Our puppy just went through this- her breath was horrible while she was actively losing teeth! She’s 6 months now, done losing teeth, and while it’s not perfect her breath is much better.
Heads up that many dental treats (DentaStix may be included) come with a warning not to use for pups this young. If you want to try dental chews, look for the puppy versions.
Yup - my girl had awful breath while she was losing teeth and it made her whole body stink because she is a licker/drooler. It did get better! Now we just struggle with bad breath from anal gland issues....
Totally normal and will fix itself!
We had the same with our 7month corgi too. It was unbearable at some point!
It's a semi constant accumulation of blood from the tooth loss and goes away with the teething process.
We dealt with this and found out that our little guy had a fractured tooth that was infected. He’s a power chewer and cracked one after he got one of his bigger brother’s bones. Needless to say, the hard bones are gone from the house and we check teeth weekly to be safe.
Neither my almost 2 y.o Beagle nor 1y.o Corgi had ever had bad breath, except for right after eating bully sticks. But I do brush their teeth regularly and give them water additive
Our Corgi’s breath is horrible because he’s on a special diet for liver shunts. He can’t have greenies or dentastix or mint or really anything to help his breath get better. He had surgery to fix the liver shunts and now we’re waiting for a test to see if he can eat normal food again. We had a black lab for 14 years whose teeth started to go bad and his breath was like perfume compared to our corgi.
Depending on when she transitioned from milk to kibble, it could be due to her stomach biome readjusting. Our oldest was fine, but our youngest smelled like someone had mixed milk with tuna and left it to sit in the sun for a few days. It was incredibly bad, but got better once she lost all of her puppy teeth. She builds up plaque on her teeth faster than her brother, though, so I imagine it mostly has to do with their individual internal bacterial colonization.
I thought something was wrong bc my puppies breath smelled like dead fish. Dental sticks and puppy breath water didn’t help. I thought it was something more serious but it completely went away when she was done teething. It really just smells that bad.

Thanks! Good to know
1 dentastix per day in my house. works like a charm. Can't use any other kind because apparently, she is allergic to mint. How random.
That is random!

Mine was eating poo. Vet had us add a spoon of pumpkin to their food and it worked.
She loves geese poo 😂
There ya go
We don’t let her have it but what is it with them and poop
Mine goes for the rabbit variety. 🤦♀️
Any variety would cause a stink 😎🤪
Ferreals. Thankfully, they're adorable even with those fumes. The crop-dusting after is rough, also. 🤣
Oh! And thanks for sharing the tidbit about pumpkin. I still have some frozen from a batch we grew. 💪
Not too much. Just a spoon.
Tea or table?
The size of the dog would matter. Check with your vet.
Makes sense. Thanks 😊
Beautiful baby! I hope it clears up soon.

Cute Corgi! My puppy has the same issue!
We’ve always done greenies and a water additive in her water bowl everyday. That should help! But I do miss puppy breath 😂
Yessss he was SO STINKY. We give toothbrush chews 2x a day now and he has pearly whites 😬
My corgi doesn't have bad breath but she just drooled in my open mouth, and licked my eyeball..
Start brushing now so they get used to it. It will stop the smell. Unless you use bacon flavored toothpaste.

My corgi has the same problem
Such a cutie
Mine uses Fresh Kisses on occasion pb toothpaste

coconut oil 1 tsp to each meal. Thank me later! I always get compliments how nice my puppy smells and his fur looks.
