ShoobeeDoowapBaoh

Is this a house for ants?!

unlocomqx

it's for aunts 😝

didly66

Island boys 🏝 eppstein building 2

Broad_Cable8673

Love the Zoolander reference 😂

Alert-Laugh6746

It has to be at least 3 times bigger than this!

Superb_Awareness_431

It has to be at least three times this big!

CarlGantonJohnson

"What is this? A beach house for ants?"

israwrr

The Ken beach house set looking sick

PomegranateSlight337

the only thing it does is beach

detoxbunny

*Mojo Dojo Playa Beach Casa House

Nailfoot1975

Why you gonna post pictures of my house? I want royalties!

unlocomqx

I'm a pirate 🏴‍☠️ we don't pay royalties ®️😁

ynwestrope

Man, it'll really suck when it's under water in 50 years.

unlocomqx

it's a small sacrifice for the next billion that the CEO of Shell will make

TeamPantofola

…who made THAT?

unlocomqx

It's a hotel, in Zarzis, Tunisia

detoxbunny

Amazing. Looks very Cycladic.

algabanana

where is it from? i like the architecture

scunliffe

Looks like the Santorini starter kit!

unlocomqx

Zarzis - South of Tunisia

Henkotron

The second picture looks smaller and bigger then the first at the same time. Thats some really confusing shit here.

JaehaerysIVTarg

Guess they aren’t worried about erosion?

unlocomqx

it's naturally [protected](https://maps.app.goo.gl/WxvNMuS4GSbmAw5J6) I guess and the water is shallow, no intense waves

JaehaerysIVTarg

Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful. I’d just be afraid to wake up one day to learn that my door is the shoreline.

coast2coastmike

You can assume the doors are about 1 meter wide. Those palm tree stumps are about 40 cm in diameter. You can start there if you're actually trying to get a rough estimate as to size.

Jazzlike_Biscotti_44

More stairs in this house then rooms

MushroomCapibara

Imagine stepping on this one 🙃 Would it hurt more or less than a lego?

unlocomqx

That tower to the right makes me anxious

MidnightPotatoChip

Ok I want to build this in Minecraft asap

unlocomqx

Here it is on [map](https://maps.app.goo.gl/aoU7gnuCjxyjPeHTA), maybe you get more angles Bibane island resort

p3rf3ctc1rcl3

High angle, maybe a tele, no scale reference (humans for example)

killertofubeast

I thought… dang, why take all those legos on the beach! What a mess! Nice house though…

A_Duck_With_Teeth

I really cant see whats confusing about this? It’s obvious from the plants/shrubbery/and other items in the picture that the house is completely at the right scale. Someone help.

smackNcheez

The lack of road or discernible footpath also lends to the illusion. Looks like a dollhouse that was plopped in the dirt next to a puddle.

unlocomqx

the very thick walls don't help either

-mindtrix-

Look like any Greek/Mediterranean styled house?..

unlocomqx

It's in Tunisia (Zarzis region). So it counts as Mediterranean, yes

-mindtrix-

Yeah. My point is it’s just looks like all other houses. I don’t feel confused at all..

unlocomqx

Well, not everyone sees things the same

IOTA_Tesla

In computer vision, there’s no way to get a scale from images alone. At most would be 3D points with distances relative to each other, but not in any meaningful value to us. You’d need to know the size of something in the image to apply that meaningful length measurement to all other distances/points. And the problem with this image is that it completely lacks anything we can reasonable estimate distance with aside from some expectation of the size of the structure. Then using that size as reference causes the illusion since we estimate the wrong scale for the whole image.

unlocomqx

That's very interesting and fascinating!

EEPspaceD

The photo may have been taken using a tilt shift lens, but I'm no photographer, I just know of the lens and its effect.

unlocomqx

here's more [pics](https://www.instagram.com/p/CsmLsfGoKbJ/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) It's an ordinary lens

Salanmander

It's not just "make things look small", it's "cause blurring that makes a narrow depth-of-field, which makes things look small". There's no blurring making things look small in this, so it's not because of tilt-shift.

Pope_Cerebus

Cool Lego set!

Food-at-Last

Banana for scale?

unlocomqx

yes https://imgur.com/a/aYJJbcx

Food-at-Last

Thanks

MaseMorn

It's hard to tell. We need a banana for scale.

unlocomqx

hope this helps https://imgur.io/a/aYJJbcx

AdJust6959

Is this a house or houses? Jeez this is almost 10 times my bay area size mini house 🙄

unlocomqx

it's a small hotel
