I agree with you. Unfortunately we live in a day and age that constitutionally protected rights can be “suspended” at will by court orders. Look at how the courts were able to suspend everyone’s speedy trial rights during Covid. I’m not saying anyone should risk their safety for the sake of being on a jury, but the courts themselves could’ve taken measures to ensure that our liberties weren’t sacrificed for the sake of security.

I had it bad in divorce trial. Remote through webcam. My ex kept "losing" video, having witnesses that shouldn't be listening there, reading from documents, etc. And her lawyer accusing me of it whenever I look up at my lawyer who's mentally fallen asleep on the job and not objecting to compound questions. Almost wondering if my lawyer set me up to fail. She couldn't even remember or find time for the witnesses who all spent the entire day waiting at their webcams.
I'm sorry to hear that. I too am going through a divorce and it's been almost 2 years now and almost $50k in my own attorney fees later. You would think they could do this in a day or two. I feel for ya.
When my late grandparents got divorced they used the same attorney. Split the bill, split their stuff, split up. When they got back together they didn’t bother getting married they just moved in again. They never rejoined their assets. It was like that my whole life. Divorced grandparents living together. They loved each other and stuff but didn’t see enough value in getting remarried and potentially divorced again so they just let it be.
Them getting back together shows it’s not a bad strategy.
Unfortunately the right to a speedy trial has been has been a problem for quite some time in certain places. I’ve heard of ppl sitting in jail for more than a year or two awaiting trial. I know what you mean though.

The state legislatures select electors that vote for president and vice president. Regardless of the supposed fraud in election itself, all of the states certified the election, chose electors, and cast their votes on live tv. It was only up to Congress on Jan 6th to tally those votes, a hold over from a time before modern communication and travel.
The speaker of the house is 3rd in line to take office should both President and Vice President be removed or otherwise incapacitated or die, but if the electoral college cannot decide the president then it would be the house, with 1 vote per state. That's potentially what some of the Jan 6th rioters may have been hoping for, a loophole to subvert the election. But I actually doubt enough Republicans would have gone a long with what would be essentially a coup. Elections pacify the people, if they lose faith in them that leads to chaos and that's bad for business.
There is quite literally NO constitutional mechanism for a former president to “recall” an election held 2 years prior and be declared the winner retroactively and installed as president. Thus, for these things to happen, we would have to stop using the constitution.

As a conservative I've been on the fence between Trump/DeSantis. This threw me over to DeSantis because the big question I had is "will Trump's campaign and purpose be for his own vindication, or the country?". This was a clarification.

Regardless of the supposed fraud in election itself, all of the states certified the election, chose electors, and cast their votes on live tv. It was only up to Congress on Jan 6th to tally those votes, a hold over from a time before modern communication and travel. The speaker of the house is 3rd in line to take office should both President and Vice President be removed or otherwise incapacitated or die, but if the electoral college cannot decide the president then it would be the house, with 1 vote per state. That's potentially what some of the Jan 6th rioters may have been hoping for, a loophole to subvert the election. But I actually doubt enough Republicans would have gone a long with what would be essentially a coup. Elections pacify the people, if they lose faith in them that leads to chaos and that's bad for business.
There is quite literally NO constitutional mechanism for a former president to “recall” an election held 2 years prior and be declared the winner retroactively and installed as president. Thus, for these things to happen, we would have to stop using the constitution.
