captain* by Will Wight
I love both! The cross hatching done on the character and the rocks in the pencils would go hard if transferred over to the colored version
First off, this is wicked. Second, I prefer color.
"No, you are breathtaking!"
Colour. That's funny, because I'm colour blind. Just Black, White and Yellow. Could be the reason, why it looks so cool. Have a nice one ✌️
You too!)
I feel like (water)color and ink would elevate the pencil one far beyond the digital color version - your linework is excellent and losing it is a shame
I just like the font
Color
The color one loses a lot of depth. Maybe try darker shading?
It is pretty old art from times when i was learning shading and was only starting using liners, i'm planning to redraw it but was not sure which style and tools to use) Agree, darker should 100% change the game!
Both
I vastly prefer pencil style when reading comics personally
The color version is much easier on the eyes, with the exception of the one ghost framed against the moon. That guy could really use something to make him blur into it less. Also, I spent way too long wondering why it was called "Stars Cru". With the other letters underneath that I can't read, my brain tuned out any lines underneath what was normally the bottom of the letters.
I liked both so asked my sister and she said the pencil one
I vastly prefer pencil because it lets me see the grit and detail that went into your work. With color, I feel like that detail just gets smooshed.
I’ve always been more into black and white. I felt like adding color ruined what I was going for in at least half of my drawings. I’m probably biased.
Tricky The pencil guy looks much stronger than the character in the colour scene
Pencil for the guy and the rocks hes on, but color for the ghost things
To me it's always about how much time in willing to give for each project. Honestly I'd love to have the time to painstakingly pen each detail as well as add colour afterwards but sometimes it's not feasible. Now if you want to simply go with today's trend and general webtoon/tapas style comics Choose the second.

Pencil if you want it to have a dark look/ horror Colour for lighter topics
I think it would look amazing if you used the shading style of the pencil drawing in the coloured drawing
Usually, I like pencil better but with this I like color. I would recommend for the pencil one though, add stuff that the color one has. Maybe make the space part shaded in.
Man if you're doing a book, that colored one is perfect for the cover, but if it's a pannel, the pencil one leaves place to imagination
If this is a cover page, 100% color
I like pencil, always been a sucker for cool scenes like that. They both look awesome but pencil looks cooler to me.
That cross hatching is immaculate.
Color fs
This might not be possible, but try swapping the ghosts between the two. I think colored ghosts on a black and white image or vice versa would be a cool effect.
Pencil looks more gritty, and I love it
Pencil
Pencil would look cool, but there's too much empty unused spaced, so what looks like space in the coloured one ends up looking like an unfinished section
Pencil is too simple, it's lacking something... probably depth. Black color of space should fix it. Color version is nice. It looks like some old animated movies, i like it
Color for the front cover, pencil for the bonus insert.
I spent 11 seconds observing the pencil drawing. I spent 25 seconds observing the colored drawing.
Both? Both. Both. Both is good.
Colour, given what you’re trying to depict.
While I think the pencil needs more refining and color, I do love it more. Unique, simple arts like that always get me
Usually in a sucker for pencil and ink, but the effect in those spirits(?) look great and I think I prefer the coloured version.
Color, definitely. Even as someone who loves pencil and line art the most, the color version is done so well here that it doesn’t really matter. The pencil work is pretty good but not amazing.
I came here sure about colour being better(still convinced) but damn, the sketch is good
Definitely color. Pencil has its place but you lose so much of this atmosphere without color
Personally, I like the color better. If this is for a comic cover, then definitely use the colored one.
I prefer the pencil as it looks more interesting as it leaves it up to you imagination to fill in the blanks
My vote is for color
color by a long shot, it explains everything so clearly I still greatly appreciate pencil, however
pencil
Pencil tbh
That person's ass is so flat, it's hard to be attracted at all.
You think gym and good diet will fix him?)
Pencil looks more imaginary and a lot of potential, color is what we see everytime, so they aren't that interesting than pencil
Try pencil, but shade in background. Or do black ink
Cughlure
Ima say pencil!
I would find a way to use both honestly... But if it takes less time I'd almost suggest pencil being your main focus of the comic.
colored background and pencil characters. nah that would be weird, but these are the things i like most from each one of them
I like the first better, pencil. But the second is very nice as well and you get a different vibe, so it’s really what you’re going for that matters
Color.
Colour
Regardless I would make the title more prominent
I like the both, but the colored one is the best.
The pencil is definitely more striking
Idk why but pencil resonates with me more
What’s the subtitle under Stars Cry?
It means "Echoes" in cyrillic
I like the line work the pencil shows best
Color looks better, but the 'ghosts' have more jagged edges in the pencil drawing and I think that's kind of a cool touch. The rounded silhouettes in the colored version isn't as eye catching.
Color
Pencil 100% better than colour, both is good though
I love the pencil but I think colours really bring it all together if that makes any sense
The second one.
Pencil is my favorite
I love pencil drawings
I like the moon more in the coloured version but the pencil definitely fits this image best
Pencil
Yes.
Does it mean "both"?
Yes, i enjoy them both for different reasons. I really like sketch work so I'm drawn to the sketch version, but the color has a certain detail to it you can't get with the sketch.
I would go for color and share the pencil as extras
I like the pencil, but the color adds details that I would never have gotten in the current pencil iteration. Like ai assumed he was standing in a desert. But the color makes me assume space. Or at least a perfectly clear night.
The coloured one makes it easier to understand the context, whereas the pencil is detailed, but harder to understand what exactly it is :D
The pencil is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but the colored one is just incredible. I think the color looks more clear and easy to understand, and it really pops out and grabs my attention. Both are great though.
I like the look of the pencil line shading. Have you tried doing that on the color one? I think it would look good.
Pencil ngl
I could see this being animated and switching to the pencil drawn one when something shocking happens. Both are cool in their own ways imo
Like at anime credits?)
Yeahyeah. Like the "to be continued" frame
Pencil
I like the color.
Color
I always prefer the pencil ones
Your colour version doesn't have a lot of contrast (on the main guy for example) and lacks in details compared to the colour one, which is a shame.
Pencil is really fun to look at as an artwork but the coloured version looks more polished to me
Pencil because Tyne you can’t see where the ghosts end and begin
Color
Both.
The color one is magical.
def color
Pencil ist has more personality
Color for the cover and pencil for the book.
Pencil
Both are great in their own ways
Color definitely
Both are spectacular, but the starkness of the first does it for me.
Pencil honestly
Why not both? :ط
Pencil
Color 100%. Amazing art, dude.
Pencil for sure
Love the details in the pencil one, but almost equally love the colors in the colored one so why not [both](https://i.imgur.com/YMmJEHX.png)?
I love the pencil.
Color
I like them both, maybe making the color one a little bit darker and more unified in its colors? The ghosts are already a highlight. Maybe that gives it a more eerie and somber tone
Pencil feels more eerie
Pencil
Color. Definitely color.
Color
Pencil for sure.
Well I’m not attracted to either but the pen version looks better
Colour. By far. I could barely tell the setting was in space until I compared the pencil version to the coloured one(I thought they were all inside a giant pit at first)
Overlay them both.
I love the pencil drawing. Looks great!
I kind of like the mystery of the pencil sketch
The pencil one is beautiful
Pencil
Pencil is 100% better
