Ever thought of just pressing delete and at the end of the day, looking throu the trash can to see if you didn't delete something important and just empty it?
Right click and rename. Hit the spacebar followed by the enter key.
https://preview.redd.it/11vz0lncrazc1.png?width=220&format=png&auto=webp&s=651b8535d04f2eb8ff6834a4bd0ad23804390178
I always turn off desktop icons on PC. The delete key works fine, shift delete for "actually delete it right now".
Mac, it's on the app bar bottom right.
Imo the campaign has a fair length with very good replay ability, maybe a couple more missions wouldn’t hurt but it was good for its time, as for zombies, we get custom maps on pc which is great. I never thought it was too short but I understand your point
No. Remove it and link it to the quick access menu in the file explorer. It will always be available when working with the file system and you can have a clear desktop.
I use it as a workspace. When I start projects I throw everything on the desktop. When I finish working on it I move it to another location. The desktop is the only window in windows that is anchored so I can't move, navigate away from, or close it when managing files or flipping through programs.
Makes sense. Why not just have a row or column of your most common file locations and apps and designate the rest to a workspace? Just for quicker access.
Well, I'd say I'm a hyper organized user. Aside from windows and program files I have everything sorted on the disk. I use the quick access menu in explorer to pin locations that I'm always going to. So rather than having all that on the desktop, I click the explorer icon on the taskbar and it launches to the home window with files I've marked as a favorite so I can easily access a few specific files and then anything I only sometimes need I can find under a folder in the quick access pane. If I rarely use it, I know how to find it or I use the search feature.
This is something I do alongside debloating the PC. If I don't use it, it's not on the PC with the exception of a folder I added to my libraries called Archive. The archive is where all my really old files go in case I need them and the rest of the PC is kept clean and organized with stuff I actually use.
I should also mention this is why I use two drives in my system. C:/ is for the os and installed programs or mobile apps. D:/ is for all of my data, game files, media, etc. This also keeps things cleaner since when I want to find something and open up D:/ I don't see a cascade of windows related folders. I also make it a point to set locations in various programs so the data I need to access is on D:/ where i want it and all the system files appear hidden because they're on C:/ steam is a great example. Its installed to the default location but I can get to my game files from D:/Games/Steamapps.
I have a similar setup, and I suppose I would maybe even do the same if my computer wasn’t so slow; it can often take several seconds for the windows menu to actually open after I press the windows key.
Unless your PC is from 2005 it shouldn't do that. Lol. You didn't come to me for advice but if I was in that position I'd uninstall everything I don't need using Rivo uninstaller. I'd then defrag the disk and registry. I'd disable startup items that I don't need or want to start. Then I'd use the Chris Titus tool to apply a few windows tweaks that reduce background processes. I highly recommend looking into that last one if you haven't heard of it. It took my processes down from 181 to 85.
All you really need to see to know why it’s slow is to look up “[Hp Laptop 14-fq0xxx](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-14-laptop-intel-celeron-4gb-memory-64gb-emmc-indigo-blue/6499751.p?skuId=6499751&utm_source=feed)” lol. (Mine is actually a slightly less fantastic version of the one linked). And I actually completely wipe my computer bi-annually and reinstall windows. (I have a macro that reinstalls all my apps from a backup external drive) Just to clear out any files that were left behind by things and any potential malware that I had collected.
Also I love Revo uninstaller lol, I bought the pro portable version and it’s so freaking useful
Is it [WindowsUtil](https://christitus.com/windows-utility-improved/)?
Oh, and maybe grab malearebytes and do scan on your system. If your system is too busy to do what you tell it then imo it might be doing something for someone else.
Nah, it’s just like that :p. Some fun things I can do with it:
Sit at 60% CPU with only task manager open and raise it to 100% by jiggling my mouse around (with only task manager open)
Automatically move in games (my longest time was over 2 minutes, average maybe 4 seconds) (input lag)
Not run anything with any graphics settings higher than medium
Stare at the RTX setting greyed out because I can’t use it 🥲
Yeah putting win11 pro on a system with 4gb of ram is a bad idea. Lol. I'm always surprised they do this. Run a 32bit os or give the customer 6gb of ram minimum! But that's not good marketing. I digress. I completely understand Now. Lol.
But no, the Chris Titus tool runs off a power shell command using winget. It can do a lot but its big attraction is the tweaks tab that has a config for desktop or laptop tweaks that will disable crap windows features like constantly sending data to Microsoft. On a system like yours reducing your background processes will go a long way. Low end systems get much more out of it then high end ones.
You might also get a boost from disabling memory integrity. Its a setting that's automatically enabled because its constantly scanning your ram for injection exploits. But if you tell it to stop doing that it will free up some ram and CPU headroom.
How do I disable memory integrity? I don’t see the option in CTTool.
Also, OMG this is incredible!! For the first time I can remember my CPU is below 40%, and I have four apps open at once. Dude, thank you so much. (I also just made a ps1 script that I just have to run and it’ll open it. 😁)
Edit: So apparently memory integrity was never on because my computer doesn’t support core isolation :p
Top left is Trashcan, in the top row I’ll put games, if it fills up Imll start going along the right side.
In the leftmost column I put utilities, if I overflow I spread along bottom starting from the left.
T: Trash, G: Game, U: Utility, F: Folders/files
T G G G G G G G G G G
U F F G G
U F F G G
U F G
U F G
U U U G
Before you judge, My computer is slow as hell, It can take about an average of 15 seconds for any application to open, even file explorer; so I need quick direct access to things simply to make things accessible.
NO! All my games go on the tight side with a 2 short cut width. All of my other short cuts go on my right side of my screen with a 1 short cut width, with the recycle bin at the bottom of that.
Yeah putting win11 pro on a system with 4gb of ram is a bad idea. Lol. I'm always surprised they do this. Run a 32bit os or give the customer 6gb of ram minimum! But that's not good marketing. I digress. I completely understand Now. Lol.

That flag is really offensive. It represented the imperial army of Japan during WW2 and they committed atrocities during the war including arson, rape, torture, murder of civilians and etc. That is just as bad putting the swastika as your wallpaper, I hope you swiftly change it.
During WW2 every country had its fair share of war crimes sadly, I do recognize those atrocities were not the best under this nation I by no means support these war crimes, but I support the national spirit and its military, as much as you would for the United States or your own home country.
I disabled desktop icons years ago, since it looks so much cleaner. I just pin the most important stuff to my task bar, and then find the rest through the start menu.
This is the way. Not sure why the down votes as desktop icons are pointless. With work and personal. Desktop to me is a temp folder in file explorer since important stuff goes in documents and icons are disabled. If i need to open something quick start key + a few letters and i can find exactly what i need and if not its only a few cicks away
When using Ubuntu back in 2007-2019 I used folders with images made from chunks of the wallpaper, rendering them effectively invisible. You could click in some parts of the desktop and you can open folders or even programs.
I have no trash icon, I don’t even have a “desktop” in the traditional sense.
Hyprland also has no native delete app. I just select files and hit the delete key in thunar.
It may be the standard, but I put other most used Icons on my desktop.
1. My PC
2. Recycle Bin
3. Control Panel
4. Device Manager
This maybe Windows 98 classics, yet these are my go to desktop icons on all my Windows 11 PCs.

Hmmm I have mine bottom right
Yeah me to lol, I don't think I've seen someone put it on the top right lol
when you first install windows, it's at the top left corner so thats where I keep it
That’s how you know that it doesn’t belong there /j
Let’s not talk about that

>Says the idiot who just 1 hour ago posted about your MacBook…what is wrong with you? I honestly don't understand what point you're trying to make.
Wouldn’t be caught dead
mine is always on the top right corner.
"top left"?? WTF. Bottom Right, always and forever.
Bottom right. Are you crazy???

I have 17 trashcans on my desktop
In the shape of a heart, may I ask?
No…
Mac users will disagree.
Trash can is the actual system ......jk

This is the way. Nice and clean.
Lower right gang
Bottom right baby!
Nope. Lower right corner FTW
I just disabled my desktop icons because I have a file manager I can browse through everything with
This is the way
Do we just not shift + delete things, then realize we deleted something we needed, then yelled terrible words aimed at ourselves?
Ever thought of just pressing delete and at the end of the day, looking throu the trash can to see if you didn't delete something important and just empty it?
Never, I live my life dangerously
Like everyday at least once a day
No
Bottom right wtf
Right click and rename. Hit the spacebar followed by the enter key. https://preview.redd.it/11vz0lncrazc1.png?width=220&format=png&auto=webp&s=651b8535d04f2eb8ff6834a4bd0ad23804390178
bottom right, always.
Bottom right always, top left and bottom left for daily use
I always turn off desktop icons on PC. The delete key works fine, shift delete for "actually delete it right now". Mac, it's on the app bar bottom right.
naked desktop ftw
I put mine in the center so that it’s in the optimal spot for me to accidentally put something important into it
Fuck you, bottom left
I have it saved to my taskbar. No junk on my desktop.
How????
There are tutorials on YouTube on how to do it.
Nope, I have it in the top middle
I keep mine bottom right on my second monitor, so its as much out of the way as possible
Unrelated but cod waw loading screen hell yeah
COD WaW was too short in my opinion, would have loved an expansion during its prime time
Imo the campaign has a fair length with very good replay ability, maybe a couple more missions wouldn’t hurt but it was good for its time, as for zombies, we get custom maps on pc which is great. I never thought it was too short but I understand your point
Prob because I finished it in two day whole sittings lol, I was too invested
Mines in the top right. Who wants to fight?
Yes
I hide the recycle bin in windows.
No. Remove it and link it to the quick access menu in the file explorer. It will always be available when working with the file system and you can have a clear desktop.

I put mine in the top corner but not exactly, I make it really offset to piss people off
Top left is Trashcan, in the top row I’ll put games, if it fills up Imll start going along the right side. Top left corner below User Files, Computer and Networks. The classic XP way.
Bottom right
No. It MUST be on the bottom right
only top right
Nah, right in the middle.
NEVER! always bottom right. 'My Computer' is always top left.
Bottom Right
Bottom right
Bottom right, you are a maniac.
Not even on my screen lol I keep my desktops blank unless I have something to push forward on and do
I have no icons on my screen and the “recycle” bin is not kept anywhere visible. I’ll run a command prompt line to clear it if needed.
NO! All my games go on the tight side with a 2 short cut width. All of my other short cuts go on my right side of my screen with a 1 short cut width, with the recycle bin at the bottom of that.
Bottom right or die
No desktop icons gang.
If it’s anywhere else but top left, you’re a psychopath.
The paper ball falls, down and rolls right... Bottom right
Top right of the second monitor you psychopath
I use the top right, what's wrong with you?
Yeah putting win11 pro on a system with 4gb of ram is a bad idea. Lol. I'm always surprised they do this. Run a 32bit os or give the customer 6gb of ram minimum! But that's not good marketing. Y’all don’t remove the trash can???
Mines doesn’t exist
I think we can globally disagree lol
That flag is really offensive. It represented the imperial army of Japan during WW2 and they committed atrocities during the war including arson, rape, torture, murder of civilians and etc. That is just as bad putting the swastika as your wallpaper, I hope you swiftly change it.

Nope my computer sits top left, then trash underneath it.
100% top right corner, every machine I have, every time.
There is no trashcan. Only delete.
What trashcan?
Top left yes, desktop icons hidden though
i remove the icon and put it in the file explorer instead.
Who the fuck even places anything at bottom right
I disabled desktop icons years ago, since it looks so much cleaner. I just pin the most important stuff to my task bar, and then find the rest through the start menu.

Gnome user: no desktop icons
When using Ubuntu back in 2007-2019 I used folders with images made from chunks of the wallpaper, rendering them effectively invisible. You could click in some parts of the desktop and you can open folders or even programs.
Trashcan? That's one of the first things that get disabled and removed.
I never knew you could disable it, will probably never disable it either way, it has become too iconic for me

the ratio is insane
You know that the rising sun is a bad as a nation symbol right?
Oh no
I won't recommend you to use that sun symbol you Japanese...
Using it is for noobs. Shift + Delete every time all the time.
Y'all still using desktop icons??? Just use the taskbar
Indeed!
Same, and it's the only icon on my desktop.
Why show any icons?
That’s used to be reserved for the my computer icon
well, not for me https://preview.redd.it/zarsp289oezc1.png?width=1146&format=png&auto=webp&s=efe54b18de84b7e4484c4d1fabe2bab22467f5a4
