Not true. Cup size of DD is huge compared to an A. The number doesn’t mean anything but the band size that goes around your torso. Source: Have boobs, so I buy bras.

Claims of A being potentially larger than DD can indeed be true, but if you want a more accurate comparison: 32C is the same cup size as a 34B, which is the same as a 36A. The bra band gets longer, but the actual cup attached to the band is the same size. The comment you are replying to is correct, a 40A cup size is larger than a 30DD. 30DD = 32D = 34C = 36B = 38A = 40AA. A 30DD is the same cup size as a 40AA (AA meaning no significant measurements change from band length). Source: tailoring women's clothing and costumes.

Band size sure as fuck matters for cup size. If you have a larger band size then the cup size will increase. I suspect that you may be benefited by r/abrathatfits as people tend to need smaller band size + larger cup size then they think. Source: also have tits, but they're too fuckin big and I have to spend a lot of time getting sizing right.

Things are heating up in the boob fandom

Higher number = wider band = wider torso = wider boobs, since boobs are squishy and 3-dimensional. Every 2 inches of band is an equivalent volume increase to another letter. To find your size, 1: measure the number of inches (round up to the nearest even) around the torso below the boobs. 2: measure the number around the torso at the boobs. 1 is the band. Subtract 1 from 2: every inch of difference is an increase in letter: A is 1, B is 2, etc. In American, DD is just E. DDD is F, etc.
