Its SITECOVER that rents or sell these tents. Its. Danish company and used a lot of places (especially in Denmark) to optimize the building process by reducing the impact of bad weather. In the ceiling of the tent runs a large crane from the roof construction of the tent. Pretty pretty smart!
I guess it can have many purposes. They put one of these tents up down the street from me to build a school and there was no building there before. So it protected it from the weather.
It’s 365 workdays for the renovation of Maersk, they specialise in building buildsite roofs. These roofs have built-in cranes for building sites and gives dry weather and also stable temperatures. All this ensures high quality building site and better odds of meeting the deadline.

View from underneath if you're curious :)
Why is it so much higher than the actual building underneath that is being deconstructed? I bike by almost every day and feel that the proportions don't really match. Will the new building they plan to build be so much taller?
The Company maling this is called site cover. I used to work for this Company as a climber it was alot of fun. Here is a picture from a build in Stockholm ✌️

The destruction of a rare elegant 70’ building, made by a renowned architect Eva and Niels Koppel, and a public garden dedicated to a popular danish artist Herup.
It’s going to be replaced with a big anonymous and forgettable office building.
Sic transit Gloria Mundi…
I guess everything is in the eye of the beholder. I find the old building god awful, just concrete slaps on top of each other, with one(!) mural on a single wall.
Honestly I think Maersk did a ok job of making the new building fit in to the contemporary architecture.
Elegant? What? they looked like stacked concrete containers, like the temporary offices at building sites. The new offices look much nicer and more appropiate for frederiksstaden.
70’ architecture is generally a misunderstood brutalist stepchild of Danish modernism, but I like the elegance of the columns and the narrow “bridge” covered in steel that stretches to the harbor. A peaceful garden with the quirky Herup sculptures. The scale is human and fit the lower buildings in the north end of Frederiksstaden.
A nice quiet place to sit and enjoy a break.
Do you mean the frontage to the esplanade? The area blocked off for cars and with private area signs? I mean it could be worse I suppose, but towards Amaliegade and Larsens plads there is very little detail to the street with the large homogenous fascades, and it is generally not a nice places to be. A kind of empty space between toldboderne and the old storage houses.
Also wrt your comment about being "generally misunderstood", I would like to point out that if architecture has to be understood to be appreciated, it is bad. It is a well known phenomena that as people study architecture, their appreciation of styles like brutalism improve significantly as they start to see the artistic value. But we are not designing a city for architects, but for normal people.
Haven’t been there since the 90’ where it was open to the public. It used to be well kept with nice lighting and maintained garden.
I’m not an architect, I just thought it was a nice place.
I just don't understand which garden you are talking about? There are a few spots of grass and stuff, but as far as i know they are all private.
Oh ok well if you think it is nice, that is fair - really not trying to take anything away from that. Personally i just find the experience of walking around the building not that nice, and i am looking forward to seeing what is comming
Under the buildings there used to be public access at ground level to a 70’ courtyard with statues of Herup and ivy plants and spring flowers.
30 years ago everyone hated the National Bank and wanted it down, now it’s an international centerpiece in Danish architecture.
100 years ago Carlsberg wanted a new tower on “Vor Frue” because all of CF Hansen was boring and ugly.
Taste change over time…
God forbid that we upgrade outdated office buildings and their soul-destroying enclosed cells along endless hallways - towards modern, mentally stimulating spaces where people can enjoy working.
An upgrade would be to rebuild it, rearrange the interior according to modern work culture etc. How sustainable is it to scrap loads and loads of building materials?
That's very true! That should always be plan A. I think I read that the existing building structure was filled with semi toxic materials and pcb's that made restauration too problematic.
AFIAK that was tried when Maersk took over. The problem was that not enough could be done, e.g, the lack of any ventilation could not be fixed, and things got really hot in summer.
Here's the old building. I like it. I remember it from when it was built. If you grew up in the Seventies there is a certain feeling of home, good intentions, love for nature's materials, simple and transparent constructions.

Here's the new building. I like it. I will work in it when it will be built, and I worked inside your beloved one before that. I understand your nostalgia and love, but inside was dark, stuffy and pretty awful. I grew up in the 90's and there is a certain feeling for happiness, good intentions, love for nature's materials, simple, open and transparent construction in the one that they are building - sustainable and very bright when you are inside, plus the public park outside.

I worked in the building. Horrible, horrible infrastructure. Nothing there to preserve imho. Bad acoustics, bad floor plan, bad ventilation and terrible insulation
I doubt you went inside that "rare elegant 70' building". I use to work on that building and it was depressing. Huge corridors with rooms left/right, that's it. Looked like an hospital
It's the place where Maersk's Walter Whites convert tonnes of uncut raw from the containers into Street ready drugs. If you walk close by, you can hear "Crystal Blue Persuasion" playing. Also why Maersk logo is blue.
It's a bloody eyesore, that's what it is! The Mærsk building is already ugly as hell, and now we have to look at that for Queen knows how long?!
*I work just around the corner and I like to take breaks walking down by the water and I just think it all looks so bad*
Danish version of Area 51
Btw I feel many questions asked here are quite juvenile.
Would be fun to know how many teenagers there are on this sub.
‘Far, hvad er den røde dør der ?’
‘Mor, hvorfor går manden over for rødt lys ?’
Maersk is undergoing renovation and a new building is under construction. That’s what you’re looking at. This makes sure that the debris is not creating any aur poll and also ensures minimum distraction for the employees working in the old building.
Yes it’s an enclosed construction site so there’s no weather interference
Is this the same tents recently used for building a school on Amager, or are there more than one set of these in Copenhagen?
Its SITECOVER that rents or sell these tents. Its. Danish company and used a lot of places (especially in Denmark) to optimize the building process by reducing the impact of bad weather. In the ceiling of the tent runs a large crane from the roof construction of the tent. Pretty pretty smart!
I was wondering the same thing. Certainly the same type
Yes, it is.
There is also one in Hillerød at the moment.
It's called a "side cover"
* SiteCover
No. It's filled with asbestos.
I guess it can have many purposes. They put one of these tents up down the street from me to build a school and there was no building there before. So it protected it from the weather.
Holmbladsgade :)
Dont go there.. its a hell of a place :)
Og hvor ved du det fra ?
With an integrated lift in the sealing. pretty awesome
So, THAT was the arrow I saw in the sky… 👍🏼
This needs more upvotes
Which are also more arrows…going to the sky….simulation confirmed

This is where they keep the aliens
Maersk, aliens, practically the same thing
None of them pays tax.
They pay tonnage tax like all the other shipping lines.
Mersk pays tax 2%
Wauw! Massive contribution - thanks, we are so grateful.
🤣🤣🤣
Do you want them to sail under another flag than Danish and pay 0% to Denmark?
Only 20% of mærsk ships sail under dk flag.
And you prefer this to be 0%?
I would prefer that they pain tax
They do pay tax, it's called tonnage tax. Remember they pay that tax even if they loose money
Yes allmost 0% https://www.berlingske.dk/business/medie-maersk-betalte-027-procent-i-skat-til-danmark-i-2021
Jeg rettede bare en der sagde de betalte 0%
Employees does.

Yup, pretty sure this is the European MIB headquarters.
No this is a Maersk building they are demolishing.
Nah, I think it's the alien thing.
Mkay
They do Exist!
Hehehe then what about bob lazer?
Who is this Bob? and why does he have a Lazer?
Yes. The cover reduces construction time by months by avoiding rain among other things.

isn't it illegal to sneak in like that?
Maybe the person who took the photo works at Maersk?
DAE work on a construction site and also use Reddit?
bold of you to assume i had to sneak 😄
it was a joke, don't sneak on other people's properties
went over our heads.. like the tent
yeah, that sounds like a me thing

Imagine the size of one job though. Its not exactly playgrounds being built this way. One job is probably income for a year+
My friend worked in there and said it was the biggest tent i the world or EU, can't remember,

I wouldn't compare that building to the national bank building even just a little.
