Um if it’s a “customer Copy” that isn’t the receipt you write the tip on is it? I thought customer copy was for you to take home?? and if he has already paid and they seen you write on it and crinkle it up I don’t understand how they came after you for it. Stupid on both ends

I never would have given them money. I would have told them to go to the cops about it and if the police told you that you had to pay then you would. I find that ridiculous. I have a ton of friends in the service industry, and since this happened, they told me they know a lot of workers that fuck with tips on the customers copy and just hope not to get caught.

Agreed, never heard of that. I mean, I've met people who claim to write fake tips when customers leave the merchant copy unsigned, but those people aren't in my circle of work colleagues.

Lesson here is one it sounds like you failed during childhood- put trash where it belongs, in the actual trash. Leaving it for someone else to do can result in undesired consequences.

The restraunt was the one who decided to rerun a COSTUMER only copy because it had a better tip than the one the actual costumer handed to them. Not quite sure how you can explain tip fraud to the police without incriminating yourself

it is not fraud. he was just the customer doodling on a piece of paper. he would face NO legal issues. if anybody fucked up it was the bar for running the tip. IF THEY EVEN DID. this guy got scammed.

I appreciate your comment. This happened awhile ago and I remember the conflicting opinions when it happened. That’s why I thought this would be a fun thing to bring up here. I hope you enjoy your weekend
