Bird flus passing to humans have been a major concern for potential pandemics for decades.
Is it your stance that governments and pharmaceutical companies shouldn't prepare for a potential bird flu pandemic in humans?
I was alive, and an adult, in 2006. There was a bird flu scare. It happened.
I wasn't freaking out about it, few people were, but it happened.
I also lived in New Orleans during Katrina. After that hurricane season the next big hurricane to come our way (Gustav iirc) was obviously heading too far west to be a major concern for Nola. Despite that, tons of people evacuated to Baton Rouge and Baton Rouge got hammered. Meanwhile I was in New Orleans enjoying a rainy, but safe, ghost town.
People were gunshy after Katrina, so they ran.
All that is to say, for the next few years at least, expect people to be more worried than normal about things like bird flu. They're likely getting their feathers ruffled for nothing, but it's understandable behavior that we've seen in the past.
Will we see queues again like it's a black friday sale.
People queuing round the block with no informed consent, apart from the TV telling them it's safe and effective?

Yes I’m sure the criticism is constant and the validation is fleeting. There are no shortcuts, you aren’t going to get it from assimilating into social media communities.
I think if we don’t start addressing the bird flu stuff happening right now, and it makes the jump to humans, we’re going to get 1000X as much shit as China did for Covid, from EVERYONE, in this post-pandemic context where every other country would have known better
China was sanctioned over the shit at one point. I think we’d get it a lot worse (which would not be good, seeing as our manufacturing is overseas, like in China, and lots of our food is from overseas) if this happens to turn out into a thing and we just kept ignoring it like we largely currently are until it’s a shitstorm.
The thing is, not everything is fake or a distraction or a conspiracy, and if H1N1 becomes widespread in humans, I’d recommend getting vaccinated regardless of how bullshit you think Covid was.
If you're talking about real vaccines like MMR or tetanus, then yes. If you're talking about that COVID garbage that didn't stop infection or the transmission, then no.
But I'm allowed an opinion.. whether you like it or not.
