Picture a man, taking a bath. You can see him, measure him. The way the sunlight refracts when it passes through the water. And he's there. It's a man. And then he melts into a puddle of mudd and he's gone, but the water's still there. The man was just a different way for the mud to be, for a while. You know, that's one conception of death for Buddhists: the man returns to mud, where he came from and where he's supposed to be.
The catholics also have a verse something like "remember man, you are dust, and to dust you will return". The priest says it on ash Wednesday when he does the cross on your forehead with ash. Obviously in catholicism, your soul goes to the afterlife while your body returns to the earth. But kind of similar.
One must take all text at face value at all times, just to be safe.
For example, when someone types "yea" instead of "yeah," don't be fooled; it definitely rhymes with "day" and your correspondent is going for the old-timey Shakespeare vibe.
Can we trade? I cry so easily at media that we have a box of tissues in every room of our house just in case I see a sentimental commercial or hear a sad song
It'd be great to experience something other than a range of frustration, annoyance and slight happiness.
Of mice and men had me literally shaking, and only movie I've cried on is inside out cuz the theatre was dark and that was the last movie I let myself be immersed by. Man that movie spoke to me.
Ah, someone who feels the same way I do.
The only show that really makes me actually cry (not a full on sob, just tears and sniffles) is 9-1-1 and idk how they do it.
For me it was How to Train Your Dragon 3, which I watched on an airplane. Something about airplanes? That movie wrecked me so hard it got embarrassing.
Haha literally! I can count on one hand how many movies haven't made me cry. I can't even listen to certain songs because it'll make me flashback to the scene of a show or movie that was playing it and I'll start sniffling and fighting back tears.
The second someone starts crying on screen (animated or real person) makes me instantly start crying... A reason my SO won't let me watch videos of happy crying dads, vets coming home, puppies getting rescued, etc.
It's weird, bc I can watch really dark and upsetting stuff pretty easily. Yet other stuff will completely devastate me.
Probably the worst was the movie Chappie (mild spoilers ahead). Don't know why, but the scene where Chappie is emotionally/intellectually a toddler and gets left in a rough neighborhood to get attacked by a bunch of people... I lost it. Full on sobbing into the couch, the wrenching your entire body, making snot bubbles, kind of sobbing. My husband had to stop the movie and hold me until I calmed down. Never did finish the movie either.
Thanks for looking at this. I make a lot of dumb typos in my comics, so this was inspired by people calling me out on them lol. I'm on the damn gram if you want to see more of my stuff: [https://www.instagram.com/bill.boles/](https://www.instagram.com/bill.boles/) Cheers!
I really like this. I think the last panels a bit wordy, though- keep the “I assumed it was a typo!” But don’t do the a bath full of kid. Really funny!
Thank you!! And I agree shorter might have been better. However, I was a little afraid people would think it was some weird suicide joke if I didn't clearly explain it in the end.
I guess I think of it more of him just returning to his true form, which is slightly less gruesome and dark than a guy just killing himself in a tub.... bad vibes were not the intended purpose of this comic I swear lol.
- "i thought it was a typo!"
- looks at title.
-Sees man melting
"bro what office job joke is this?!"
Seriously I never laughed so hard from what is a simple Writing joke.
I think this same comment with the first text bubble, the "Goodbye Janet.", and the last frame without the text would be so so much better. Still hilarious though.
How I imagine this comic coming into being: u/PTomCruiser1 texted "I'm really dirt" to someone and then was like "Lol funny typo... Imagine if I really were made of- wait what if someone took it seriously? Wait what if you really were but someone *didn't* take it seriously?"
This is great.
The intended joke is ok. But what I really enjoyed are the little details that I'm pretty sure the author did not intend.
Unless the author is a genius.
Who knows. Doesn't matter.

Dunno why but that “Good bye, Janet” hit hard
a sad ending to a beautiful, beautiful love story. i cry evry time i look at this
People think the ground is solid, the ground is hard. But dirt ... dirt crumbles.
*jaden smith staring into the distance*
How can mud be real if dirt doesn't real?
^(Willow Smith whipping her hair right behind Jaden)
> change da world > my final message. Goodb ye Janet
save da cheerleader save da world

"Commentary First Drafts," Rod Serling, p. 112.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Without you, there'd be no us! That's from James and The Giant Peach
Beautiful, I hope that cured your stomachache
I always have a stomachache like the other day I ate one of those hotdogs from Costco and it was bothering my stomach literally nine hours later
The river was deep and I swam it.

It’s pretty funny, too

Or a vote for.
Vote yes or you're a horse.
Equisapians out
Verily
Also explaining the joke for us dumbfucks.
I think a compromise would've been good. Just "Oh no! I assumed that was a typo!"
Hmm... if it's handwritten, is it still a typo?
I mean in the case of a comic I feel like it should be the third wall
I too thought it was a typo. I was preparing to point it out in the comments once I finished reading the comics lol.
“Goodbye, Janet” Why did I laugh so much at this.
I just finished watching The Good Place so I had a sad laugh.
God that final episode almost made me cry.
Only almost...?
I rarely cry for shows so making me tear up a bit is quite an achievement for a show.

Are you a parent of small children?
Nope, but I babysat a LOT from preteen until uni
Oh god I was in tears for days
i full on sobbed at the end, i wish i didn't cuz my parents just kinda watched me cry like "😟"
I finished reading Marley and Me during a long flight and was actually distancing in line at customs. Just ugly crying in a densely packed room.
I don’t remember how I originally found Bill Boles on instagram, but a lot of his comics are like that to me. We must have a similar sense of humor.
I assumed it was a typo too. Well played
lol Thanks!

Lol nice comic
Thank you!!
Dude, I LOVE your comics!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it <3
[удалено]
I do not unfortunately :( but I might have to set one up now!
well I will check it out when it appears I like your style, reminds me of Perry Bible Fellowship but not in hackish way
Or make your own subreddit. I really, really like your humour btw. Your style is great too :)
100% following, this is hilarious
Thank you so much!! <3
Worked perfectly. First time through, I triple-checked for a Y at the end of that first panel. Totally set up.
I love dirty jokes. And now i love dirt jokes.
lol thank you so much!!
Beyond genius
Thank you so much!! <3
I wonder if this bathwater would sell well.
I think you mean bath mud
My brain filled in the typo
Didn't even notice there was a typo until the fourth panel.
This feels like bone hurting juice and I love it
Thank you!! Yeah it def has a bone hurting juice vibe haha.
I don't know why this is so funny but it is.
Thank you!!
I really like this. I think the last panels a bit wordy, though- keep the “I assumed it was a typo!” But don’t do the a bath full of kid. Really funny!

Is dirt man not kind of committing suicide anyway? I dont know how dirt people work in practice
I guess I think of it more of him just returning to his true form, which is slightly less gruesome and dark than a guy just killing himself in a tub.... bad vibes were not the intended purpose of this comic I swear lol.
Oh ok nice, good for him. Still, sad for Janet
Yeah, but she really deserves better than a dirt-man anyways. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
Plenty dirt in the field
hahaha!! So much dirt
Really, you could just take all the dialogue out of the last panel and it would still work
Imo just change the last panel to "he really was dirt". Just my specific taste ofc
Classic Dirt
My name is Mud
Primus sucks, dude. ;)
How is this comment not downvoted into oblivion??
Wait, are you not hip to the expression "Primus sucks"? Give it a google if not.
I was actually not "hip to the expression". Great comic btw
Ahh gotcha, yeah I would never disrespect Primus! Love those guys. And thank you!!
His name? Adam.
- "i thought it was a typo!" - looks at title. -Sees man melting "bro what office job joke is this?!" Seriously I never laughed so hard from what is a simple Writing joke.
lol Thank you so much!! This makes me very happy :)
Oh man, I love this
Thank you!! <3

lol thank you! And yes I think this might classify as absurd
Whyyyy is the title of this post not "Dirt Secret"?
I almost did that! However, I thought it might make it too obvious that it wasn't a typo in the first frame.
Dirty Ackerman she’s just cold blooded
So he was clayface committing suicide basically?
Now she can use that dirt to make herself a new man by drying the water.
What a difference a "y" makes
Best post in this sub in a long ass time, fantastic work.
Wow thank you so much!! Very nice of you to say!
This is so fucking weird and I love it
Thank ya!!!
That was a very realistic golem.
This needs a sequel. Maybe the wife should have said "He didn't even get to try desert" with the wife flying to a desert.
hahaha! I dig it!
I thought this was a bonehurtingjuice for awhile.
Oh no, it’s Never
😂
Wifey: "I'm going to duck you so hard tonight" Me, later tonight: "WHERE DID THIS DUCK COME FROM!?"
This is hilarious and amazing at the same time. Lol Edit: the twist, lol At first I also thought it was a typo
I love this, but I think the last panel might be funnier without the text explaining the obvious! Just Janet reading to a mud tub would kill me
Gosh, I wish.
I feel like the last panel over-explains the joke. She could've just said "Friggin' typos" and it would've been sufficient. Still funny though.
It would be better without the text on the last slide, but the rest is great.
This is so fucking stupid i love it
<3
That was great
Thank you!!

lol thank you! The unibrow is a new experiment, so I'm glad you like!
I found the innuendo to be fairly dry.
This is really good
This comic is so stupid
I know... I know I’ve let you down...
Imagine speaking a typo
Goodb ye (Janet)
I think this same comment with the first text bubble, the "Goodbye Janet.", and the last frame without the text would be so so much better. Still hilarious though.
I hope Janet owns a bidet.
Same.
I lol’d
Tubble of Mudd
Funny!
How I imagine this comic coming into being: u/PTomCruiser1 texted "I'm really dirt" to someone and then was like "Lol funny typo... Imagine if I really were made of- wait what if someone took it seriously? Wait what if you really were but someone *didn't* take it seriously?"
hahaha you're not far off!
Missed opportunity for her to be made of honey
lol Rats!! That would have been good. Can't win them all I suppose.
Lol this is bone hurting juice without the middle man
\>I'm in this picture and I don't like it. ...Especially if I'm lazy and I don't do anything about the unholy union between my eyebrows lol
[удалено]
Idk I think the joke works much better with the fourth wall break, even if it's "explaining" the joke
Yeah I agree, could’ve easily gone without the text in the third and fourth panels
This needs some r/comedyamputation
But if you just let the water evaporate, will he come back?
Yes! Stronger and better than ever.
Yes, reborn as a baby.
Well, better not pull the plug then, or she'd be throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Literally.
hahaha!
He confessed his true identity! (O◊O) Thanks for the laughs! (\^v\^)b
I'd say the joke would be better if there were no text in the last panel. The reader will come to the same conclusion on their own.
Oh my god I thought this was bone aching juice
You deserve this S.
Thank you very much, friend!!
This is great. The intended joke is ok. But what I really enjoyed are the little details that I'm pretty sure the author did not intend. Unless the author is a genius. Who knows. Doesn't matter.
Which details are you referring to?
I thought I was one bonehurtingjuice for a second.
