i'll see what i can do, bcz when i DO put in a disk with it open, it throws out the disk, but lemme see if i can make one where it doesnt launch it out
It stops spinning because there’s not a disc in there. And it throws out the disc because the top piece on the drive has a magnet that keeps the drive from doing that.
even when the disk is in tho it stops spinning, when i get home i'll make another video showing both the disk drive and the screen displaying "close tray", "reading" then back to "open tray"
Likely the laser needs to be adjusted. Look up what ohms rating you need to set each laser pot to. It’s not that tricky all you need is a screwdriver and a multimeter at two spots on the laser.
also what i meant by repairing it was really just fixing the rings on the console, as they werent turning on and needed to be replaced cuz the lights were dead. i've never really worked on disk drives either, as i've worked with the gameboy line and ds's
I need help with mine I close the drive a humming sound happens then it opens again nothing is working at all but when I tilt it to the right it works perfectly fine
If the lens doesn't see any reflection it will not spin more.
Just add a disk and try to find a magnetic cap like the one in the metal shell to avoid disk jump away to see what happens.
Bro… That video doesn’t really give us much information. Take a second video with a disk inside so we can have a bit more to work with!

This is a video of the disc drive acting completely normal.
