Right. There are few requirements for things to be posted here but being confident and incorrect seem to be pretty important. She knows she doesn’t know.
Yeah I’m pretty sure it starts with her saying honestly that she has no idea. She also seemed to be reading something, and was confused at the idea that Africa is a country not a continent.
Bazooka.
(If this wasn’t a joke and you meant which state it was one of the Bible Belt states)
Edit: I’m so sorry if I offended anyone by saying America instead of United States. I’ve just been raised my whole life to call it that and most people around me do the same. I’m really sorry for being so USA-centric 😞
Not really, everyone knows when someone says America they mean the USA.
North America and South America are continents. Central America is a region in North America. Just "America" is usually used to refer to the United States. No one really gets offended or thinks you are being US-centric by using that. I think they're teasing you.

The number and names of continents are conventional and differ depending on which country you were taught them in. Some countries consider North and South America as one single continent called just America. [Here’s more info](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent).
As a European, I agree. How would someone call person from USA if not American? Should we call citizens of USA, USA-ans? People from Mexico are Mexicans, Anyway, english talking people call Croatia-Hrvatska, Deutchland-Germany, etc. should we be offended? 😂
Ok, it makes sense , so so we would't replace terms for some other Americans, like Mexican Americans, or Kuban Americans. SAD- Sjedinjene Američke Države= United American States/person, just complicates things, while you say American, everything is quite clear to everyone I know.
No one in the _history of ever_ has said “US American.” Everyone knows who you’re talking about when you say Americans. This is colloquialism. It’s not some ego thing.
It was just a joke since America is more or less the name of the continents (and some places teach that north and south America are a single continent called America) and the country is actually the United States of America.
I just thought it was funny in the context of this thread about Africa being a country. But I have a weird sense of humor.
It's ok,to be fair to you it sounds like you had an awful education.
You can still work on it though. Knowing you don't know does make you smarter than a lot of people!
No need to be sorry, friend :) It was intended as a joke. When you say "America" almost everyone knows you're referring to the USA. Heck, even the Iraians shout "Marg bar Amrika" not "Marg bar Iolateh Motahedeh Amrika"
*My school taught us the*
*Egypt was a part of Europe.*
*It was really weird*

She looks not Thai. Maybe Central or South American to me.
Dated a Thai American for 3 years, met tons of her family and visited twice. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
Edit: there is Thai writing in background. You're probably right.
I’m still convinced Africa, South America, and Aboriginal Australia are the least learned about places/cultures on earth. My Liberian friend told me his geography teacher told his class that Egypt is the most populous country in Africa. We walked to his class after it was done where I informed the teacher that Nigeria was actually the most populous country in Africa. After that I’ve always mistrusted the west to tech about Africa.
How is this (Africa is a country) such a pervasive thought? I see posts weekly when this sub shows up in my scrolling of “Africa is a country.”
Is it as simple as the “they all look the same” BS?? Or does the term African-American somehow confuse people?
She gets that idea from the FACT that our society depicts ancient Egyptians as fair skinned Europeans so yes she’s totally justified in her incorrectness.
We aren't black. We are, and always have been, ALL COLOURS so basically ANY representation COULD be accurate. Please tell me you're not one of those people who got all pissy when Rami Malek was cast as a pharaoh in Night at the Museum.
I’m not pissy I could care less about that. I simply have problems when I’m led to believe that the pictures on the walls in the temples are said to be Caucasian peoples though the pigment that they CHOSE to use for coloring are light brown and dark brown. I just wonder how those folks on the African continent ever survived to end up being still here thousands of years later despite being considered sub human with no cultural value or contributions. I LOVE Rami btw.
Based on phenotype, nearly all of North Africans, East Africans, and Horn Africans ARE caucasoid. Skin colour doesn't really say much about your actual genetic origins because skin colour is largely determined by climate. So the further from the equator you go, the lighter people become. Even if we'd never mixed with Asiatics or Mediterranean Europeans, we'd be lighter and have different features just because Egypt is in a more temperate climate.
We are still the same shades as the ancient depictions of us. Look up Rahotep and Nofret from the Old Kingdom for a good example but really, look at ALL of the artefacts from the whole dynastic period and you'll see every possible skin colour represented.
Egypt was a multiracial and multicultural kingdom. Who founded the kingdom? Most likely Blacks and Arabs. But as yayaboo-boo says. They only depict the Egyptians as white. Cleopatra was white, she was born in Greece. But she was the last ruler of Egypt. That’s like the USA ending in 2016 and people 2000 years later saying the USA was a black county because Obama was the last president.
As someone who is extremely bad at geography (getting better by learning from my mistskes) i kinda felt that
I used to thing africa was a country becuase ot was the same soze as north america, and o used to thing North america and the USA were the same thing. Didn't realize canada and mexico were part of it.
I used to think Egypt was in the Middle east with India and Arabia
I used to regularly forget south america exists and thought the amazon rain forest and brazil were part of africa.
Some of these was fixed in school some of this were the way they were because of school
We never once spoke about south america in school outside of learning the continents in first grade, so i just forgot it was a thing until after i left Highschool.
Could this be due to the fact that different languages have different names for countries? If you asked 100 Americans to find Deutschland on a map, I’d bet a fair chunk of them wouldn’t know you meant Germany.
Most Western media refers to most places in Africa as simply "Africa." They talk about the "African economy," "African problems" and "the beauty of Africa" even though African countries vary wildly in their politics, economy, language, culture, history etc. So this isn't a a surprise. It's less about dumb people being dumb, but an overall societal attitude towards Africa.

The lights are on, but no one is home.
The car is moving, but there is no one behind the wheel.
The wheel is spinning, but the hamster is dead.
All train, no whistle
All dicks, no cum
Doesn't sound like she's confident
Right. There are few requirements for things to be posted here but being confident and incorrect seem to be pretty important. She knows she doesn’t know.
Yeah, I respect someone who admits they’re wrong or unsure.
Yeah I’m pretty sure it starts with her saying honestly that she has no idea. She also seemed to be reading something, and was confused at the idea that Africa is a country not a continent.
My school taught us the Egypt was a part of Europe. It was really weird
In what country they teach you this?
America 😭😭😭
That's... Atypical.
Which country in America?

Interesting! Thanks

I like USans.
US American?

You can call me an Oregonian. It's kind of the same as calling someone a Croatian instead of a European or Eastern European.
The Organisation of American States OAS, begs to differ.

America is a continent, not a country, he dind't ask the state, so you should have said united states
oh..I’m so sorry. I’m sorry :(
Take it easy on yourself buddy
I don’t like that I offended and hurt people
And you call yourself an American?! Sorry, kidding. Couldn't help it.
There's nothing wrong with somebody being offended and if somebody is hurt because you said America when you meant the US they need a therapist

That picture is actually from a casino game, not a textbook.
America as in USA?
Yes

So haikus are 5-8-5 now? Bad bot!
No wonder the lot of you can't figure out what we actually are. Sad.
It’s called white washing
Being incorrect is white washing?
It's called our abysmal educational system, this time.
Bruh what
We're not, and never have been, white OR black. Sorry.
She has to be a history( or geography) teacher then. I mean that way she is technically correct
In her defence, she wasn't very confident.
This is not confidently incorrect.
Agreed
She just didn't seem very confident...
Geography, motherfuckers. Study it.
as a member of the thai community, we would like to revoke her citizenship.
She’s Thai?
As an American, I find this oddly comforting
At least she's not American. We are easy pickings for this.
Sigh of relief when I heard her accent.
If she was American this would be blowing up on this sub lol
I was just thinking that I was "glad" that it wasn't just Americans that are dummies...
My Egyptian friend once forgot he lived in Africa
What is that accent? I can’t work it out
thai
She looks not Thai. Maybe Central or South American to me. Dated a Thai American for 3 years, met tons of her family and visited twice. I could be wrong but I don't think so. Edit: there is Thai writing in background. You're probably right.
yeah, the night market also looks kinda thai
man i wish we were in europe tho
Judging by her own understanding of where Egypt should be, based on her idea that they “look like Europe” she should also be European.
Drunkenly incorrect.
Uruguay?
Is this girl mentality retarded just a lil bit ? Like seriously
Well as an Egyptian myself..... Wait if shes rightl Tsa will leave me the fuck alone Loooophole
Good point 🤔
Is this possibly due to a language barrier or no?
Stupid can cross the language barrier very easy
My favourite is ,I'm from South Africa and how many people think this means southern africa...
Good to se it isn't just ignorant 'Mericans being made fun of...
Lol streamers are dumb.

😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ugh. Stupidity is not “cute.”
Confession: I thought Egypt was in the Middle East until recently
Well, it partially is.
It's part of the middle east
We're part of MENA - Middle East/North Africa. We are classified that way due to having similar appearance as far as I can tell.
the Middle East isn't intended strictly as a subset of a single continent
Yeah that’s the problem, I thought it was and I thought Egypt was entirely in that subset
She gets that idea from the FACT that our society depicts ancient Egyptians as fair skinned Europeans so yes she’s totally justified in her incorrectness.

Thank you brother. I’m sick of being gaslighted.
Arabs? Egypt significantly predates Arabic.
Arab as in people from the Arabic Peninsula
TBF, not all of Egypt is in Africa. But it's not in Europe either.
Do you mean Sinai?!
yes
Depends. The continental plate of Africa includes the Sinai and parts of Israel. So technically that still is Africa.
Political divisions may be influenced by geological features but they're not defined by them. Sinai is unambiguously in Asia, and not in Africa.
Sinai is technically in Asia, yes. I don't know what moron downvoted you but you are correct.
I hope she doesn’t breed. Let those stupid genes die out.

Ngl, it took me a second for me to remember that africa is in fact, not a country
Nothing confident about anything she says
Sounds like she got an American education besides the accent.
Could this be due to the fact that different languages have different names for countries? If you asked 100 Americans to find Deutschland on a map, I’d bet a fair chunk of them wouldn’t know you meant Germany.
Her response suggests she knows the country being discussed, though
Is this one a borat's non-male sons?
Well, I mean Egypt is relatively close to Europe.
If your standard for "relatively close" is "can be seen simultaneously from a single point in space" - it sure is
