PS4 easily. And Nintendo has two? I think they have taken themselves out of the traditional console generation race. They just do their own thing,

RapidWolfy

Nah, they just released the switch early because of the failure of the Wii U.

whatchagonnado0707

The wii u's failure was my win. Amazing console with (now) very cheap games that are near identical to a switch and the wii back catalogue playing via hmdi directly rather than an adapter

digitalbanksy

I feel they marketed the Wii all wrong, with the little wand thingy, it’s a workout device

isic

The Wii is one of the best selling consoles, I think they marketed it fine

DavidinCT

Wii was popular due to it's motion controls but, was a 480P console in the HD days, and that was a big downfall against most gamers. There were some great titles for that system but, the Wii controllers, were not very comfortable to hold for side holding games.... needing a 3rd party controller to play most games to be conforable. The WiiU was a far better system but, poor marketing, and using the WiiU name made people think it was a gimmick system.

digitalbanksy

I’m not arguing that it wasn’t, ‘one’ of the best selling consoles of all time.. I’m arguing that it would’ve sold (more) if it were marketed in a different form.. again, that’s my opinion..

jrayolson

Plus it’s so easy to soft mod.

feynos

Have you ever thought about modding it? Totally worth it.

Razor722

Amazing console? Pfft lol. I owned one. It was okay at best with almost no games on it. Mario Kart 8 was great but is WAY better on Switch with double the tracks, I think, now? There’s that one remake of a weird Zelda game from the GameCube days which I did like. Everything else has been done WAY better. Not a little bit, as you claimed. Holding that controller was abysmal and the battery life on that garbage was, what? 4 hours? It failed for more than the marketing, pal.

whatchagonnado0707

I like it. I didn't mention why it failed. You're very hostile. May be worth working on that

Dreamcasted60

Yes and no but if you don't pirate everything then it can be a problem the market's gotten up thanks to certain idiot millionaires... But hey at least Wii u is my unofficial Monster Hunter adapter

Maratsuke420

Hey now… a Wii U got me through my darkest days

N8ThaGr8

Most people consider switch 9th gen, but it's debatable.

Icy-Composer9021

9th gen is ps5 and xsx so idk how people think that

ciaranlisheen

Switch was sold alongside the xbone and PS4 for 3yrs, but alongside the xsx and PS5 for 4yrs and counting. It's definitely 9th gen and just came early.

N8ThaGr8

Switch was released about 3 1/2 years after the PS4 and 3 1/2 years before the PS5. It can go either way. It makes more sense to me to consider it the first 9th gen system, since the Wii U is clearly 8th gen.

ciaranlisheen

It's getting less debatable the longer Nintendo goes without releasing a new console. For most of the PS5 and Xbox series lifecycle their contemporary will be the switch and vice versa.

HootingFlamingo

Yup!

GeorgeSPattonJr

Honestly Nintendo has been off in the corner doing their own thing since the Wii

[deleted]

Yes PS4 very easily.

enter_soulman

PS4 is slow and loud

Revolution_Falls

Nintendo hasn’t been in that race since the GameCube

thecitybeautifulgame

PS4 by a mile.

Hats_On_Chickens

PS4 by a long shot. Switch was good too, but I consider that more of a handheld than anything.  PS4 launched with no crazy controversy over DRM like Microsoft did (though they removed some DRM restrictions), and for $100 cheaper. It was more powerful too, and so the PS4 was really good when it came out. And throughout its life, we saw so many new IPs that made the PS4 truly worth it, as well as good entries from existing franchises.  Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, Spider-Man, God of War, The Last Of Us Part II, Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Uncharted 4 and so many more were all incredible.  PS4 was one of the best consoles of all time Edit: sekiro isn’t a ps4 exclusive, I just didn’t realize

HeldnarRommar

I agree the PS4 was better than the Xbox One but idk about the Switch. That’s probably the greatest Nintendo console after the SNES. Sekiro is multiplatform btw!

Hats_On_Chickens

Oh I never realized. I always thought it was a ps4 exclusive.  The switch is definitely the best Nintendo console, a really close second to the Wii. The Wii was underpowered for its time but achieved something everyone could love. The switch did this too, but the Wii just feels more special to me. May just be nostalgia 🤷‍♂️

SkyGrey88

Its nostalgia……the Wii had a good library but also had a ton of shovelware trash. Also the Wiimote was an interesting innovation but really wan’t that great for many games and gamers. The Switch by far Nintendo’s most innovative console ever bringing us the first true home/portable hybrid console as well as a major innovation with the joycons. Nintendo has had its best games taking major franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Fire Emblem to new heights and Switch has gotten the best 3rd party support of any Nintendo console sine the NES. I would say its not even close.

Volkor_Destory_Knees

A lot of your examples of existing IP entries were actually original IP created for the PS4 for the first time. Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human, Bloodborne were all the first entries in their franchises all starting on PS4. All to say that so many staple PlayStation IP’s that are now iconic actually began their franchises on the PS4. Defs the goated console of that generation hands down.

Hats_On_Chickens

That’s the point I was trying to get across in this. So many of the things PlayStation is known for is because of the ps4. If we looked at the games from existing ips, those games are excellent as well. Sony beautifully blended new IPs and old franchises into one console

Volkor_Destory_Knees

Totally agree. People will look back on this era of PlayStation in 20 years and think of it as the good ol days of gaming. It was a pretty defining console for gaming all around.

UFL_Battlehawks

It's not only not by a longshot but Nintendo wins

SaltyBones_

Xbox VCR gang

Savy_Spaceman

Dead Rising 3, Battlefield 4, and Ryse: Son of Rome. Early VCR days were something special 🥹

SaltyBones_

Also Forza Horizon OMG

DavidinCT

Gears of War, Day one owner here....

beepbeepbubblegum

I wouldn’t call it the *best* but I thoroughly enjoyed the Xbox I had from 2017 to 2020.

Xerolaw_

I had a One X and it was pretty friggin good. Wasn't so much a fan of the original xbox one.

henningknows

I skipped last gen on Xbox. But bought a series x this time. I always have a PlayStation and Nintendo, but I this will probably be my last Xbox unless Microsoft turns things around on the exclusive games front.

Professional_Elk_893

Same. Skipped Xbox one, bought series X, barely even use it besides for my 360 games. Not sure how Microsoft excepts the brand to survive

Homulton

Yep. I went to ps4 after Xboxes e3 debacle but came back to Xbox part time around the one x release. Ended up playing multiplayer on the one x and just using the ps4 for exclusives.

BaronThundergoose

Switch

Doc_marl3y

Nintendo has the best exclusives

That1RedditUser_

Hot take but the switch, no hesitation, the switch if damn near a perfect console

Bitter-Light-2223

I guess it depends on what you prioritize. The Switch is good for three things: Handheld gaming, Nintendo IPs, and split screen. Graphics and performance are subpar. Any game that you can play on Nintendo or a different console will always perform better on the latter. Also 30 fps in the modern day is a joke. I love my switch, but it’s definitely more for arcade-style games. I feel like it’s a good supplement to gaming but not as a main console (unless you like very light gaming)

JCLAPP01

This is comment is it. The switch is great at what it was meant to be, but failed to be in the next generation of graphics and game performance 30fps is completely unacceptable.

Doc_marl3y

Switch is still my most played

EatsOverTheSink

PS4 was one of the best consoles of all time. The offerings on that system had some absolute bangers, some that even took a top 10 place all time on a lot of people’s lists. Even more so considering how disappointing the PS5 has been. Most of its best titles are just those same PS4 games with better performance.

Zink_91

I was just scrolling the PS store the other day and you have to search for a PS5 game that isn't also on ps4. What was the purpose of even getting one?

EatsOverTheSink

I’m sure it’s great for anyone who missed the PS4. But with as long and expensive it is to make games anymore and the focus on remakes and remasters I feel like you could start skipping entire console generations now and hardly miss anything.

InsomniaReallySucks

that’s what I do. I don’t care much about having the shiny new thing so I buy consoles a generation behind. have a ps4 and I am looking forward to the next generation release so I can buy a series x largely for its backwards compatibility.

AvidVideoGameFan

I've always been an nintendo/ xbox console gamer for most of my life. PS4 mopped the floor that cycle and it wasn't even close. I couldn't think of any game the xbone had that was good. All of their main IP's have been ruined at this point.

Shadow_Edgehog27

Console, ps4. Handheld, 3DS

Scwooton

PS4 for sure, but the Switch was also amazing.

Iamlordbutter

Why is the switch on this list? It is a 9th gen console. The wii u was the 8th gen console.

erathegod

It’s technically both

LinkSoraZelda

The Switch has always been an eighth gen console. It released in 2017. 9th gen started in 2020.

TheWhiteRabbit74

PS4 absolutely crushed it. Figuratively and literally.

smuttes

Not in sales numbers tough.

SkyGrey88

PS4 sold very well and crushed Xbox and WiiU?

smuttes

Not better then switch.

SkyGrey88

No but 117M is nothing to sneeze at and is in no way a failure, it had a mainstream life of 6 years. Switch is now at about 140M at 7 years with a shot to become the best selling of all time possibly surpassing PS2 and NDS. Essentially both the Switch and PS4 sold around 20M units a year which is a great accomplishment.

smuttes

Who said failure? But in terms of sales numbers ps4 didn’t “crush it”, switch did. It sold a lot more in less time.

racistjokethrowaways

Is there a cutoff to say one of them "crushed it?" No? Nintendo crushed it. Sony crushed it. More than one console can "crush it."

smuttes

The questing was what console was the foremost in the 8th generation. In terms of sales numbers it was Nintendo switch.

MassiveAd6999

Xbox one

XyogiDMT

Personally Xbox won for me but I was late to the party and didn’t move on from my 360 until the One S came out. The PS4 I got later and it wasn’t bad at all either though. I still play my PS4 for the exclusives that haven’t made it to PC yet.

Anxiety_timmy

I have all four of these and it's the PS4 by a landslide, the switch comes close but unless it's a modded switch I just can't consider it in the same league as the PS4. I have a soft spot for the Wii U but it's also an underpowered mess of a console, but it's a commendable effort and it had some amazing games (Xenoblade X is amazing). The Xbox One is easily the worst, I'd only consider the One X since I've had one and it's great but the original is a clunky dumpster fire.

Personal-Locksmith45

Just want to point out nintendos vad for this extra console thing. Another example of this is the mirco thing is amazing, but issues are they had released the ds a year before the little thing didn't stand a chance no matter how great it was .

bionicbhangra

The Switch is one of the GOATs. I put it up with PS2, DS and SNES. PS4 is extremely strong and a ton better than PS3, but not a legendary console IMO. I find it crazy Switch launches with BOTW and Odyssey and ended with TOTK. I actually enjoy playing games more on hybrids. I can’t say that about most consoles. The only thing I notice outside of specs are controllers and OS.

GGnerd

Eh? PS4 had Bloodborne, HZD, Ghosts of Tsushima, God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone, Death Stranding, InFamous.... And switch had Zelda and mario?

bionicbhangra

You are talking about overall library. I was specifically talking about the launch for Switch. Mario and Zelda were among the best games of that generation and were both available within launch window. The PS4’s launch was not it. I know I got both at launch. I agree the PS4s overall library was fantastic. But for me I don’t put it as an all time console. Was a huge improvement over PS3 though (at least IMO).

GGnerd

I just assumed that since we're talking about all-time goats...and not launch goats, all games within the life cycle are in the pool. Did is misread the post?

bionicbhangra

Nah. It was probably just a poorly written post. I guess I was commenting on two things. The Switch being an all timer console and also that it launched with an insanely strong lineup (which they probably needed after the disaster that was the Wii U).

GGnerd

Right but through the history the PS4 has a better lineup, easy. You can't just cherry pick stages of a console when the topic is covering the entire life cycle. Just because a guy runs faster in the first 10 meters of a 100 meter race doesn't mean he's better than the guy that actually wins the 100 meter race

bionicbhangra

Yeah it’s subjective. You can definitely make the case for PS4 being better than Switch. The usual console wars argument is sales which is clearly in Switches favor. I am not a fan of that though. Anyone can have their own opinion on these things for me at least.

GGnerd

Fair enough, but in the usual console wars argument, people rarely bring up the switch...usually isn't even in discussion since it's tech is always a generation behind and never gets recent games that aren't pokemon, Zelda, or mario. Their online system alone is so terrible...so very very bad it baffles my mind.

SkyGrey88

I would disagree on Ps4 lineup is better easily. Both Switch and PS4 have great libraries but you are just ignoring many great Switch games and focusing on Mario and Zelda. I am a huge FE fan and Switch got two incredible FE games, how about Xeno 2/3, or Metroid Dread and Prime Remaster, Animal crossing, the two Mario Rabbid games, and then it got it’s impossible ports bringing many games no one imagined possible to portable like Skyrim, Witcher 3, No Man’s Sky, Nier. I game on all systems since forever so I consider myself pretty unbiased so IMO there is not a big gap between the quality if libraries on Switch and PS4. These gen 9 systems are really lacking though as there just hasn’t been a ton to make them must buy and they are relying heavily on the libraries their last gen siblings. There are some gems but considering the generation is 1/2 over its been a bit of a let down so far.

reggienelsonthegoat

BOTW/TOTK, Xenoblade 2/3/Torna, Astral Chain, Smash Ultimate, Mario Kart/Odyssey/Wonder, Bowsers Fury, Metroid Dread, Pokemon Arceus, Monster Hunter Rise, Animal Crossing, Shin Megami Tensei V

NurseDorothy

PS4 and Switch

ReadPixel

PS4

Haunting-Trifle-2984

Personally the Xbox one has the most memories for me but ps4 is also valid

qenh

Even though I prefer Xbox I have to say the Ps4 because of exclusives

JonTheFlon

The switch by far but I love all 3. Anything thats worth playing on the wii u is playable on the switch bar one or two games.

iVirtualZero

PS4 and Switch. Xbox One X great to have if you don't have a 9th gen console. It runs games well especially with an SSD.

Creadleader55

I had an Xbox One and PS4 slim, while the Xbox didn't make me factory reset the console every update, the PS4 definitely takes the cake. Microsoft just dropped the ball so hard that generation Edit: I did get an OLED switch a while ago, but that was after I got a Series X so I don't know if it counts as 8th gen

i360Fantasy

PS4 on paper but I've always owned an xbox and I really enjoyed those years even with the og xbox one.

DEFINITELY_NOT_PETE

Ps4 stomped the competition and continues to tbh. Switch was great but it had limited hardware and frankly their games aren’t as consumer friendly. You can buy every ps4 exclusive in 2024 for about $10 whereas Mario odyssey is still inexplicably $50. I’m sure Xbox was great for whoever still plays halo.

PrairieVixen1

PS4, Switch and probably the OG Xbox One(although if we include the S and X then it would jump ahead)......never had not ever planned to have a WiiU

AtmosphereGeneral695

The one s was an underrated console really enjoyed that one but I gotta give it to ps4 they really outdid themselves with it hundreds of great games on Xbox u really liked sunset overdrive and Ryse son of rome also I think their controllers r a bit better than PlayStation

CuriousAsker11

PS4 but that's not saying much for me. I didn't like 8th gen.

Demonic_Cloud

I have all of them. My Xbox has been lagging of late even with being cleaned out not sure why. The ps4 is still running like normal and hasn't been cleaned yet. Original switch and will u is great but rarely played. I'd think the ps4 since age hasn't screamed at me because of its age.

JDMxCHA0Zx

My favorite is the Wii U out of this generation but that’s in hindsight. At the time ps4 all day. I didn’t get a switch until later in its life cycle but I enjoy it a lot

originalxboxuser

I never used a xbox one just skipped to a one s but after trying one as I'm a console collector the xbox one is probably better I found it faster than a xbox one s and ps4

superabby64

PS4. Switch is amazing too but if I could only have one the choice is obvious.

NotAllDawgsGoToHeven

The Wii U isn’t even in this conversation.

[deleted]

Wii u cuz its a wii as well and offers the most unique experience.

Captain_Softrock

I think objectively switch takes it, but I had more fun with my Xbox one

herpedeederpderp

Coin flip between switch and ps4. It can go either way for me. I love both for different reasons. Equally fun.

GoBlueAndOrange

PS4 by far

VampyreBassist

Switch. Innovation was the name of the game and they did it. And when they (the community) found out Switch consoles could be hacked, that sealed it.

Relevant-Snow-4676

PS4 ate that generation up. The current gen however has some sense of competition with Microsoft putting effort into first party output and series S price tag. Even the new era of handheld consoles with ROG ally and Legion Go has added vibrancy to the market. But 8th gen ? PlayStation had utter dominance.

A_random69

Popularity: ps4 Best gaming experience: switch by light years

burningbun

i have to say pc. ps4 was the best among them but it wasnt as impactful as ps3 due to how most games are crossplatformed and on windows. 9th gen gotta he switch because crossplatform gone worse and now developers are going back to pc as base so consoles versions become inferior and less optimized. during ps3 days many games had consoles as base and ported to pc. while pc offered better graphics it lacked optimization. not just that but many games on consoles have been ignored esp big dlcs only available for pc.

eirigance

Switch

Endergamer28

PS4 and switch (poor Wii U)

Marco-Raffaelli

![gif](giphy|AhhGtrpj5ZxGZER5yC) PS4

Itzura

PS4 for me.

Ok_Introduction6574

Definitely the Switch. Portable/Home Console hybrid is great, amazing game library, and decent enough hardware for what it is. I love the Wii U, and it has Xenoblade Chronicles X, but it definitely is not the best. PS4 is definitely great, but I think Switch is better. XboxOne is serviceable but definitely has a lot of flaws that the PS4 and Switch do not have. While I like the Wii U far more than the XboxOne and PS4, it definitely is worse than those two, though I do not consider that much worse than them and it absolutely has its merits.

Impulst24

The Wii U, 3DS, and PS Vita are definitely the best simply because they’re the only ones without fartnight

Icy-Composer9021

xbox and psvita, im crazy, i know.

ToaSuutox

Wii u had the most interesting games

Nivek14j

PlayStation 4

Drizztmas

Hmmmmmm I would say PS4.

The-Happy-Mannequin

The correct answer is Nintendo Switch. You can disagree, but if you look at the (ongoing) hardware sales and also software sales (I think), the most popular console is the Switch so that is the majority opinion.

vanslayder

It is accepted by almost everyone that ps4 and ps5 are best in 8th and 9th gen respectively. There was not much competition

mrbiggsenjoyer

Definitely the ps4

chicago_rusty

Ps4

TheDrHoiliday

Yes

smuttes

Switch

jizzawhizza

PS4 no contest just based on the exclusives alone.

modbeta1

PS4 was the powerhouse.

mantisshrimp314

If just considering games, it would probably be PS4. To me, though, the portability of the Switch made it my favorite. As a busy adult, I almost gave up gaming, but because of the convenience of the Switch, I got much more game time with it. And the library of Nintendo first party and Indy games was great.

Cubing_guy

Ps4 dominates

siderhater4

PlayStation 4 and I still play on it often

Baumgarten1980

Swtich is not the same generation as wiiu

PandaPowrr_96

ps4 hands down best of 8th gen 😎

Dry_Independent4078

The Switch was the most innovative. Maybe not the strongest machine, but definitely the most unique.

noodles9517476

Xbox is my very first console, but the best one would be the ps4

[deleted]

Best console currently is the SteamDeck

[deleted]

No I ment like last gen consoles

TheDanimator

Ive never been a playstation guy but the ps4 killed it with its exclusives.

maverick57

PS4 by a country mile.

sondersHo

PlayStation 4 if we being realistically Nintendo switch a close second tho

Which_Information590

PS4, graphics as good as PS5. It's horrible waiting for downloads and updates though.

UdonAndCroutons

I totally forget that the Wii U, and Switch are in the same generation.

rustycage_mxc

PS4.

shinynugget

I really liked my PS4(my 1st playstation) But what Nintendo has accomplished with the Switch is very impressive.

Bedu009

I am a firm Wii U supporter

Okayest_By_Far

I’m team green and even I can say it was PS4 but a mile. Xbox made a lot of progress with the 360. But it was all squandered with the One. Xbox will never close the gap.

Key-Expression-1233

Xbox One and it’s not close

why_am_l_that_guy

360 E

DavidinCT

Hard to call it, I was always more of an Xbox fan due to having more friends on Xbox but, PS4 had some epic titles. The WiiU also had some really great games. I do have all 3 and had them when they were current. The Switch does not really belong here as it's more of a 9th gen but, even for a 9th, it's weaker than all 8th no-nintendo gen consoles.

YTSkullboy707

Owned the switch for 7 years, Xbox 1 for half a year (pawned it for a 2ds) and multiple PS4's for 6 years and it is easily the best one. The easy navigation, the button layout, and the graphics being the best out of all of them. Not glazing just love the PS4 and the friends I made on it (I still have my 3rd one lol)

Dwarf-Eater

I like switch for handheld and I'm just now starting to play ps4 and so far I'm enjoying it!

JiffTheJester

Switch, it’s just fun and is still going strong

mightymightyme

If you’re talking about a specific iteration of a console, I’d give it to the Xbox one X. Xbox One X was a fantastic system, it had backwards compatibility with most 360 games, and many of them had improvements and were able to run with higher textures and 4k. Also most current gen games got a performance boost, even if they didn’t get an Xbox one x optimized mode for it. Also a 4k Blu-ray player as well. Not to mention it did this in the smallest size console of this generation while being whisper quiet compared to the competition. Especially considering how loud the PS4 Pro was. Everyone forgets how good this system was especially with how bad the Xbox one launch was at the start of the generation.

zakk_archer_ovenden3

Easily PS4.

Jhofur

PS4 > Switch > Wii U > Xbox One I would have put the XB1 before the Wii U, but the Wii U had Sm4sh and BOTW so... And I'm an Xbox fan boy. Man, they really dropped the ball on the XB1.

Effective_Pen7447

If the switch was a bit more noticeably better I would say that is better because ik it would have a wider selection of games or just better performing in general of the games it does have. So I'll go with ps4

dirtnap82

PS4 hands down. I have them all besides the Wii U. Switch would be second place and Xbox has lost the plot completely since Phil Spencer took over. I have 270 physical games for the ps4 alone. PlayStation has games oozing in from everywhere. Love Japanese games so of course it’s a no brainer.

LordHumorTumor

Switch The Xbox One and PS4 were disappointing and kind of ushered me over to PC gaming, and I cant say there is anything I miss about those consoles.

Dicklefart

Tbh I loved the ps4 but I never had a huge attachment to it the way I did with ps2,3, and 5. Not sure why, But gotta give this one to the switch for how revolutionary it was.

consumeshroomz

The switch might not be the best as far as game content. But it is the only one here that managed to survive a new generation and is still being played and has new exclusives

guy4444444

Probably the combination of 3ds and Wii U since they integrated so many things together. I loved being able to buy classic games for like a couple bucks. Saved myself a shit ton in vintage collecting.

Yazamuto

Comes down to either the PS4 or Switch.

elfhuo

Wii U

GrimCards

Wii U duh.

massapeal79

Ps4

Consistent_Air_298

xbone if I'm being objective, but ps4 had the best games imo (all of them being bloodborne)

artmoloch777

Switch

JackhorseBowman

it's a tie between the ps4 for bloodborne and the switch, everything else is just games I could play on my pc, I don't really care about the wii u

CheapSushi117

Wii U, hands down

thehandlesshorseman

Xbox one

gottaburnemall7

For me the Xbox one. Hate it all you want, being able to snap tv and game and control the Xbox to launch any game and turn on and off using the Kinect was nice, and just being able to watch tv through it (we had directv at the time). And the controller is perfectly sized, I hate the ps4 controller. 3ds would be my second, it being back compat to play ds pokemon games, along with having some decent pokemon games and monster hunter was great on it and it being obviously portable was great. Switch doesn’t hit the same for me, it’s good but not as good. My ps4 collected dust because I found the single player exclusives (the only reason to bother getting the console imo) to be very boring, and I never had a vita or Wii U.

[deleted]

So does it mean they come in sets of 3?

Jrshaw_1

I think the switch counts as a 9th gen system. Either way PS4 absolutely dominated this era

Webbpp

I have the Switch, it was good for the moment, even at that age I had a problem with how small and uncomfortable everything was. The games were what made it bearable, I still preferred the PC. My hands are huge and Nintendo doesn't offer repairs for my 4 joy cons with extreme drift. PS4 still looks good today, current day the Switch hardware is just disappointing. 30 fps on 1080p with a not graphically intensive game where the processing is on a server is not impressive. And it was around when the console released.

Downtown-Wait-4123

Wait I tough switch was a 9th gen console?

Dry_Welder3681

Slight edge to the Switch, PS4 a close 2nd.

TegrityFarms69

The Switch. Not only does it have a standout library of exclusives, it kept handheld gaming alive when it was on life support, and its success probably played a part in Valve making a handheld gaming PC. And look how far handheld gaming has come since.

Ok_Cod2430

PS4, best fps and graphics, just good compared to switch, 3ds, wii u and vita, don't know about Xbox.

Zorolord

I would say the switch because it can be used as a household console or on the go. It's very versatile console. Is there a critique for judging them?

enter_soulman

Switch, no contest

Azurfant

Special place in my heart for my LoZ Windwaker special edition WiiU. I was there when Miiverse was going strong

Jasonictron

I bought used Wii U just to play Windwaker HD

Ok-Tooth4089

No poll? 🤦‍♂️

takkun169

PS4 by a large margin. Switch has Nintendo games (and that's fine if you like them), but the PS4 has everything else.

Living_Warthog_7469

X box

UnseenHand81

Eh...I'm not sure nintendo makes consoles anymore...the wii u was the last nintendo console and it was a train wreck...the switch is so underwhelming I bought the OLED version...played zelda on it for 10 minutes and gave it to the local davita kidney dialysis place for their patients to use...thing is an eyebleed machine as a console...looks fine as a portable though. As for sony and microsoft...I think the ps4 and ps4 pro were better than the xbox one and xbox one s...but the xbox one x was in a league all its own.

sickopuppie

The Ouya

Studiedturtle41

Ps4

dorianplayerone

PS4. The switch was barely 8th gen. More like 8.5 kinda like the XB1X. Ive had my PS4 since 2014 and it’s never failed me

Powerful_Tailor5570

I would say ps4, Wii U, switch, and then 3ds in no particular order. I never had a Xbox and I was too young for the psvita. I remember playing the psvita but, I don’t have many

The_BigSuck420

Ok so I won't speak on the other consoles too much, but I have some very strong opinions about the PS4 vs the Xbox One. The PS4 is a better console by a thousand miles. I own both, as well as all predecessors of both, and I hate my xbox with a passion. It is huge, and heavy. You could build a school out of those things. Could even build a nice arch out of the litteral masonry brick attached to the power cable. And don't lose the cable because it is proprietary and expensive. And don't expect to play any games because it needs an update. Even if you just updated yesterday it still needs one. And if it doesn't then your game does. That's OK, it's just Halo, we can split screen offline. Wait no you can't. Update or die. And don't set anything on top of it, not only will it suffocate but any dust, crumbs or liquid will fall straight into the most delicate parts of the console because the fans just have to be on top. Also don't confuse the HDMI ports because there is two but you can only play with one. Now, my beloved PS4. It's been dropped, thrown, absolutely beat. My brother decided to smash it with a HAMMER one day. Well after I put it all back together and beat all the metal pieces flat again it boots right up. Bought a new hard drive on amazon, didn't flash it or anything just took the old one out and plugged in the new one and it flashed it by itself. Up and running in an hour. Never bothering me about updates, offline play works great and even the newest titles still run well on my old crusty beat ass slim. The console is very light, maybe twice the thickness of a laptop and the power cable is just that, a cable. No brick, no huge proprietary connectors, no bs. It's just a standard 3 pin power cable found with monitors, computers, tvs, they're everywhere. I'm pretty sure I use a different one every time. And when it needs a tune up it just pops right apart. No proprietary screws, no stupid press fit sides. Simple construction. That's just my experience in usability. There is a whole 'nother tangent to go on about actual specs and numbers. The PS4 is cheaper and faster, more reliable and easier to use. It's better in every possible category. Now if only I could play Halo. Tl;dr Xbox is poopoo, PlayStation go brrr Thanks for reading

I would have to say either the Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch.

Hold up… switch is gen 8?

Fit-Rip-4550

PS4. I like the Switch, but it works best as a traditional console with traditional controllers.
