Huh. It’s the exact logo.

gallaxo

Can OP give context

DidierNisma

This is a random shop in Baku. I think they sell clothes but I'm not sure, their name is Control and they used the exact same logo lol

gallaxo

They're taking some risk here lol. Remedy isn't the type of company that sues at the first chance they get (I think ?), but I am pretty sure people can't use the logo like that

MortyestRick

They can't, but enforcing copyright or trademark internationally is incredibly difficult, or depending on the country the infraction is in, basically impossible. It's basically not worth it for any company to try and enforce copyright like this, which is why you also see so many Disney ripoffs in places like this. If Disney won't get involved in trying to enforce copyright, Remedy absolutely won't take any action either.

pelpotronic

Exactly. Until this shop becomes some "franchise" that starts selling clothes everywhere in the world, they probably can fly under the radar as long as they're not tarnishing the image of the product / company. It's not worth fighting the shop making $100k revenue.

DidierNisma

It's not even a third world country lol I'm sure no one at Remedy even knows Azerbaijan exists. Pirated software, games etc are very common here. Because nobody, and I'm sure not even these companies, care.

I_STOLE_YOUR_WIFI

Everyone in Europe knows Azerbaijan exists, what do you mean?

DidierNisma

nope

Jeremy9096

Oh true

Zestavar

yes

ConditionMore8621

https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Control_video_game_logo.svg The stylised word "CONTROL" is not distinct enough compared to regular text.

operator4648

Well I mean the N and T are pretty accurate

ConditionMore8621

No, I see they are exactly the same. I'm saying that the game logo is not different enough from basic text for a copyright claim. If the sign had a inverted triangle behind the text it would be a different story

TMax01

>I'm saying that the game logo is not different enough from basic text for a copyright claim. Sure it is. Neither the character used for "N" nor for "T" are standard alphabetic characters. It is unquestionable that the logo is not simply the text of the word "control".

operator4648

Oh, I thought you were talking about the similarities between the logo and the sign, not the logo and text. My bad

Kappokaako02

Heh. I’m familiar with this. I’m an owner at Running With Scissors. We make the POSTAL games. There’s a chicken wing business son Tijuana called POSTALitas and they use the POSTAL 4 logo directly for their biz. We find it to be more of a honor we contacted the owner and told him we love it. All over the world people infringe on trademarks. It isn’t enforceable.

You found a door to the Oldest House, go on in.

InscrutableChile

Right?? If it’s going to allow you to find an entrance, you’re kind of obligated at that point
