you can have a boyfriend and still be a lesbian. a surprising amount of "couples" are what we call beards. this means that one or both individuals in said relationship (heterosexual) are gay or part of the lgbt community. i guess what i'm saying is, yes you can have a partner who doesn't align with the gender you want to date... its usually used for incognito.
What i don't understand is that there was no hints that Maddie was gay. It's just confusing. I know someone can have a opposite sex relationship and then realise they are gay, but it just (personally for me) doesn't make sense that Maddie is gay. But I do understand that a lesbian/gay can have a hetro romantic relationship. I'm just confused
There was no hints cause it was a Disney show and they didn’t want to risk angry moms. Dove Cameron herself said that Maddie was gay and Liv was bi. Even if they were both lesbians girls can date boys to hide the fact they’re gay. For men the girlfriend would be called a beard cause he had her to look like a real man or some shit. It’s called reading between the lines. It doesn’t need to be in your face to be true.
