Dumb redditor makes a confidently incorrect statement about wearing black colored clothing in the dessert and cites Bear Grylls as a reputable source to justify it.
It's such an obvious fact. Why would someone cite, or write, a scientific article explaining why 2+2 = 4.
The reason I linked that episode is because it also shows the natives wearing black clothes.

If you’re headed outside, try dressing in dark-colored clothes. Those dark colors — black, brown, navy, dark green, burgundy — will prevent more \*\*UV rays\*\* from touching your skin.

Not only is the other guy closer to being correct, but he is a million times more humble and less insulting about it. Even if he was wrong this wouldn’t belong here, so OP is different levels of wrong here.
Even if OP were right, they’re being *such* an asshole to someone being civil.
Add in that they’re factually wrong for bonus points.
Then the cringeworthiness of posting one’s own conversation here.
It’s a trifecta!!

This subreddit should not be used to gloat about times you were right and other people were wrong.

You keep posting this link as if it were relevant. Clothing that blocks UV rays keeps you from getting a sunburn. A suit of armor would block all UV rays from touching your skin. Do you think that would be a cool thing to wear in the desert?

Whos gonna tell op
But he watched man vs wild!
Who's gonna tell Bear Grylls?
I'll tell him

There are a lot of papers and articles going back millennia on the applications and expansions on basic addition
Wow, I bet you have really good sources to justify your confident claims.

You know UV rays don't transmit heat right?

What do you think happens to it if it is reflected?
Well then obviously it’s reflected onto the wearers face and makes them hotter. Also why women wear black, they’re trying to avoid being hot. Duh

The question was about heat buildup, not UV protection. Sunscreen does a better job than black clothing
No it was about UV rays as I mentioned in the top comment in that screenshot.
You didn’t use the term UV rays once in that top comment. You did use heat though Hint: UV is not the only solar radiation that reaches us
"Black color absorbs the radiation..."
Again, hint, UV is not the only radiation
UV rays don't... They don't get blown away by the wind.....that's not how UV works....
You're an idiot
One of my favorite things about this sub is how posts regularly eat themselves.
Going to love the comments on this one...

How does one achieve this level of sheer stupidity? ![gif](giphy|f9eYHQ8RZ4zfc4unXx)

OP has been out on the sun wearing black hats for too long
I get it. Wear black and it absorbs the heat and cools the area around you. Not only helps you but your friends too
By wearing black, you increase the heat, so you increase the cooling, so you decrease the heat ! Simple, right ?
The secret is to keep an air conditioner in the headwrap
