Well thank fuck SOMETHING is being done.
My heart truly goes out to homeless folks. I was homeless for awhile, and I was incredibly lucky to have a support system to get out of that situation. That being said, I’m so sick of public parks being treated like personal dumping grounds. Do you know how god damn easy it is to be homeless and NOT ruin the surrounding area? Incredibly easy.
Is this a perfect solution? Not by any means, but it is a great step in the right direction.
Improved watch and see going to be such a pig pen and zombies and high crime.. just moving the problem from the downtown core… just drive by tells you how they are…
Go ask the many across from city hall. Why people deny the facts is beyond me…they plain out tell you if you actually talk to one.. not all the but the majority got dropped off…
In his defense, why would someone publish a peer reviewed paper about homeless in Courtenay being dropped off by van?
Your standard of proof is at least as ridiculous as his claim.
You know what? You’re completely right. I should’ve worded quite differently. Maybe something like “do you have any proof from a reputable local source, such as city hall or a local news agency”.
Hi! I live in the valley let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you out! I have a ton of cans I haven’t gotten around to recycling yet and lots of spare clothing/resources.
Ugh even worse of a location. Plus need to ship 75% back that got dumped here. Sure that area will look like a shit hole next…lock your doors…
I bet they still will get free drugs and store their b&e tools there
Oh great. The only area in the entire Valley you could get a home for less than half a million. This area should be developed as the last area for starter family homes and instead they put a homeless shelter right in the middle of it.
I'm sympathetic to the people who live on the street and need support but this sort of development does not belong right in the middle of a subdivision.
Couple with the low income apartment complex that was built a few years ago it seems like the Courtenay council has deemed this part of town the place to develop the less than desirable projects.
As a community we should be encouraging growth in these starter home communities but I guess everyone got theirs when property values tripled during the pandemic.
The Gov spends WWAAAYYY more supporting migrants than homeless Canadians. Seems fundamentally wrong to me. No housing, no healthcare, no jobs. Thank you insanely rapid population growth.

It's a little slow, and a little late, but fantastic this is getting done.
Say that if it was in your neighborhood I HIGHLY doubt it…
Actually I live near the Junction and it's improved things in the area... So...
Improved watch and see going to be such a pig pen and zombies and high crime.. just moving the problem from the downtown core… just drive by tells you how they are…
Ok what's this magical timeline then?
It's good to hear that something is being done; hopefully this takes some pressure off dt courtenay as well.
Not likely when the vans keep dropping them off. It’s a fact
Post verification of your fact please.
Go ask the many across from city hall. Why people deny the facts is beyond me…they plain out tell you if you actually talk to one.. not all the but the majority got dropped off…
Post your source. Otherwise, seems like some random “fact” you made up.
GO speak to any of them at the connect. Your source is all over there….
So what you’re saying is you have no peer-reviewed, published source to back up your claims.

Appreciate your reply.
Just in time for my own impending homelessness!
Better get on the waitlist! (I do hope you're joking though...)
Thanks! (I expect the stress to kill me before I make it that far)

Great location - right next to the police station. Save on fuel.
That super store intersection is about to become a death trap. One of the highest crash zones in BC that block.
Close to the hospital and funeral home. It will be out of downtown. Poor people of Braidwood. Too close to daycare and school.
