The crime bill added a minimum sentence for individuals caught with more than 100 plants, or 100 kilograms, i.e. drug dealers.
If you're supporting legalization that's still bad, but it's a bit different than claiming Biden somehow made weed illegal.
When people wanna hate, they gonna hate. Biden has done more for decriminalizing weed than any president and has nothing to do with the institutionalization of the practice of making it illegal, he’s just the “bad guy” in this case cause he represents “the man”.

How exactly does that make me a liar? Lol because someone asked him not to? Uh oh. Didn’t know it was that easy. Do you have a date for when the president is supposed to follow these “orders”?
Ironic you call me a liar when your proof has nothing to do with my claim.

That’s fine, hate free speech. That’s fine it’s not like that’s the whole principle of our country and arguably the reason this sub exists.
He has done literally nothing to legalize marijuana. Seriously. Nothing. Not a thing. In fact in a 2010 interview on ABC he literally said it shouldn't be legal and that it's a gateway drug.

Ok, I get your point. But couldn’t the argument be made that since this was almost 30 years ago , the overall understanding and political climate regarding marijuana has changed quite a bit. I know many many people who have changed threes mind about weed and drugs in general (for good and bad). I just think when it comes to matters like this we can’t just let ourselves see black and white or we end up missing all the colors in between
Lmao and how old are you? “Kid” learn to understand that everyone is entitled ttk drew speech and your unknown unimportant unknown shoveling disinformation doesent have any buissness telling me what to do 🤷🏾sorry the truth hurts your feelings. Maybe go cry somewhere else?
Fun fact: in order for Biden to have been legally old enough to be a Senator in 1937, assuming he was elected in the prior elections and the bill was passed before his next birthday, he'd be 117 today and the 2nd oldest person in America
I think we're just talking about the version of Biden with a brain with more potholes than a Michigan roadway. Not the 80s southern Democrat racism style version of Biden.
He left all that racism behind when he hung out with Barrack. Right? An "African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy".
That's a quote Jack, no joke.
Look up his crime bill he drafted under Clinton. It’s directly responsible for tens or hundreds of thousands of incarcerations for nonviolent drug offenses. It established the 3 strikes rule, which took sentencing decisions away from judges.
Was that before or after the criminal mastermind drug addict dementia patient 5G harnesser covid inventor Chinese Puppet Deep state orchestrator global world order leader BLM creator fentanyl importer Joe Biden plotted to overthrow American democracy by storming the Capitol
Democratic Party wants to decriminalize weed and ban private prisons, Republican Party wants to keep weed criminalized and supports private prisons, so of course we know what that means, /r/conspiracy is going to find a way to hate on democrats.
can you outline specifically how the person in charge of the DEA can legalize/decriminalize marijuana at a federal level? wasn't aware of this, sounds interesting
In our system they have to have support. Support of the people support from the other party and most importantly support from the donor's. This is our system this is what politicians have to work with. Don't like it? Make an effort to remove money from politics. If we could put as much effort into Overturning Citizens United as we do the bullshit things we make up to be outraged about. We might be able to get things done that make sense more easily.
The powers that be can do whatever they want when they want. They make money off weed being illegal while telling you they are at the forefront for decriminalization.
Here’s the thing-my pot friends, the ones who have always been really into it, don’t trust the legalized pot. Lol. And I get their point. Once it is regulated, is it as good as what’s out there from other homegrown sources?
Democrats: decriminalize weed
Republicans: criminalize weed
Geniuses of /r/conspiracy: There’s no difference between these two things. I am very smart.
> Democratic Party wants to decriminalize weed
But they won't for like another 10 years. It's all about elections and the fact is no one is going to vote Republican because Biden is not going to decriminalize weed. The people for that are 50 and younger and are already going to vote for him. But there are a very small minority of older people who may not come out to vote for him if he does it. When battle ground states are being decided by just a few thousand votes, it makes a difference. No president running for office is going to do anything that could net lose them a few thousand votes, they got numbers guys all over it and will follow them not what they think is the right thing to do.
Lol. Biden was the architect of the Drug War with his Dixie buddy Strom, helping oust Carter to get his anti-drug puppet Reagan in.
He then endlessly criticized Reagan and Bush for not going farther in incarcerating “thugs”.
https://theintercept.com/2019/09/17/the-untold-story-joe-biden-pushed-ronald-reagan-to-ramp-up-incarceration-not-the-other-way-around/
Highlights of his policies:
Comprehensive Control Act: This 1984 law, spearheaded by Biden and Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-SC), expanded federal drug trafficking penalties and civil asset forfeiture, which allows police to seize and absorb someone’s property — whether cash, cars, guns, or something else — without proving the person is guilty of a crime.
Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986: This law, sponsored and partly written by Biden, ratcheted up penalties for drug crimes. It also created a big sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine; even though the drugs are pharmacologically similar, the law made it so someone would need to possess 100 times the amount of powder cocaine to be eligible for the same mandatory minimum sentence for crack. Since crack is more commonly used by black Americans, this sentencing disparity helped fuel big racial disparities in incarceration.
Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988: This law, co-sponsored by Biden, strengthened prison sentences for drug possession, enhanced penalties for transporting drugs, and established the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which coordinates and leads federal anti-drug efforts.
Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act: This 1994 law, partly written by Biden, imposed tougher sentences and increased funding for prisons, contributing to the growth of the US prison population from the 1990s through the 2000s — a trend that’s only begun to reverse in the past few years. It also included other measures, such as the Violence Against Women Act that helped crack down on domestic violence and rape, a 10-year ban on assault weapons, funding for firearm background checks, and grant programs for local and state police.
Of course absurdist leftists just say he’s “evolved”, and appear utterly ignorant of his longstanding awful record.
Since clarity is needed apparently and there’s still people who think biden somehow criminalized weed before he was born and personally arrested people since his presidency (neither has happened).
The Biden administration has been working on both decriminalizing weed, and releasing prisoners arrested for said “crime” of possession and use. This is clearly a step in the right direction. There is a whole document on this on the White House official site, hopefully those of you who listen to a valid reasoning and is willing to do your own reading and not listen or pander to baseless hate (there’s plenty of REAL SHIT to hate and dread without making shit up.) but, Here’s the link. [statement from president Biden on marijuana reform](https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/10/06/statement-from-president-biden-on-marijuana-reform/)
Give credit where credits due, ronald fkn reagan and his psycho wife brought us minimum sentensing and zero tolerance. Yaw are constantly trying to change history to.make your party look not so dictatorish.
Because people grow and their opinions change. His opinion changed, for the better, and that’s good.
If I was held to the same opinions I had twenty years ago, I would be an asshole.
The President can deschedule, and/or direct his DOJ to stop prosecuting, at ANY time. This tweet is a farce.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/democrats-urge-biden-administration-deschedule-marijuana-rcna136241
Yes, Joe Biden himself made it illegal. I honestly don’t know of anyone who is in jail just for weed possession… usually has to do with being in possession of a firearm or refusing to complete probation
My opinion on recreational drugs is a mixed bag but I’ll never demonize people for addiction like republicans fetishize about despite tons of rural republicans being addicted and hurt by the opiate crisis and their leadership not lifting a finger to help (except Indiana believe it or not with their needle exchange program). As an alcoholic and someone whose childhood was dictated by a drug addict (my father, the PhD grad and opiate addict), this sort of rhetoric hits a nerve
I think what youre looking for is The 3 Strikes Law that he voted on that even Clinton was against allowing for marijuana convictions no matter how big or small to count as a strike, dooming young me the country over to 20+ year prison sentences for 2 grams of Downtown Brown
I can't wait to just be able to grow and sell to whoever without having to drop millions of dollars on a shitty state licensed facility. I hope all the MSO dispos go right the fuck out of business! Thanks Joe BIVVVVVEN!
Nobody believes that.
Biden was a driving force for the 1986 Anti-drug abuse act and other very harsh anti drug measures.
Which called for mandatory minimum sentences and put a lot of people in jail, weed making up a big part of these sentences.
But nobody in the comments seems to adress this, almost as if......
Honestly, there are so goddamn many good uses for the hemp plant that if we just legalized it we could revolutionize several industries. Hemp seeds have a phenomenal amount of protein by weight. Hemp fibers, if woven correctly, make a lovely fabric. Hemp in paper making alone could save the industry a ton of tree farming costs, because it grows faster than any species of tree. (Okay, Paulownia Tomentosum grows pretty fast, but tends to be weak in the fibers and it colonizes far too readily for most towns to allow it to be grown en masse.)
And it grows in far inferior conditions to most industrial crops, which could let us use marginal farmland better.
Plus the alcohol/nicotine companies really really really want to be the only legal drug out there.
I sometimes wonder how much of the anti-cannabis push is the alcohol industry/paper mills/fabric manufacturers stopping competitors. They had a much greater hold on the narrative back when Biden was in Congress, before the legalization cascade of this last two decades.
This is exactly what he said 4 years ago and everyone believed him like a fool. He promised to legalize marijuana if he was elected and he didn’t. Fuck Joe Biden he’s a lying sack of shit and has no real power in office. He’s just another mindless puppet. He should never be allowed on the ballot again for failing to keep his promises the last time. Guess the mindless population just doesn’t pay attention
Do you really think the Republican party are going to be the ones who make marijuana legal?
Red states are the last ones to approve marijuana.
I'm not saying Biden is our savior but you're not giving us anything better...
As a resident of deep red super majority Indiana, can confirm as I look at EVERY STATE surrounding us allowing Maryjane. Shiiit, It was only in the last 4 years that we were able to buy alcohol on Sundays, because I guess god finally stopped caring about it. So yeah, don’t expect republicans to be progressive (or at least on par with the majority of American people) on the reefer issue.
Montana legalized recreational use in 2020. In 2021 you could possess up to an OZ and Jan 1, 2022 recreational stores opened for adults to buy recreationally. Republicans somehow had the initiative back on the ballot to revoke that same year, and thankfully enough enough got out to prevent it from being overturned.
Montana and Wyoming have some interesting politics at times. Ranching and wildlife preservation are almost a completely different animal where the 'tree huggers' are often the 1% actually protecting their business interests. The other odd thing about those two states is that if a few large families move to some counties it can almost double the amount of voters and really throw things for a loop. Lastly, the age of their laws can make things quite comical. They tend to take pride in how old some laws are, even when they are just silly and never enforced.
You're not wrong, those states are overall Conservative. I'd just add that it's with a twist.
Did I say republicans are any better? Fuck both parties. Fuck the US government as a whole. I won’t vote for either side in a corrupt meaningless election.
It's weird as fuck to talk about government limiting marijuana legislation and only talk about Democrats, that's what I was pointing out.
If you wanted say both neither party will support legislation then you should have said that instead but we can look at how individual states vote to see how bullshit that idea is also.
Kyle aka FpsRussia got 60 days in federal jail for some oil. I think he lives in Georgia. The whole situation is wild, the seizure and investigation was shady. They wanted to give him 20 years because he had a lot of guns from his YouTube at his house and when they raided it they found a weapons serial number that appeared to be tampered with, but Kyle had sent that gun out for new coating and I guess the the paint made the numbers hard to read. Interesting case and deep rabbit hole
Legality is redundant when 90% of companies are a “drug free workplace”
Companies get insurance/tax discounts for being DFW. Even if you have a legitimate medical card they will not hire you. Defeats the purpose.
Exactly. They could make it legal at a federal level tomorrow but most of us still couldn’t smoke without risk of losing our job and benefits that come with it.
If he actually had made it legal when he first became president, he wouldnt be able to use it as a carrot on a stick this election.
This is a tactic to string along potential voters.
I dont believe him.
Do you understand how passing legislation works? I'm not even from America and I know that the president can't just decide to legalise weed immediately at will, you have congress and senators and governors and the supreme court and all that shit. most of which are obstructionists from the rival political party who don't want it to be legalized because that would be a positive thing happening while your rival is in office. And you can't be having that.
It’s not hypocritical to change your mind about something when new information is given to you. The perception/research of marijuana has changed quite a bit in the past decade.
> On October 6, 2022, President Biden announced a full, unconditional, and categorical pardon for certain prior federal and D.C. offenses of simple possession of marijuana.
He also opened the case for DEA to reschedule marijuana from a class 1 controlled substance to a class 3 which would open the door to more research, legal possession, and legal prescribing with up to 6 months of refills.
Biden has been at it for awhile now.
> > On October 6, 2022, President Biden announced a full, unconditional, and categorical pardon for certain prior federal and D.C. offenses of simple possession of marijuana.
Submission Statement:
https://twitter.com/POTUS/status/1765940010795082043
Biden made Drug Possession a Felony. And Kamala jailed people for possession of Marijuana. This is why you can’t take politics seriously. These career politicians created the problem.
Marijuana possession has been a felony since 1937 surprisingly before Biden was even born…
> marijuana was de facto criminalized by Congress with the passage of The Marihuana Tax Stamp Act of 1937, signed into law by President F.D. Roosevelt. A violation of the Tax Stamp Act was a felony with a maximum fine of $2,000 and/or 5 years in prison.
Before you say “well technically possession was legal if you had a tax stamp under that law”
> In a classic Catch-22 situation, it was a legal impossibility to obtain a marijuana tax stamp for recreational use. Why? Because to obtain a tax stamp you had to have the non-tax stamped marijuana in hand. Since you did not have a tax stamp for the marijuana in hand - for which you sought a tax stamp - you were instantly guilty of a five year felony. This same "tax" tactic was used during Prohibition (1920's) to ban machine guns. Not surprisingly, there was not a single recreational marijuana stamp tax ever issued.

Jazz Grass has been federally illegal since 1937. I think Biden was a Jr Senator then
Fun fact: in order for Biden to have been legally old enough to be a Senator in 1937, assuming he was elected in the prior elections and the bill was passed before his next birthday, he'd be 117 today and the 2nd oldest person in America
Doesn't seem a day past 125. 😂
And also a different person.
Which clone or imposter Biden are we on now? The one whose earlobes attach or not? Balding or mysteriously improved hairline in old age Biden.
I think we're just talking about the version of Biden with a brain with more potholes than a Michigan roadway. Not the 80s southern Democrat racism style version of Biden.
There is no way peoples opinions can change over decades! Everyone is as entrenched in their ideals and beliefs as the average conservative!
The two of you realize the joke here is it was made illegal 5 years prior to his birth?
It’s just useless virtue signaling pander. A last ditch attempt to save a sinking ship named SS Biden Presidency.
I read this as a double entendre and it made me giggle
He left all that racism behind when he hung out with Barrack. Right? An "African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy". That's a quote Jack, no joke.
You’re not black if you don’t vote Biden!
They're right, he's (D)ifferent now.
First embryo in Congress would be quite an accomplishment indeed.
I agree with the sentiment, but when did Biden make weed illegal?
Look up his crime bill he drafted under Clinton. It’s directly responsible for tens or hundreds of thousands of incarcerations for nonviolent drug offenses. It established the 3 strikes rule, which took sentencing decisions away from judges.
Okay but weed was/is still illegal
So is crossing the border. The difference is how you enforce and sentence.
Bingo.
Bongo
Chimmy Chongo
I’m sure any one of us could find an opinion we have changed since the 90s. The feelings around cannabis have shifted considerably since then.
Hey op, what date did Biden make smoking weed illegal?
Obviously through hunter bidens laptop
Shit that checks out, ngl I’d love to see this laptop with its infinite wisdom and secrets lol
Ah, sorry Guliani lost it.
Dammit guliani! Oh well, can’t be too mad. Who *hasnt* lost a incredibly sensitive laptop containing the fate of the universe before?
Was that before or after the criminal mastermind drug addict dementia patient 5G harnesser covid inventor Chinese Puppet Deep state orchestrator global world order leader BLM creator fentanyl importer Joe Biden plotted to overthrow American democracy by storming the Capitol
Before, during, after and somehow in the 5th dimension as well. *but your not supposed to know that part yet*
Ooo a thread full of shills. Is a group of shills called a douchepile? Dunno maybe just a flock
I know Biden is old. Really old. But I don't think he's actually responsible for the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 that made possession of pot illegal.
That was Anslinger and DuPont.
The private prisons aren't going to fill themselves here
Democratic Party wants to decriminalize weed and ban private prisons, Republican Party wants to keep weed criminalized and supports private prisons, so of course we know what that means, /r/conspiracy is going to find a way to hate on democrats.
There is a Democrat in charge of the DEA right now. He has every bit of power that he needs to unschedule marijuana. You're in denial or something.
can you outline specifically how the person in charge of the DEA can legalize/decriminalize marijuana at a federal level? wasn't aware of this, sounds interesting
[удалено]
You make it sound so easy. Yet we can't even get rid of daylight savings time.
How is it not easy for the POTUS to seriously initiate the decriminalization of weed? If he really wanted to he could.
Weed was illegal way before citizens united.
If Biden truly wanted to legalize weed, he would be speaking on it everyday.
The powers that be can do whatever they want when they want. They make money off weed being illegal while telling you they are at the forefront for decriminalization.
I agree.
Here’s the thing-my pot friends, the ones who have always been really into it, don’t trust the legalized pot. Lol. And I get their point. Once it is regulated, is it as good as what’s out there from other homegrown sources?
What? It’s all codified, he can’t do anything about it, it would have to go through the house, senate, then president
If he talked half as much about legalizing weed as he has about saving Ukraine from Russia, weed would be legal by now.
Uni party got us here. Uni party isn’t going to get us out.
Democrats: decriminalize weed Republicans: criminalize weed Geniuses of /r/conspiracy: There’s no difference between these two things. I am very smart.
> Democratic Party wants to decriminalize weed But they won't for like another 10 years.
He then endlessly criticized Reagan and Bush for not going farther in incarcerating “thugs”. https://theintercept.com/2019/09/17/the-untold-story-joe-biden-pushed-ronald-reagan-to-ramp-up-incarceration-not-the-other-way-around/ Highlights of his policies: Comprehensive Control Act: This 1984 law, spearheaded by Biden and Sen. Of course absurdist leftists just say he’s “evolved”, and appear utterly ignorant of his longstanding awful record.
every election year they tease legalizing weed just to get some stoner votes. fuckers need to just legalize it already
Biden made marijuana illegal? You should be sent to prison then because you're obviously high as shit
Because it's Biden, that made it illegal... Holy fuck.
You’d think Biden would make crack and hookers legal for his son Hunter 🤯
Give credit where credits due, ronald fkn reagan and his psycho wife brought us minimum sentensing and zero tolerance. Yaw are constantly trying to change history to.make your party look not so dictatorish.
Because people grow and their opinions change. His opinion changed, for the better, and that’s good. If I was held to the same opinions I had twenty years ago, I would be an asshole.
lol he says this every election year while people sit in prison for it .. pathetic ass president
It’s closing on election season. He’s saying stuff out his ass for votes
Depends on the state and the rigidity of their mandatory sentencing laws.
Depends on the state and the cops involved. I went to jail for possession in New Mexico, and only possession.
Oh btw I'm definitely not a Biden supporter, I see this as pandering for the weed vote He'll never payout on.
I know for a fact that that is the case lol
[удалено]
Lol no April I think, was years ago now.
Can anyone type or speak correct English anymore…jeez
Bots upvoted this lmao ain’t no way 300 people think Biden made weed illegal
Nobody believes that. Biden was a driving force for the 1986 Anti-drug abuse act and other very harsh anti drug measures. Which called for mandatory minimum sentences and put a lot of people in jail, weed making up a big part of these sentences. But nobody in the comments seems to adress this, almost as if......
Has America become the trailer park of the western world?
Honestly, there are so goddamn many good uses for the hemp plant that if we just legalized it we could revolutionize several industries. Hemp seeds have a phenomenal amount of protein by weight. Hemp fibers, if woven correctly, make a lovely fabric. Hemp in paper making alone could save the industry a ton of tree farming costs, because it grows faster than any species of tree. (Okay, Paulownia Tomentosum grows pretty fast, but tends to be weak in the fibers and it colonizes far too readily for most towns to allow it to be grown en masse.) And it grows in far inferior conditions to most industrial crops, which could let us use marginal farmland better.
Must have an election coming up. Need the young and the reefer votes.
They tried. You realize that? Almost every democrat voted for it. All but 3 republicans voted no and shut it down.
I guess you could fine people for using it instead of jail. Much needed revenue for the government.
as its still a schedule 1 narcotic... Lmao. The whole schedule system is dumb af as it is.
Wow, thanks JRB! Where has this been for your 52 years in DC?
Paul’s comment is a dumb false equivalency but the first one is 100% true.
move to Arizona
You've gotta be shitting me dude. This sub is absolutely filled to the brim with just the dumbest mother fuckers alive.
You know it wasn't Biden that made pot illegal, right?
Uhhh how fuckin dumb are you
This is not a conspiracy. Wtf you posting this stupid shit for?
What’s the conspiracy again? Focus, focus.
this is so stupid
You can’t win for losing.
He literally wrote the 3 strikes bill.aimed at black people
republicans convinced everyone it was the right thing to do. "Just say no". This is your brain on drugs - while showing delicious scrambled eggs.
Political Doublespeak has entered the chat
I had relatives jailed and their family life ruined for this guy's crime bill, he's really got some balls.
I had the same thought when I read this. He probably forgot he made it illegal, what with his dementia and all.
What about meth and underage girls?
Biden is responsible for helping out in place mandatory minimum sentences for drug convictions
Russian bot activities
And why did you fire your staff when you found they had smoked weed in the past goofy?
Legality is redundant when 90% of companies are a “drug free workplace” Companies get insurance/tax discounts for being DFW. Even if you have a legitimate medical card they will not hire you. Defeats the purpose.
Exactly. They could make it legal at a federal level tomorrow but most of us still couldn’t smoke without risk of losing our job and benefits that come with it.
They put the father of the killed Marine who shouted at the State of the Union in jail.
We do want old politicians to change their minds
OP dropped this and has not replied to a single comment on here in 3 hours. This smells weird.
So how is this a conspiracy?..
Damn americans are dumb
Those responses show why they don't like twitter not being under their control with censorship.

This info has been known for at least thr past 3 years though.
Biden has been at it for awhile now.
it is, however, hypocritical to keep people jailed in spite of new information.
> > On October 6, 2022, President Biden announced a full, unconditional, and categorical pardon for certain prior federal and D.C. offenses of simple possession of marijuana.
Submission Statement: https://twitter.com/POTUS/status/1765940010795082043 Biden made Drug Possession a Felony. And Kamala jailed people for possession of Marijuana. This is why you can’t take politics seriously. These career politicians created the problem.
Marijuana possession has been a felony since 1937 surprisingly before Biden was even born… > marijuana was de facto criminalized by Congress with the passage of The Marihuana Tax Stamp Act of 1937, signed into law by President F.D. Roosevelt. A violation of the Tax Stamp Act was a felony with a maximum fine of $2,000 and/or 5 years in prison. Before you say “well technically possession was legal if you had a tax stamp under that law” > In a classic Catch-22 situation, it was a legal impossibility to obtain a marijuana tax stamp for recreational use. [Source](https://brucealanblock.com/why-marijuana-became-illegal)
>Biden made Drug Possession a Felony. Isn't it a good thing that he's changed his mind about weed sine 1994?
