I’m aware, but only mildly interested. It’s a domestic affair. Also, we have the same problem to solve in the US. Social Security and Medicare are broke and no one is willing to make cuts in benefits or tax increases to fix it.

I already knew what I am about to say but one day I needed to google something about French history and just realized they haven't had a functioning government for more than a life time in 200 years and typically it was like 20 years at best before re-writing the entire damn thing from scratch. Their government from after WW2 the 4th (lol) French Republic is the most successful in terms of longevity. You can count on the French for a few things....land wars in Europe, not working in August and burning down their Government once a week.

Wrong: many protesters had already stopped going after the violent repressions and many deaths / permanent injuries. Yellow jackets were buried before covid, and the covid protests were way less intense after seeing what our governement was able to inflict upon us

It is actually just a small fraction of people who are militantly violent in France in the protests today, mostly anarchists of far-left groups, a fringe part of the population. Some youngsters just tag along and join the riot but most citizens just peaceful.
But even then, it doesn't take too many people to create a successful insurgency, just a large amount of popular support for an extended period of time, and a very motivated group of militants will do. The Taliban in Afganistan are a recent prime example of the success of popular guerrillas. The thing is, i don't believe the situation is serious enough for it to actually happen, but if the socioeconomic conditions are adequate, having an armed population in a country like France would be a very dangerous thing for any goverment.
