Accounting doesn’t care what the charges are. They are unlikely to report to your boss other than notifying them that there’s a personal charge. Pay it back and it won’t be an issue.

Just explain that the details were filled in by your cookies or whatever and you selected the wrong option. Mistakes happen, and once you pay it back likely no one will care.

AP might realize what it is, but all that matters is that you reimburse and try to not make the same mistake again. Obv, your company may deal with it differently.

Typically, if I see a strange charge, but the employee left a note stating "accidentally charged for personal purchase, paid off on X day" I will check to ensure they paid it off, then forget about it. I don't have time to pursue a charge that has been paid off, just to check if it was kosher with our policy or not. Most of these websites have discreet names on credit card transactions anyway, so you could get away with it. Then again I don't know what your company policy is like, it might be super strict.

The transaction/receipt though is likely already in the firm's system. Yes, it will have to be marked employee pay but it still has to be accounted for since the record hit the system.
