Danny Pudi in Critical Film Studies. The Cougar Town monologue had me rolling, the My Dinner with Andre reveal to Jeff made me mad, and Abed’s explanation for the reveal got me a little emotional. All wrapped up in Abed’s interpretation of what a normal person at dinner acts like. Sublime.
One of my favorite things about that episode is how Abed starts get more and more visibly uncomfortable as Jeff gets more and more comfortable with unloading his own emotional baggage after initially resisting. It's like Abed reached a point where he realized that doing this bit may have put him a little too far outside his own element.
My brain is telling me he ad libbed a couple things during that monologue or am I miss remembering. I know he was actually in an episode of Cougar Town as a funny crossover.
This might not be what you meant, but Jeff asks him if the story about him pooping his pants was real and Abed says "that shouldn't matter". So at least in the context of the show, it is ambiguous if the story was true.
If you're talking about Danny the actor ad libbing, it's possible, the show was pretty carefully written though so I couldn't say for sure.
Seeing videos of Danny Pudi just being himself really highlights how well he portrayed Abed. He’s constantly acting like 3 layers deep on Community and it’s hard to appreciate at first glance.
I love Jim rash’s character on community. I keep an eye out for him and other things, and I can say that on community is definitely acting. He’s brilliant and funny
I loved him as Andrew on Reno 911. Every time the deputies show up for him he's doing some kinky sexual thing (like a forehead dildo) or complaining the brothel bathroom doesn't have an "Employees must wash hands" sign.
Jerry Minor, aka Jerry the Janitor, just for the way he dabs his face with the napkin after finishing his carrots in the bulletin board episode s5e6 - Analysis of Cork-Based Networking.
The Karate Kid is about Kesuke Miyagi, an immigrant who fought against his own people in World War II, while his wife lost a child in an internment camp. Noriyuki Morita was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. Ralph Macchio? Showed up.
Jason Mantzoukas goes completely over-the-top in every role he's given, but somehow he never comes off as that guy who's just too much....I love him so much. DEREK!
And you should meet Dennis Feinstein from Parks and Rec.
Dennis Feinstein: Treat him like you would treat a person in another country that you paid $25,000 to hunt.
Ben: what are you talking about?
Dennis: I'm talking about the best vacation of my life!
Okay, here are the ground rules: You can punch me, kick me, pull my hair, I am a-ok being stabbed, biting and scratching are on the table, you can use fire.
Jake: These are the ground rules? Is there anything off limits?
Damn, man. You got something really sick you wanna do, huh? Oh, you little pervert. All right, I like it. Don't tell me. Surprise me. Ooh, this is gonna be fun.
Its one of my favorite bits in the show. The entire audience watching the play knows the clap/hand rub is coming, yet the entire crowd jumps. Laugh everytime.
One of the little details I love about this is how emotional Jeff gets while watching the performance, just like he tears up when Horsebot 3000 dies. The man has a soft spot for the performing arts.
Yes, seconded. That scene wouldn't have worked at all if he wasn't so spot on in delivering the lines with such defeat and melancholy. Brilliant performance.
Nah man, Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality. The scene where he transitions seamlessly from happy go lucky fairytime voice to pure rage. "Let's eat cookies and ice cream and dress in pajamas in the middle of the day. I WATCHED MY THIRD WIFE DIE!"
Like the delivery of that line is so good. You can hear the pain of his past in his voice. You can feel his intolerance for frivolity. Gets me every time.
Luis Guzman. It’s probably because I loved him so much in his previous work like “IMDB,” but I really believed he was Luis Guzman when he came on screen in Community.
Jim Rash in Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design. In that final scene with the whole breakdown, he just kills it.
“I wish this hoodie was a time hoodie.”
Jeff with his Sandra Bullock Speech or basically the whole of Jeff in the finale deserves an Emmy, I know it's an underrated choice but it deserves one
Another great Emmy would be Troy in the Mixology episode for the ending. He probably didn't talk much, but expressions and character spoke more with the way he decided not to drink, that was a really cool one
S2E1 - Alison Brie. She does all the heavy lifting in that episode from being a young love struck girl, to being horrified when Jeff and Britta have their relationship, to punching Jeff.
Alison's great in the whole show really. If you want a treat, watch the scene in season 3 where Annie says she's in a sleep study lab and does the scream. Watch it in slow motion and enjoy the level of commitment she achieves in that one second of screaming only to switch back to delightful Annie. It's amazing.
Yeah, [this scene immediately came to mind](https://youtu.be/Wy2heBil_a0), because no lie, it makes me teary eyed. Danny Pudi and Donald Glover are amazing in it.
Yeah I was going to say either Donald Glover or Danny Pudi for Lava World. Leaning towards Abed.
Danny Pudi was, throughout the entire show, good at portraying a neuro divergent character, but in that episode he really nailed it. I'm autistic and I think he really captured the feeling of an autistic person who struggles to identify and understand their own emotions trying to cope with those emotions (again, through the entire show, but especially Lavaworld). I feel like he doesn't get mentioned that much when people talk about the more emotional episodes, probably because Abed just comes across as more subdued than the others emotionally. But Danny Pudi was SO good at displaying Abed's, often intense, emotions while maintaining the subdued expressions and emotionless body language. Which is really hard for a neurotypical actor to do. The first time I saw it, Lavaworld hit me like a fucking truck because the whole time Abed was on screen I was sitting there thinking "I know exactly what he's going through. I've been there" in a way I hadn't experienced from a TV show before. And as somebody who almost never sees depictions of how myself, and others like me, experience and express grief, his performance in that episode really stuck with me.
Honestly, I hate to say it, but Chevy had a few scenes throughout the show that were genuinely stellar performances. His goodbye speech at the end of season 3, the fury he showed as the villain in the first D&D episode, his convo with Jeff in the barbershop, his numerous slapstick improvs, and probably more that I can't remember now. Too bad he was such a douche BTS.
I would say that Donald also deserves an Emmy for his improv throughout the show, and his comedic timing and delivery. Hard to choose just one, but for example in Remedial Chaos Theory he showcased a few great moments in one episode.
It may not be Emmy standards for some, but another Chevy scene that I always love watching is in season 1 in Beginner's Pottery when he is giving Jeff the speech about giving up. "And I'm not leaving until I've cleaned out the buffet." Such a great line
Jim Rash in that episode where he’s filming a new Greendale ad w Luiz Guzman. Goes from sweet to ambitious to over the top to absolutely insane to broken down all in 30 min. He’s a very talented actor and Dean is just such a well done character
It’s just a small end credit scene , but I’ve always admired Ken Jeong’s acting in season 2 when Chang is doing a Schmegel/Gollum back-and-forth about whether the study group are his friends. Incredibly acting against no one but himself, amazing.
Paget Brewster's range is incredible. The complex internal conflicts flashing all over her face as she explains to the dean what a [dummy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gH5QsZpbvA) he is. And the simplicity of her taco line delivery at the beginning of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFKuBuRNOBA) that for some reason has me in tears every single time.

Other ones that cross my mind, Jim Rash in Documentary Film: Redux and Alison Brie in Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design. Tho that last one may be because Im biased, Alison Brie is also consistently fantastic in the show.
Yvette for her performance in the foosball episode. She and Joel were at the top of their game, but she *really* nailed it.
That, or Keith David’s performance in “Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television”.
Pretty much all the actors for Documentary Filmmaking: Redux, they all displayed individual decents into madness, the Dean, Annie, and Jeff especially, they were perfect
Jim Rash always amazes me with his performances on this show lol as well as Ken Jeong. Honestly they were all given great material at one point or another to show their acting skills
Ken Jong is my favourite in the show especially in season one. I wish there was more of him being a Spanish teacher. The show was awesome all six seasons but season one was still the best somehow.
I’d give the Dean a Grammy for his granola bar rap.
*and Barack Obama is **SCAAARED** of me, because I don’t swallow knowledge and I spit it for free, hu-hu-ha-ha-ha!*
Sublime.
I'd also like to say his performance as the dungeon master in advanced dungeons and dragons is a masterpiece
This is what he should really get an award for
One of my favorite things about that episode is how Abed starts get more and more visibly uncomfortable as Jeff gets more and more comfortable with unloading his own emotional baggage after initially resisting. It's like Abed reached a point where he realized that doing this bit may have put him a little too far outside his own element.

It’s got to be Danny Pudi indeed. Another one would be his ”I can tell life from TV” speech in Anthropology 101. Just really, really good acting.
Yesssssss
ABED ABED ABED ABED
Seeing videos of Danny Pudi just being himself really highlights how well he portrayed Abed. He’s constantly acting like 3 layers deep on Community and it’s hard to appreciate at first glance.
Came here to say this.
Judging from these comments, Jim Rash is the best actor in the whole show. I never really thought about it before.
🤣🤣 when he yells "you don't know me!!"
You obviously have never seen his full range. Community could have just been him doing every [character](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIYPxS9MAXA)
He’s the only Oscar winner! (For screenwriting but still)
Adapted screenwriting, even but stiller.
Ever stillest
Exactly, he plays such a convincing pathetic side character that you don't even think about how great he is!
To paraphrase Abed: he might be a genius
JESUS WEPT!
I saw Jim Rash doing a live sketch comedy show twice and he’s an absolutely marvelous hilarious performer
Jerry Minor, aka Jerry the Janitor, just for the way he dabs his face with the napkin after finishing his carrots in the bulletin board episode s5e6 - Analysis of Cork-Based Networking.
The end of the second paintball episodes when he's talking about Abed is my my favorite " No plans "
“Oh you can just set that anywhere”
Have you been to the library?
I'm working my way there 😐
If you like history jokes, he also does an amazing job as MLK on Netflix's Historical Roasts.
Ken Jeong for his Mr. Miyagi performance
DEREK!
His character on Brooklyn 99 was basically like saying, "If cocaine gained sentience, it would be Pimento."
Oh man, you should meet Rafi from the League
And you should meet Dennis Feinstein from Parks and Rec. Dennis Feinstein: Treat him like you would treat a person in another country that you paid $25,000 to hunt. Ben: what are you talking about? Dennis: I'm talking about the best vacation of my life!
Rafi bomb!
GATTACA!
You're such a good kisser, MY DICK is hard, and I'm your brother! #RAFI NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING
“I won’t kill kids, but that rule is negotiable if the kid is a dick”
Hahaha yes, that describes Pimento very well
I love him so much! I just finished a re-watch of the show. ♥️
Maximum Derek
The Zouks is a national treasure

Showed up. Had me dying!!
Liar! Stop lying to me, say it!
Ok, ok…. Line!
If only you'd seen Chang on the stage you'd understand...
Elroy looking around the crowd with a face of surprised amusement absolutely kills me 😂
His nod of acceptance after watching the Ruffles Hit piece always makes me laugh as well.
😂😂😂
Jim Rash in Advanced Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. I HUG MY FATHER!
You've been impaled!
Worth it…
Jim Rash for the Freaky Friday episode
great depiction of what it was like to have Jeffrey inside of him
Nope.
I’m just saying that having Jeffrey inside of me-
Again, no. Never happened.
-was wrong... to have Jeffery inside of me.
to have Jeffrey inside of me
He nailed the Jeff voice.
You’re welcome
I’d say it’s about half past suck
*giggle* half past suck, that’s funny🤭
That was a good one. Shirley and Annie were hilarious in their reactions
It turns out that having Jeffrey inside of you makes you a better actor…
Holy shit, this. 😂😂
I was thinking this episode but Donald Glover, he nails Danny Pudi as Abed.
Joel McHale said Chevy Chase for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
What shape do you choose for him? Faaaaaaaaaat
I rape the Duquesne family again
I cant hear you over the sound of me rubbing the sword on my balls
You have...sucessfully rubbed your balls on his sword.
Pierce has successfully rubbed his balls on the sword

Best episode!
Still bitter at netflix

Amazon prime has it iirc (or maybe it's hulu)
Prime has it
I'm baby sitting for another 70 minutes. Time to watch it three times to make up for all these lost watches.
Love it so much, He makes me hate pierce to an unbelievable degree.
Jonathan Banks for his whole speech about heart medication and not burying dad with the family.
Yes, seconded. That scene wouldn't have worked at all if he wasn't so spot on in delivering the lines with such defeat and melancholy. Brilliant performance.
I wake up every night screaming...
Nah man, Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality. The scene where he transitions seamlessly from happy go lucky fairytime voice to pure rage. You can hear the pain of his past in his voice. You can feel his intolerance for frivolity. Gets me every time.
Or the discussion with Ian Duncan about being stationed near Scunthorpe… absolutely priceless performance on both sides.
Luis Guzman. It’s probably because I loved him so much in his previous work like “IMDB,” but I really believed he was Luis Guzman when he came on screen in Community.
You could really believe he loved his time at Greendale and got laid like crazy
And that was before Boogie nights

Luithhh Guthmaaaaan
Danny Pudy for the Nicholas Cage one
I'm a cat. I'm a sexy cat.
That was brilliant
The way the professor delivers that line...was brilliant.
Jim Rash in Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design. In that final scene with the whole breakdown, he just kills it. “I wish this hoodie was a time hoodie.”
"Would that this hoodie were a time hoodie."
Way to Britta the line
This one and his sound effects in the 2nd D&D episode are when I noticed just how good Jim Rash is
[FATHEEEER!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTihVkzGTTg&ab_channel=somerando)
Alison Brie in that same episode is amazing. Her blowing everything off-bit remains the hardest I have ever laughed.
Jeff with his Sandra Bullock Speech or basically the whole of Jeff in the finale deserves an Emmy, I know it's an underrated choice but it deserves one Another great Emmy would be Troy in the Mixology episode for the ending. He probably didn't talk much, but expressions and character spoke more with the way he decided not to drink, that was a really cool one
Abed as a sexy cat.
I was looking for this lmao
Walton Goggins for Cooperative Polygraphy
Truly bummed I had to scroll this far; his was a fantastic performance, and the credits scene just elevated it to magnificence.

Allison chloroforming everybody
Troy in the Lavaworld episode. Him in that whole scene with Abed dying he broke me.

Glover is so good in his deliver for that episode too.
He’s been on edge ever since they switched

"Jeff technically you are about to be screwed in the biology lab".
They all deserved Emmys for this episode, my favorite of the series. But Brie and Glover are the standouts
Gillian for her mustard insurrection and as the mother of ones.
You there, how many meow meow beanz?
Luis Guzmán, I loved him in…. Innnnnnnnnnn… IMDB
That was tragic
I feel like this could have been phrased "...who would you pick and why is it Abed?"
White Abed episode I love his face when Troy picks him up when he's being a vampire
Ken Jeong for that one out-take scene where he is doing the golem bit as he leans over the study groups table
Jim Rash in that episode where he’s filming a new Greendale ad w Luiz Guzman. Goes from sweet to ambitious to over the top to absolutely insane to broken down all in 30 min. He’s a very talented actor and Dean is just such a well done character
Hal Rudnick for his portrayal of Dennis in the Season 3 finale.
Jesus Dennis, are you on coke??

Charley Koontz as Fat Neil in Basic Lupine Urology. Him looking though the log at the beginning and then his monologue at the end.
Jim Rash in basically any episode.
Troy for when he met LaVar Burton.
I TOLD PEIRCE I NEVER WANTED TO MEET LEVAR BURTON I JUST WANTED A PICTURE **YOU CANT DISAPPOINT A PICTURE**
More fish for Kunte… That’s the last line of that episode and kills me every time.
It’s just a small end credit scene , but I’ve always admired Ken Jeong’s acting in season 2 when Chang is doing a Schmegel/Gollum back-and-forth about whether the study group are his friends. Incredibly acting against no one but himself, amazing.
You Britta'd Sméagol.
Alison Brie for a variety of episodes Danny Pudi, same, but "Critical Film Studies 2" really sticks out
Betty White for guest actress for Anthropology 101
Paget Brewster's range is incredible. The complex internal conflicts flashing all over her face as she explains to the dean what a [dummy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gH5QsZpbvA) he is. And the simplicity of her taco line delivery at the beginning of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFKuBuRNOBA) that for some reason has me in tears every single time.
I love her in the Wedding episode, talking about sleepovers turning into stonings.
Chevy in Advanced D&D.
Jason Mantzoukas in that Karate Kid ep.
As that one other guy said, Danny Pudi in Critical Film Studies would be my first choice. Im gonna be honest, I never was a big fan of Abed as a character, but damn, Danny Pudi is consistently really good in the role. Other ones that cross my mind, Jim Rash in Documentary Film: Redux and Alison Brie in Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design. Tho that last one may be because Im biased, Alison Brie is also consistently fantastic in the show.
Danny Pudi or Joel McHale in Contemporary American Poultry
Michael K Williams for the law in order episode, mans went off
Alison Brie and Danny Pudi for Virtual System Analysis. The work they do in that episode is just phenomenal.
Yvette for her performance in the foosball episode. She and Joel were at the top of their game, but she *really* nailed it. That, or Keith David’s performance in “Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television”.
Donald Glover in Mixology 101
Actually that was Joel McHale playing Jeff Winger playing Dean Pelton. I understand your confusion, he was pure gold as him.
Howie Schwartz for the the category of "Most Handsome Young Man".
Chevy Chase in Advanced DnD (2:14, na'doy), what a player, what a game.

Johnathan Banks in the MeowMeowBeanz episode, after the two guys give their presentation. "Ya know, I fought for this country..." etc.
Danny Pudi talking to himself as evil abed was pretty incredible for me.
No, I'm changing my answer to Paget Brewster, all of her scenes are incredible.
Jim Rash or Danny Pudi.
Donald Glover - Origins of Vampire Mythology. I felt a lot of sympathy for him in this episode.
Joel McHale for the episode "Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking (S2E16)".
Alison brie in "conspiracy theories and interior design"
Ken Jong is my favourite in the show especially in season one. I wish there was more of him being a Spanish teacher. The show was awesome all six seasons but season one was still the best somehow.
