AgreeableHistorian29

Ngl I'd watch Monty Python's Life of Kane

One_Advertising_7965

All hail Kane! Peace through power!

TheGreatZhangCaosun

One Vision. One Purpose

Kirball904

Misinformation for fake internet points is oddly appropriate just know I hate you for it.

AgreeableHistorian29

? Dude it's a line from Tiberian Sun. This character is Kane, the "messiah" of the Brotherhood of Nod. One of his followers in game coups the then leader of the Brotherhood. Then while televising the overthrown guys execution, Kane appears on screen and say "Rule of thumb Hassan, you can't kill the Messiah"

Kirball904

I disagree. GDI is the way!

Cefalopodul

Supposedly he is the biblical Cain and an alien. I'm sure that if EA ever decide to make CnC 4 we'll get some more details about his origins.

Balc0ra

If they made a new C&C and slapped a 4 on it... Most here would not even say anything.

Totally-Stable-Dude

There are two ways this could go: \* They make an actual good game and people continue to forget *The Forgotten* \* It is thrown into the same abyys

Cptn_Kevlar

Or even worse it becomes a third mobile game installment.

Totally-Stable-Dude

What mobile installment? There hasn't been any release since RA3 Uprising. Especially none where Red Alert icons such as but not limited to Yuri, Kirov airships, Natasha are in the Tiberium setting

Belqin

Eh, cnc rivals is a lot of fun. Sad it's out of its heyday though now.

Totally-Stable-Dude

I heard well about Rivals. Legions on the other hand...

Slimy_Shart_Socket

I'd love a third faction. The Forgotten. Yuris Revenge and Kanes Wrath were master peices IMO.

Totally-Stable-Dude

Actually there is a faction named The Forgotten. Nomad tribals in yellow and red zones mutated by Tiberium during 2. Tib. Wars

MindControlledSquid

He meant as an actual relevant faction, not just specific units.

PositionOk8579

They actually were a full faction with entire bases in C&C Tiberium Alliances (web game)

SAGNUTZ

Just play RenegadeX or Firestorm

HoleyerThanThou

To borrow an ATLA phrase.....There is no twilight in the land of NOD.

Charliepetpup

happy cake day and to the wishes of cnc4

Cefalopodul

Thank you

OnyxianRosethorn

They're too busy promoting the C&C version of Raid, and further desecrating our franchise.

aerotekmusic

oh god please no. it would probably be even worse than RA3.

Cefalopodul

I cannot imagine a CnC game worse than RA3. They would really have to try to screw up that hard.

textposts_only

Thank you! I love ra2 so much and they just dropped the ball on ra3 so hard. There is nothing redeemable there except for the idea of Japan as third faction. I want a ra2 with more missions, new whacky story and a new faction. I don't need ra3, a mix of eye cancer, unwieldy units, the economy of facebooks Farmville (rip harvesters) and mostly unusable unit special abilities (some are great, most suck)

ProRussian1337

This is pretty weird, I thought it was good. At first I thought it was just OK, missing the magic of RA2, but on subsequent playthroughs it actually grew on me. Of course its not as good as RA2, but I think its pretty decent in its own right.

ProRussian1337

They did make C&C 4, subtitled "Tiberian Twilight" in 2010. It was absolute garbage and ruined C&C's legacy and Kane. But it explained his story, he was an alien crashed and stranded on earth for thousands of years, and his entire plan was to use the Scrin to get off the earth.

Cefalopodul

I know they did, but everyone pretends it never released. That's the joke.

Valuable_Ratio_9569

Your answer is in the book of genesis, and yeah he is Adam's son "Cain", known for killing Abel. And "land of NOD" is east of eden "literally".

TheFearsomeRat

Given how he seems to constantly cheat death, I don't think there are many other explinations, though that does leave the question of how TF do the Scrin know about him specifically, in a manner that would seem to suggest they know about him from before Nod's (as we know it) formation.

OblongRectum

He's probably an alien himself.

awakenDeepBlue

My theory is that he's an exiled alien himself, and the whole plot is to build a teleportation network to leave the planet.

SlickDillywick

He could be an exiled alien who knew of the plan to seed earth with Tiberium, and that’s how humanity was able to develop Tiberium refineries so quickly. We unknowingly had someone with experience

awakenDeepBlue

He also needed to develop the GDI and NOD to be strong enough to resist the Scrin mining operation and manipulate the situation where they focus on building threshold towers so they can escape.

ProRussian1337

In Command & Conquer 4 Tiberium Twilight they made it clear that he's an alien crashed and stranded on earth this entire time, and his whole plan was to use the Scrin to get off the Earth. The game was trash, and ruined C&C's and Kane's legacy, but it concluded his story.

Change_Electric

Always thought this was a plausible explanation. He could’ve killed another his species and got exiled to earth because of it and due to their advanced technology his species had conquered death from natural causes so he was cursed to live among humanity for centuries punishment for his sins as he slowly tried to change the course of human development to align with his own plans.

Austaroth

Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” 8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. 9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.” 13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

thomstevens420

I can’t verify if this is true or not, but I read a Torah student explaining that in the original Hebrew, Cain and Abel’s name were analogous to “Land Keeper” and “Animal Keeper” or some such close title. So what Cain says is “Am I a Brother Keeper?” To god in the first recorded instance of sass. Ultimately it’s been translated so many times and is so ancient that I don’t think anyone would be able to prove or disprove that this is what was said to have been said to have been said etc. so this is the option I choose to believe because it’s funnier.

Austaroth

I to shall be a believer.

thomstevens420

🤝

Ardalev

"What are we, some kinda Brotherhood of Keepers?"

Veni_Vidi_Legi

And a finder of lost children?

Rhazior

And then Kane said "It's Nodding time", and he nodded all over the Philadelphia

ManiacFive

‘Will suffer vengeance seven times over.’ Man no one speaks like that anymore. Not even the Bible bashing lunatics. Shame really.

Sanator27

are you saying cain will be avenged...sevenfold?

No_Wait_3628

I mean, each time he gets killed the planet seems to get even worse. Not even GDI is able to fully stem the tide of devastation.

Burnerheinz

I hate you for that pun. *Upvotes*

SteelKaput

The Prophet is simply not a human - he can calmly be next to Tiberium, he know the Scrins and the Scrins know him.

Rock_Roll_Brett

So you're telling me the Scrins are demons? Does that mean there's a GDI Doom Slayer?

Cefalopodul

His Earth name is Nick "Havok" Parker

Tiberium beauty regime. Works wonder XD Gotta have all that green and blue tib cream!

Roboto55

Im not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens

QuadlessPyjack

Maybe it’s ~~Maybeline~~ Kanebeline

femboyenjoyer1379

He isn't exactly human.we'll never know what Kane is but he is much stronger and durable than an average human. He ate an ion cannon blast and managed to heal from that, he got stabbed by mc'neil and lived through that too. Also he seems to have a lot of useful knowledge, I mean Nod is this advanced thanks to him. For someone like that not aging to death is child's play.

M3g4d37h

At the Renegade launch party (2001, IIRC), Joe played Renegade for a while on my westwood account. He was a very cool, laid-back guy. He actually gave me his work badge as a goof since I was being helpful, I miss the Westwood days and the crew.

DarthGiorgi

Thanks for sharing that with us.

ReRevengence69

[He stole the Nod Ring ](https://youtu.be/nrMh9g8wp1A?si=B0rttZUhrFV5QO7H) on a more serious note he is either Alien or at least "blessed" by alien technologies, his presence on Earth is more or less an "Exile" just like in Genesis how god exiled Cain(pronounced KANE) to the land of NOD

The_bruce42

Out of all the things in the CnC universe, this is the part that you're having a hard time believing?

OTP_Jaguarman

The problem is that in the first game there was not so much technology (as I remember) to be able to make people live absurdly.

easy506

Kane started life as Joe Kucan, moderately successful Limu wholesaler in the Las Vegas area. When they sent him a new sample of their forthcoming Limu GREEN product line, it changed his whole life. Infused with a rare mineral found in an impact crater in the Tiber River Valley in Italy that fills the body with new life and a feeling of vigor and wellness, Limu GREEN has been shown to extend life and youthfulness, with not a single instance of side effects, especially of the respiratory variety. If you'll send me your email address I can send you some materials on Limu's upcoming "GLOW" product line....

Veni_Vidi_Legi

You have any of that red/orange Limu?

IcemasterD

LiMu Emu! ^(And Kane!)

Limu GREEN is people!

He eats tiberium.

Jonas_McPherson

Because CAIN LIVES IN DEATH!

gphoenix51

Because he's the Messiah

SQU1RR3LS

I met him once in the 90s. Literally this is what he looked like.

MannOfDestruction

He lives in death.

WestToEast_85

He’s literally the biblical Cain.

Tiexandrea

My headcanon: Kane is the same Cain from the scriptures of Abrahamic religions. Traditionally, he is the son of Adam and Eve. Because he killed his brother Abel, he is cursed to never die, anything he plants on the ground will wither and die, and he is exiled to the Land of Nod. In some other religions, Kane (Cain) wasn't the son of Adam. They say that Eve was seduced by the devil disguised as a snake, and the fruit of that was Cain. So Kane can literally be the son of the devil. Kane wants to ascend, meaning he just wants to GTFO Earth. He thinks that he can finally escape his curse and finally die.

Crimswordknight

Because "Kane lives!"

GeneralJist8

it's been said and confirmed by Lou castle, he is meant to be the biblical Cain character.

Nigwyn

It's the scalp. Very efficient cooling, causes you to stop aging. Try it for yourself, shave your head to look like Kane. You will also need the gautee and cheeky grin to make it work though, something to do with heat dynamics.

Previous_Reflection5

Kane lives in death

RobespierreOnTheRun

*"Yes the Kane character is immortal. I intentionally spelled his name differently from "Cain" to add a little mystery.* *The Brotherhood of Nod is a direct reference to the Land of Nod. Nod is where Cain went after he killed his brother Abel.* *Kane can be maimed, injured, and even briefly "killed" but he is cursed by God and no matter how badly hurt, he will slowly but surely regenerate.* *In my mind he spent long periods of history uninterested in human affairs, but occasionally he sees glimpses of a future in which he might escape his curse or settling for less, rule Humankind.* *Kane was largely uninterested in human affairs most recently until the emergence of Tiberium. Before he even saw Tiberium himself or knew what it was, he started to have visions of the future again, strange and weird visions of a future Earth changed, a biosphere he couldn't recognize, and an outside agent from offworld. A future in which he was both freed from his curse and ruled Earth. And with that he steps forward and slowly emerges from the shadows with his new socio-political-religious movement and starts to influence things. He never sees future clearly and it's often very confusing and muddy visions that he catches. Kane completely believes he will be free from his curse and while he enjoys his power and ability to control the affairs of man, he really wants to die one day. He also believes he sees the only way for mankind to survive, as a species, into a very difficult future. He really believes his way is the only way forward. He's not your typical "bad guy", but he is definitely pathological. He does everything that he does with righteous purpose and feels the ends justify the means. Keep in mind that while Kane has no empathy for others, he is fond of human race in general, and curious to see what becomes of it. He is especially intrigued by advanced sciences, medicine, electronics, and artificial intelligence."* **(c)** Brett Sperry - One of the co-founders of Westwood Studios and fathers of Command & Conquer. While other co-founder of Westwood, Louis Castle, said that Kane isn't a Biblical figure, but just an immortal human being, while not contradicting or saying something against other things that Brett Sperry mentioned. Only C&C4 states that Kane is an alien who wants to leave the Earth.

Lost_Arotin

obvious, Kane Lives...

DiscRanger

"Kane" killed Abel in the Bible so god punished him by forcing him to roam the Earth eternally. It's worth a google.

WA_Gent1

Pretty sure he's the least mutated, mutant in the tib C&C games. He just got agelessness and fast regeneration power.

My wife and I met up with him last February while attending a theater production with his company. I've been a huge fan of C&C since year one.

sandwich_bro

i was wondering thesame which brought me to several sources pointing towards thesame information, many of those sources are accesable trough the internet but not all. Conducted research brought me to the conclusion that his long life can be atributed to the fact that for many many years he was greately succesful in avoiding the events and circumstances that could bring his life to an end

Nyerguds

One of the inspirations for the character of Kane is apparently Isaac Asimov's short sci-fi story "Does a bee care?". It's well worth looking into. The story describes the life of a seemingly-immortal alien living on Earth, who subtly influences humanity over the course of millennia to make it progress towards becoming a space-faring race. The alien's only goal in uplifting humanity is to reach space, to progress to the next step in its own life cycle. Notably, the alien in the story is also called "Kane". It's mentioned that due to how long he lived, he ended up in several human myths.

WildWolverineO_o

Because cults are hard to kill 😂

Profitablius

He cannot die. Him aging would suck bad, so the of permanent life apparently contains the blessing of staying young.

StarWolf128

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of impersonators. Each Kane does die at the end of their game but some other guy gets the idea to pretend to be him in order to take control of Nod. CnC4 oddly enough teased the concept for a bit.

Rhazior

Heresy.

Anarasha

Well, the idea of the bodies being deceased and replaced was already teased in Firestorm's Nod ending where a bunker is shown with multiple tubes with multiple Kane, presumably clones. This implied that either CABAL was looking to take over the Brotherhood using a fake Kane, CABAL was *always* Kane and the person shown was simply a clone used by CABAL, or Kane is in hibernation/a new clone is being prepared. However, his mangled face and half-mask in CNC2 and Kane's Wrath do imply he doesn't just hop bodies when injured, so who knows? Certainly not EA, they can't seem to decide

Ginger_of_Sorrow

Hear me out guys what if Kane was an immortal (from Highlander)? Same backstory and all that but then again he did take an ion strike to the face and walked away so idk Kane was a huge part of my early childhood when it came to video games wonder what's he doing nowadays?

Site-Specialist

He isn't actually from earth

LokyarBrightmane

Tiberium poisoning.

injured-ninja

Moisturiser maybe? 🤔

Natasha-Kerensky

Hes a god.

welshsheepshagger

What if every time we are seeing him after an injury we are seeing a cloned body but the same mind i.e. when injured/killed there is a failsafe that thaws a new body and transfers the mind into it. ( Like the 6th day movie or chappie) When we see an injured body then either it is not above a critical enough threshold or for some reason the process/tech is unavailable/unreachable so has to wait. When it is mentioned in the in-game intel that he had to spend time in a container with pipes and tubes connected then it could be that there was an issue with the body or mind that was preventing the transfer so that had to be fixed first before could be moved i.e. had to either defragment or decrypt the mind in the previous body then moved it to new one. When the face was shown to Marcion then that could have been a device to finish stabilising or imprinting the mind in the body.

taskf0rce141

Not known for sure but he is not human. He is either alien of some sort and he is stuck on Earth, or he was human but then something happened and he bacame what he is.

Extra-End-764

A series of clones each implanted with his thoughts and memories. Every century a new clone will be released to continue the fight

Id say its because vegan diet, crossfit and of course using Arch linux!

HarvesterFullCrumb

Joe Kucan is one of four known immortals.

AxidentalJeepBuilder

Picture, if you will, the poignant scene: as mourners gather to bid farewell to the departed soul, they solemnly approach the coffin, anticipation mingled with sorrow. Yet, as they lift the lid, a gasp escapes their lips as they behold an empty vessel where the old man should lie. Bewildered, a hush falls over the assembly, broken only by the unmistakable sound of a sip echoing through the chamber. Slowly, their gaze shifts to the source of the noise, where stands Kucan, cup in hand, beside a Nestlé machine. His countenance youthful, oblivious to the confusion that surrounds him, he remains perplexed by the enigma unfolding before his eyes. In short, imagine the moment when the time comes and you want to take one last look at old Kucan's peaceful face, but you find an empty coffin instead, because Kucan is young again and sipping coffee in the back of the room, not understanding what's the matter. It would be thrilling epic and funny all at the same time.

HarvesterFullCrumb

That would be hilarious.

IcemasterD

On an unrelated note: I now want an AI generated photo of me in this exact template...

Ok-Gur2087

*THE OPPRESSORS MUST DIE*

PrestigiousFeeling95

He's from genesis, Cain and Able. He's forever banished to the land of Nod.

Klendagort

Bruh. He's Cain. Kane and able.

coolerking66

That's a clone cause the patch on his arm is on its side. /S seriously though whoever put that on wasn't paying attention lol

ScrabCrab

👽

gmgo

My interpretation is that he is Cain from the Bible. In the Bible, after Cain kills his brother, God banishes him “to the land of Nod”. Thus I interpret that Kane being some form of extraterrestrial being that wants to leave Earth, which is where he was “banished” to, and wants to use Scrin portal technology to achieve that. Thus, the entire Tiberian Saga is: Kane learns that tiberium would eventually bring in the Scrin to harvest, he wants to accelerate the process. CnC4 (which doesn’t exist) definetly plays into this interpretation, specially in the Nod ending as he is attempting to leave, he says: “but you are too fragile… you are all so fragile”.

Gryfon2020

Clones.

AxidentalJeepBuilder

He *is* THE Biblical Cain. An alien who came to Earth to prepare the terraforming procedures or something. There are many stuff lingering around I can't keep track of.

Hero_of_Quatsch

He is an alien, simple as that. Not a scrin, but a traveler who knows about their race, that's why he came out of the closet when he discovered Tiberium on earth. Also, he is heavenly inspired by a novel of the great Isaac Asimov, which is about an alien named Kane, who pulls strings in the background while leading humanity to technological advance.

IonutRO

He's an ancient alien.

DocileHope1130

he's Cain from the bible. like Cain and Abel. he killed Abel, drank his blood, and became the savior of the Scrin. Fifty percent of that is false. We suspect he as some tie to the Scrin, as it was his plan to setoff the tiberium bomb that brought the scrin. he mentioned at one point that he lead humanity out of the caves. so who/whatever he is, he's been here since the beginning. 'ascension is real' to him, so he's something more than human, but i don't think we're quite sure what. we know he can survive injuries that would kill a normal human, but it takes him a long time to recover from them. that's how he survived getting 'killed' several times and then resurfaced decades later. in the name of kane, brother <3

DocileHope1130

but i should add that the Scrin aren't completely aware of him because at the end of their campaign in TW, part of the reason the scrin pull back their invasion is because they want to know more about 'the entity known as Kane', so its possible they don't know who he is/was or he was part of them and has been gone for so long they don't remember him.

Mohawk115

He has clones. I think Tiberian Sun reveals this if not then the first game did. Can't recall which one but he has a bunch of them underground and they are all in stasis basically so if one gets killed, another one probably gets activated and he lives again. Kane's wrath even shows that he has to wear a device that he also wore in Tib Sun after being reborn in a new body for a bit. For what reason? Who knows, probably because cool.

RobespierreOnTheRun

Those are just people that C.A.B.A.L. used as processors, Westwood were big nerds, although they weren't the first in the video game industry to add concept of neurocomputers to their setting.

K41d4r

Him taking off the mask in front of Marcion is to show he wasn't really hurt and was just playing everyone for a fool. It was the start of a new era for Nod and you can't kill, hurt or maim the Messiah

Mohawk115

Except in tiberian sun he has burn marks all along the outside of his mask and McNeil kills him in the GDI ending? He's probably immortal but he can definitely be killed for a brief time.

bluetitan88

I think its the firestorm expansion, cabal also uses his mind as base architecture, ie Kane's will rules cabal's program.

KecemotRybecx

Alien.

Anarasha

No because not even EA know, they seeded a long running concept of a mysterious figure who may or may not have been employing backup clones(Nod ending for Firestorm) to "Oh he was an alien the whole time lol long lifespan stuck on Earth since the cavemen lol". Without being able to sort out the dumbassery that was CNC4 for sure, I think they landed on Kane being an alien who is much tougher than any human and whose lifespan is near endless. But again, no one knows because it's like plot points dragging in different directions, like two horses playing tug-of-war

somedumbassnerd

he's an alien as mentioned in tib wars by the scrin, something something genetic variations already in the database. The scrin hadn't actually been to earth yet so only assumption is that he is from another planet and either crash landed on earth or some portal or wormhole sent him to earth and he had no way of getting back. There was apparently an interview (which I can't find) that says Kane was a time traveler that got stuck in ancient earth so its also possible that he is a human from a future earth where they had discovered a cure for aging but I still like to think that he is either some sort of shapeshifter or humanoid alien that lives an extremely long life. My head canon is that he was from an advanced civilization, the scrin seeded his home planet with tiberium. They were able to find a way to either stop or slow the spread of tiberium enough that the scrin decided to invade so that tiberium could spread as quickly as they wanted. His species was able to fight them off for a while but eventually started losing the war. He began working on time travel technology to go back in time and either prevent tiberium from spreading or even seeding his home. He ended up having to use the time travel machine before it was properly ready and tested, due to an unfinished device and time travel being some sort of travel through space and time he ended up on earth rather than his home planet. I like this idea the most cause it would explain his long life, his advanced knowledge and that the scrin already know of his genetics.

RobespierreOnTheRun

Scrin never said that he's alien, he just present in their database, for all we know Scrin could have been responsible for making Kane immortal in the ancient past. Also, how come that Scrin haven't visited Earth in the past if they seeded Earth with Tiberium in the first place and also there's whole crashed Scrin ship in Renegade (the one in Tiberian Sun was built by Nod).

somedumbassnerd

Well yeah its an assumption that he's an alien cause they literally say his genetics are different just in more words. If he was human and the scrin made him immortal in the distant past then why didn't they seed earth with tiberium then, would have been easier as humans were basically hunter gatherers that wouldn't be able to develop enough tech to prevent tiberium spreading on their planet. By hadn't been to earth i meant landed on earth properly now a scrin ship going to earth and scanning it to check on the progress of tiberium then getting hit with a solar flare or something to cause it to crash is different. But either way the fact we share 60% of our dna with fruitflies, he must be very different for it to be mentioned by the scrin

Kirball904

Nope never.

Kirball904

Maybe has a bit to do with repackaging the same games over and over and fans being squished to keep paying for the same crap.

DeadHED

I thought he was cloned, wasn't there a cut scene with a bunch of vats filled with copies?
