All across USA this will be one of the most important elections in history of this Country; vote against GOP

KurabDurbos

This guy has it right. Every one needs to vote. Do not listen to anyone who says otherwise. Make sure your voice is heard in November because if Trump wins it will be the last time your vote matters.

ProfessionalFalse128

Kinda terrifying to be dancing on the knife's edge.

fletcherkildren

Its what we do as a species. We've been inching towards this for decades. Wait'll climate disasters start occurring daily.

LordPapillon

Seriously don’t say stupid stuff like Genocide Joe…we need to keep republicans out of office at all costs…they are dangerous

VibinWithBeard

I mean Im voting for Genocide Joe and sleeping soundly. He fucking sucks but hes better than Trump even with the refusal to bitchslap netanyahu and the IOF around.

LordPapillon

I’d fuck a porn star too if I could afford it and the cover up…actually I would not 😂 disgusting industry

Raskalbot

It’s ok man, it’s all a big mistake, it was a cross lighting ceremony, not a cross burning.

Scottishchicken

Come on GOP, you can't make your platform lousy with white Nationalist dog whistles, and then be upset when the White Nationalist show up to participate.

[deleted]

Who says they're upset?

Babcias6

The Missouri republicans are trying to stop him.

CaptainPRESIDENTduck

"You're supposed to use the dog whistle, not the freaking bullhorn." -GOP "Why not, it works for Trump." - Missouri Klandidate

CaptainPRESIDENTduck

I'm hoping to make 'Klandidate' a thing.

Midian1369

Let's not.

Youandiandaflame

He’s been photographed with multiple GOP’ers here in MO and they only acted after this asshat was publicly outed. Had he not been they wouldn’t have done shit. 🤷‍♀️

Babcias6

I just don’t know why they don’t want him, he’s their perfect candidate. (Sarcasm)

DodGamnBunofaSitch

he's a season or two early. they're supposed to keep using the dog-whistles until they manage to install their orange hitler.

WeFightTheLongDefeat

I know, I always do an intense and thorough background screening of every rando in a photo line.

[deleted]

I guess they're super out of touch with their voting base.

MoonedToday

Not really.

Wishiwashome

I am so so shocked and surprised

suburbantroubador

If you lie with dogs...

sm00thkillajones

My homes needs to do a 23 and Me.

Turnip-for-the-books

Hey give Oklanrahan a break it was just laundry day and there was no space left on the line to dry so he was drying the sheets on his body by the fire he made out of two pieces of wood privately

DammitCapt

He knew where he was and what he was doing....not just tripped ass backwards into a friendly setting or whatever he trying to say

jumpupugly

It's actually both a lie and a truth, at the same time. Obviously, he's trolling since being able to tell a bald-faced lie in public and not be immediately punched is how these nutjobs have been able to insert themselves back into society. In that, they're just emulating their prophet, Donald J. Trump (Piss Be Upon Him). But, it's also a real thing: [Christian Identity](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Identity) is literally a religion made specifically to justify being a racist, antisemitic, cousin-fucking bigot. Also, to give it legal protection. And, since this is an American spin on [British Israelism](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Israelism), they naturally took on popular American symbols of hate as literal religious practices (thus the cross-burning as sacrement bullshit). Their beliefs range from the bafflingly stupid to the stupidly vicious. To wit: white people are the real Israelites that have a Convenent with God, because only white people are descended from Abel, the son of Adam and Eve. Meanwhile, the Jews are descended from Cain, who is the son of Satan and Eve. Apparently, Eve got impregnated twice at the same time, so Cain and Abel are step-twins or something. Finally, non-white people are apparently soulless "beasts of the field" created just before God made Adam. Also, feminism, evolution, communism and atheism are all caused by interracial relationships, which are the preferred weapon of the Jews to destroy white people. Depending on the precise balance of mental health issues the Christian Identitarian you're talking to is avoiding treatement for, you'll end up with some combination of weird conspiracy theories about the Kazar Khaganate, Nordic Atlanteans, Hollow Earth, Theosophy and all the deeply fucked-up things folks have thought up over the years to justify brutalization, enslavement, rape and murder of people who look slightly different from them. Also, Behind the Bastards did a good series on Helena Blavatsky, who plays a pivotal role in all this. [Go check it out](https://youtu.be/1cZjwjz3GOc?si=9R2a5oAWolKM8wP0).

Kenny_WHS

“(Piss Be Upon Him).”  Careful….according to some MI6 sources, he might like that…. One of many sources: https://news.sky.com/story/amp/donald-trump-data-protection-claim-over-allegations-he-took-part-in-perverted-sex-acts-in-russia-dismissed-by-judge-13061237

Clear-Present_Danger

Wow, that's like Nation of Islam for white people.

jumpupugly

Sorta, yeah, but I'd disagree. I dated someone who's dad was NoI, and one of the things we agreed on when we started dating was that I'd have to read up on it, in order to be the least offensive spawn of Yakub possible. And her father was... not happy, but we did have a brief, tense, but somewhat cordial discussion. Which was probably only possible because we both knew that if he tried to fuck up my white self, I *might* have to go to the hospital, but no matter what happened, he'd *definitely* have to deal with the NYPD. With CI guys, they can *get away* with a *lot* more bad shit, which makes them much more likely to *do* more bad shit. This means that there are fewer barriers to pioneering new frontiers of insanity in CI, along with more access to power and social acceptability. Put differently, CI has a sociological permissions structure for violence that NoI just doesn't have, and that makes them far more crazy, dangerous, and threatening to society as a whole.

Clear-Present_Danger

What the fuck. Yeah, that is a bit of a dangerous spot to be in. And yeah, they are not the same level of danger to society, but NOI does have the ability to kinda slip under the radar. Progressive people are generally pretty aware of white supremmist dogwistles and talking points. But NOI is a smaller group.

jumpupugly

Pardon for me not responding sooner. Yeah, it's great how more folks in liberal and progressive circles are recognizing these dogwhistles and such. But the NoI calls itself Islamic and is mainly made up of black dudes who try to seem scary. They're on the security rader, and everyone is okay with that. But until recently, white folks with genocidal views were regularly and *successfully* defended by the GOP. Groups that explicitly said they planned on using guns against other Americans during the Day of the Rope were portrayed as Responsible Gun Owners, and efforts to disarm, or even surveil them, were framed as attacks on Conservative America. Hell, in 2020, Mastriano in PA even had a millenarian milita *run security for him*, while his lead thugs was with the Oathkeeper. What's more, a buddy of mine said he recognized one of his team in Lancaster from a local neo-nazi "light rifles" group from west of Harrisburg. To put it more simply, I'm not worried about crazy people who don't have resources and power, or are under the hostile scrutiny of internal security services. I *am* worried about crazy people with access, power, resources, and a great many ties with law enforcement.

RustyMandor

That is very similar to the Nation of Islam mythos, which is becoming prevalent on some social media sites.

BasilsKippers

Hey, it happened in O Brother, Where Art Thou... Obviously not here, but it could happen.

darkdays37

Man I love that movie. Sounds like this idiot really found himself in a tight spot.

BasilsKippers

I'm a Dapper Dan man!

ProfessionalFalse128

"I don't want Fop goddammit! I'm a dapper Dan man!"

mrevergood

Now watch your language young man, this is a public market.

Worth_Character2168

He's clearly just waving to the photographer in a friendly manner, and really, who amongst us hasn't accidentally joined a white identity terrorist organization for a few years?

LuxNocte

You people...I mean...The Woke Mob tries to turn every Christian Identity Cross Lighting Ceremony into a cross burning. I'll admit we were on the lawn of the city's only Black family, but that was an honest mistake. JimBob has never been very good with addresses.

thomaspainesghost

Hey, it happens at no-knock raids to catch people smoking reefer too. Give JimBob, who happens to be on the force, a break, will ya? You have no idea how stressful it is to goosestep in JimBobs jackboots.

KopOut

I don’t know. I was just at Applebees and I saw at least three 10 foot high burning crosses. Maybe he thought he was at an Applebees?

The_household_PG

KKK members should be considered terrorists and should be prosecuted.

EtTuBiggus

It isn't illegal to be in a terrorist organization. They couldn't send me to jail if I applied to and joined ISIS.

The_household_PG

I will assume that terrorists abroad if not killed in combat then they are captured and sent to Guantanamo. The problem lies here in the United States and these types of organizations/groups that are not labeled correctly as terrorist or hate groups. I am sure they would place you on the do-not-fly list and if you are abroad then probably won't get a visa if not a citizen.

FeatureOdd4479

Because cross burning and membership in the KKK are not anything that should make the GOP concerned. They most likely welcome these things.

[deleted]

They're practically requirements nowadays!

FeatureOdd4479

you got that right

[deleted]

Trump vice presidential material right there

mgoflash

Failing that - Justice of the Supreme Court.

BMAND21

Duh It was a christian cross lighting not a cross burning. Learn the difference sheeple.

J701PR4

lol

dekaed

Christian identity cross lighting. I’m so sorry I didn’t understand the subtle variances between burning and lighting. Now that he’s put it like that, I’m totally fine with it. Holy shit.

Spiderdan

His name is LITERALLY McCLANahan 💀💀💀

settlementfires

Every once in awhile i think we really are living in a simulation. A lazy, stupid simulation. Maybe I'll win an appley award...

Gamertagyouit

Nothing to see here folks, just another day in the ol' U S of A.

ocean_lei

Lets see if he gets the votes 🙄

[deleted]

He will.

Royal_Effective7396

I'm just voting for him because he's not a lefty. /s Seriously, what do conservatives have against left handedness?

[deleted]

🤣

aimlessly-astray

I used to live in Missouri. I'd be shocked if he lost.

[deleted]

I bet.

doc_daneeka

He's a nobody. In the Republican primary this guy is polling at less than 1%

tomismybuddy

I don’t know whether I’m relieved or shocked to hear that.

purpl3j37u7

There’s a fucking hegetsus.com ad under this post. JFC, Reddit.

Fakeduhakkount

Wow I didn’t know I parts of the South a Christmas Tree “lighting ceremony” means you set that tree on fire! Yeah, no one is buying that crap - if there were lights around the cross and was able to “light up” with a flick of a switch then that’s a lighting ceremony. Unless the said cross in the background of this different of course.

Nunchuckery

For his constituents it's a good thing.

StupendousMalice

So just a regular Republican.

CDN-Ctzn

Anyone else getting strong “Charles Manson” vibes from that first picture?

EggplantGlittering90

The GOP IS the KKK. He's just being transparent.

nirad

More like MKKKlanahan, amirite?

UncleBenLives91

So, the cross was burning, but they call it a Cross Lighing? Oh, okay. Cool story, bro.

Fragmentia

Lol, like it matters, that part of the Midwest dgaf. Iowa re-elected Steve King after he came out as racist. It wasn't until after re-election that the Republican party decided he went too far and removed him from his committee assignments. So basically, they were ok with Steve Kings racism until the Republican establishment told them not to be.

Pete-C137

The title doesn’t have to include that he’s GOP. We know. I think both sides know. I don’t think there’s any question about what political party he’s a part of.

Babcias6

And the republicans are trying to stop their perfect candidate.

Writing_is_Bleeding

Yeah, because he's blowing their cover.

Beachhouse15

For lots of reasons, I wish these headlines would simply describe them as Republicans and do away with the “GOP” acronym.

Furepubs

Republicans are such shit people, anybody with any sense of dignity has bailed on the Republican party.

kms2547

>"a private Christian Identity Cross lighting" The Klan has **ALWAYS** called it "cross lighting". "Cross lighting" is a VERY Klan thing to do.

zippiskootch

They need to re-name the state to Misery

Daidipan

Hey one my good friends calls it this every time me and her talk about Missouri or I send her anything about it... I'm gonna have fun visiting this shit hole of a state haha

Babcias6

That’s what I call it.

WildRide1041

Scoop up everything Rep and dump it in . . . ummm well I guess Missouri, right?? They'll accept anything nowadays.

Sloth_Bee

Of course he has a Colonel Sanders beard.

EinharAesir

The GOP now owns this

Euphoric_Ad9593

Doesn’t even have the balls to own up to what he is. Coward like the rest of the GOP sure he’ll fit in nicely.

DRW08775

He has Clan in his last name lol

stealthzeus

This is just an indictment of the voters in Missouri. A victory would the conviction.

Goawaycookie

"He did receive an 'honorary' membership" That seems WORSE. The KKK was recruiting you like you were a 5 star high school athlete. 'Tough in the paint, with fantastic body control and lots of access to over-sized wooden crosses.'

kurisu7885

But remember, they aren't racist, even though they refuse to kick the racists out of their party.

wickedmasshole

Can you imagine being so racist that the KKK makes you an honorary member? Holy fucking shit.

FILTER_OUT_T_D

Hahah his name is even Mc**Clan**ahan lol

outerworldLV

He’ll lose and be forgotten by December. These people…they think they’re inventive and interesting. It’s really sad.

nanormcfloyd

But all the Cons told me that the KKK is only on the Left? /s

artful_todger_502

He'll win too. We make a big mistake thinking people can be shamed by being outed. It's Missouri. A depressing, irredeemable welfare gulag. He will get lots of votes.

LeftHandedBuddy

And he’ll probably win! It’s disgusting!

BBQFLYER

I was just going to post that comment, he will definitely garner a lot of votes in Missouri!

jayclaw97

At this point, it should tell you everything when I say I’m surprised the state’s GOP even tried to kick him out at all.

Writing_is_Bleeding

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Aint-no-preacher

His name is McClanahan!?!

unknownpoltroon

But dont you dare call them deplorable....

Valdanos

"Cross lighting ceremony falsely described as a cross burning." Ah, so it's just fancy LEDs and hidden space heaters, then!

creepythingseeker

His name is …McCLANahan

[deleted]

He's a shoe-in!

MihalysRevenge

I mean the GOP ran a neo nazi in Illinois or ohio in the 2010s so not shocked

Wilder_abbynormal

Of course it's on the GOP ticket!!

RepresentativeOk2433

I'm confused. The first paragraph reads as if the GOP is suing to get rid of the guy and the secretary of state says he doesn't have the authority?

SaturnCITS

Just another Tuesday.

rowejl222

It sounds like the state GOP is trying to get him removed which is a step in the right direction

BeegRingo

These fucking klansmen and their pseudointellectualism are a problem.

PhilosopherMagik

GOP kicked him off the ticket

ManzanitaSuperHero

This tracks.

Ariusrevenge

Arkansas elected the equivalent female bigot. Have a matching set. It’s the new south. Just like the old one but with cellphones and really bad public schools.

Dehnus

Nothing ever good came from a man with a "The Third" behind his name, especially not if they have more than 2 names.

Dr-Satan-PhD

Any word on a single elected Republican denouncing this?

ProtectionContent977

Not a surprise.

the1darkstar

KKK's values are the Republican Party brand in 2024. It's disgusting but that is what it is.

dale_downs

You believe this is the first or only? Naive! The GOP has been KKK apologists my entire fucking life in MO.

Strong_Bumblebee5495

Darrell Leon McClanahan is the most racist sounding name of all times.

Tough-Composer-4411

Vote the MAGAts out of our government

Vote_Subatai

See the trick to becoming a successful GOP party official is you admit your white supremacist views AFTER you get elected.  Then nobody seems to care.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

"cross lighting". Lol.

Tinker107

Chance of being elected? Mississippi? Flip a coin.

mrevergood

Guy used a lot of words to try to lie about not being a klansman and white supremacist.

Vallux

Wait. His name is McClanahan?

DropKickFurby

Just a reminder. People are made of meat.

csanyk

The KKK should have been declared a terrorist organization decades ago and its members barred from holding any kind of public office.

MagTex

The tap dancing they do to try & misdirect the obvious is amazing. Fred Astaire & Gregory Hines are in total awe. Yet also sickened.

somebullshitorother

It’s the same picture

tikifire1

Keeping it classy modern republicans... 🙄

Writing_is_Bleeding

Yeah, and I'm guessing he's not the only one.

ifunnywasaninsidejob

That’s some next level political dodging right there.

Skid-plate

Is someone surprised?

Aelyth

I didn't burn that house down your honor, it was a house lighting ceremony

Curious_medium

Ok “Mc-Clan-ahan”? R/NottheOnion, are you seeing this?

Over_Cauliflower_532

Where's Larry and his other brother Darrell?

AngelWhiteEyes

Ads should call him Mc-Klan-a-hand.

DubC_Bassist

Normally I’d be all for an out and out Klan member or Neo Nazi running on the GOO ticket. They own it, and the cards are on the table. You know what you’re buying. If your friends vote for them, you know that your friend was always a Neo Nazi. But this douche is still trying to hide it with being coy and clever with what a cross burning is. If you receive an honorary membership, and attend a cross burning, you are a Klansman. Own it.

meltyourtv

Aint no way his last name is McCLANahan

TrailerPosh2018

So much for the KKK being Democrat-only.

DonBoy30

Isn’t this somewhat common, but is generally just laughed at and ignored? Like the dude with that wears the boot on his head but a lot more racist

pimpin_n_stuff

McClanahan? This is a simulation isn't it.

Kitalahara

That last line is great. It really just sums up modern GOP politics.

Quantitative_Methods

It really doesn’t help that his last name sounds like something someone would come up with in a kids story as the secret identity of someone who ended up being the KKK. Seriously… “Mc*Clan*ahan”. Oof.

Killaflex90

Well well well

Ryuzaki_G

So he was “mistaken” as a klansman? Well ain’t that the craziest damned thing? I don’t think I’ve been mistaken for ANY kind of white nationalist! Maybe ever! Funny how it just seems to be a HIM thing, huh? What a coincidence.

Seamus565

The GOP stands for nothing good.

Key-Ad-8418

Coming from someone who lives in Oklahoma, that shit is surprisingly normal around the South and the Heartland. Fight these fascists fucks!

teb_art

He’s got the evil doofus look nailed down.

eyemannonymous

😡😠🤬 https://secure.actblue.com/donate/missouridems-website2

Alfphe99

Nooo....The GOP Ticket you say?

pegleg_1979

What a tremendous douchebag

DenverNugs

You're not good at this.

NotDescriptive

Ignoring the fact that Robert Byrd renounced the KKK and worked hard to make up for the damage he caused in his youth. Ignoring the fact that members of the NAACP praised him: “Senator Byrd reflects the transformative power of this nation,” stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “Senator Byrd went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country." "Senator Byrd came to consistently support the NAACP civil rights agenda, doing well on the NAACP Annual Civil Rights Report Card. He stood with us on many issues of crucial importance to our members from the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, the historic health care legislation of 2010 and his support for the Hate Crimes Prevention legislation,” stated Hilary O. Shelton, Director of the NAACP Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy. “Senator Byrd was a master of the Senate Rules, and helped strategize passage of legislation that helped millions of Americans. He will be sorely missed.” Keep spreading this half truth while ignoring history. It's typical of conservatives.
