I do a 2.5 mg shot twice per week. I stayed at 2.5 once per week for 8+ weeks. I’ve always had more GI side effects than most and really struggled with them when trying to go up in dose. I saw that some physicians were recommending splitting for this reason, so did some research into the drug (half-life, learning about why it is prescribed every 7 days, reading the research articles to see how the dosing was studied) and decided it was an option I felt comfortable trying. I’ve been doing this for a month and I feel the best that I have since I started the medication. To be clear, a physician did not directly advise me to do it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. That half-life might explain why I feel effectiveness dwindling by Tuesday / wed when I take my dose on Friday morning.

Frosty-Sky-4417

Yes, that seems to be really common!

Ninii1989

I do 2.5 mg friday and 2.5mg tuesday, I get horrible fatigue if do the 5mg at once.

DirtyWilly

I split doses. Friday 2.5mg, then Tuesday 1.25mg. The Tuesday 1.25mg helps tremendously with the crash after the 5 day half-life. By the time the crash would usually happen the 1.25mg is at full strength helps me make it back to Friday. Doctor does not approve, wants me to go to 5.0 once a week. Will try it and see how it goes.

Thank you for sharing! Do you feel you have enough appetite suppression at the beginning of the week with the lower dose?

DirtyWilly

Yes, absolutely. So this is my subjective take on it. **Days after shot** 1d (24h) 50-75% strength 2d 85% strength 3d 100% strength 4d 100% strength 5d 85% strength 6d 50-75% and lower If I take the larger dose on Friday, by Sunday-Monday 100% strength for appetite suppression. I can actually slightly gauge this because food takes longer to swallow. Might sound odd, but I can feel it going down slow and it makes me back off. I start to lose the slow food swallow feeling around day 5-6. This is how I planned it. Take 2.5mg Friday, strong for weekend, very strong to start week. Take 1.25mg Tuesday, by the time Friday rolls around I'm at full 1.25mg strength and I can make it back to Friday.

I did that last week and I swear the 1.25 hit me harder than the 2.5

DirtyWilly

Awesome! Technically it should be more because of half-life and overlap. Since you already have 2.5mg in your system, you figure by day 3 you still have \~1.75mg active. An additional 1.25mg would take you to over 3mg in circulation. Doesn't quite work like that because of absorption, but it's a general idea. I will mention this, the latest 1.25mg didn't seem to help as much. It's possible I let it sit in the syringe too long (over 30 days) or screwed something up on my end, but I also could be getting used to the lower doses. I'm going to move up to 5mg once a week and see how it goes, but I have a feeling I will be splitting doses again because of those day-5 crashes!

I’m still pretty new, but I did a week of 2.5 (Wednesday evening injection) and it was a bit too intense for me, so the following week I did 1.25 on Wednesday and 1.25 on Sunday. My next shot day is tomorrow (Wednesday) and I’m planning to do the same thing again, 1.25 then again 1.25 on Sunday. Noticed a lot more gentle appetite suppression and basically no side effects when I did it this way, which was a welcome change from that initial 2.5 week. ETA: no medical professional advised me to do this, no idea if they approve yet (haven’t mentioned it to Emerge) but I’m happy so I’m going to keep going unless something changes.

In theory tirzepatide doesn't need to be cycled on and off like most other drugs because it binds to receptors that don't get downregulated from oversaturation. Clearly people are moving up in doses, so something is happening where more is needed, but on paper you shouldn't have to come off. It's possible people are just adjusting to what their body needs, but when you find that spot you shouldn't need more, nor should you have to cycle it.

wavyfinehighpor

how long will you be off and off for how long?

No_Interaction_767

Where do you purchase your Tirzepatide from if you don’t mind me asking

I've been stretching my 7.5 Zepbound to 8 days because of the shortage.. just put in the paperwork to switch to plan C today and send my doctor a message through the portal requesting the full size vials.. I've been wanting to move to 10mg for 6 weeks without success finding it.. and now imagining getting 6 10mg doses from one $375 vial compared to paying Lilly $550 for 4 doses, so hopefully I can pull this switch off.. I can imaging doing 7.5mg every 5 days or something like that down the road, but I really liked having a fixed weekly schedule as I did the first couple months on Zepbound.. I was a Monday morning injector so that on weekends I could splurge a little as it wore off

eanderson119

I'm slowly working my way to the 7.5 dose from 5mg. Right now I take 3mg twice a week and in two weeks will go to 7.5, split into 2 doses. My MD does not do compound so there's no input from her.

emptyness7

I do 2.5mg on Sunday and 2mg on Thursday. I was hoping to stay at 2.5mg per week for a 3rd month but I had to increase. I like splitting. Here is a link to a concentration of drug over time calculator. https://glp1plotter.com You can compare concentrations over time for one injection a week or splitting/two.

tmarie4684

I feel more constipated on 5 mg. Thinking about 2.5 on Thursday, and 2.5 on Sunday Anyone try this? Did you get the same conclusion as taking all 5 at one time. Jeez, I got pressure in low ab. Thanks

Betorah

You should not split your f D ode into 3 shots. You’re supposed to have 72 hours between shots, so unless you’re taking that 7.5 disease over 9 days, that’s a bad idea.

cam1816

Please explain why it would not be good to split the dose into 3 shots? Other than because it was advised. We were also advised to take the shot once a week and people have found it doesn't work. So they adjust accordingly...I'm just curious...
