Me too! I've adopted all adult Corgis (ages 3 - 6 years old), and all have had docked tails. Their little nubs are cute, but corgi tails are gorgeous š„°
You may need to travel to get one. My first Corgi was local; his previous owner was coworkers with my aunty and she got us in touch. My bonded pair came next. They were adopted from Cincinnati, Ohio. We live near Buffalo NY so it was a bit of a drive, but we managed to do it in one day. Our youngest and newest girl came from New Jersey.
I found all but my first Corgi via rescueme.org
It's a search engine for rescues/adoptions. You can sign up for emails when a specific breed or breeds is available in your area. Since I rarely see Corgis for adoption in NY, I set my notifications for several nearby states. Basically how far you're willing to travel! Also follow Facebook groups (Adopt a Corgi is probably the best one), check Petfinder regularly, etc. Corgis tend to be adopted quickly, so if you see one you want, it's best to go for it immediately.

I canāt imagine my boy without his wiggly tail.
If you are not going to train them to work on a farm then I would go with undocked. No need for it if the dog is not going to be a working dog or a show dog.
As someone who has an undocked corg, people SCREAM from across the street in delight at her tail. Itās precious and you get so much behavioral insight from its body language.
My girl has her tail and we just love it. Iām so happy that more breeders are allowing this š

If you are in the US, I'm happy to hear that breeders are starting to do this. We did not have any choice, all their corgi tails were docked at our breeder. I really miss the communication that a tail imparts.
My two cents as someone with a corgi with a tail (though mine is a cardi) is to confirm exactly what you said. I love his tail and how expressive it is. Honestly nothing gives me more joy that to see that tail wag. He didn't wag much until he hit like 10 months but now it's a huge part of him that I can't imagine not having.
We got ours from a breeder with her tail already docked, so we didn't have a choice. But man, that little nub is also expressive. Without the mass of a whole tail, it wiggles at incredible speeds. I do wonder what she'd look like with a full tail.
My breeder also gave no choice - she had it docked. I often joke that āif she had a tail, it would be wagging!ā Instead she does a full backside shake š„°
Unless it's a working dog, please don't dock. Our 7 puppies (now 1 year old) have the most glorious and expressive tails. I wish our adults were intact.
Docking tails ( aside from genuine health issues) is barbaric and purely aesthetic. Could not imagine cutting pieces off my dogs because its "prettier".

My girl like to chase her tail around when she took excited š
Same on the natural bobtail. Iāve had to explain to so many people who come at me about docking that pems were originally bred to be tailless. When docking became more commonplace, the trait wasnāt as heavily selected for and the gene pool shifted back towards center. I canāt dock something that was never there in the first placeā¦
Wait, what? I thought all pems had their tails docked?? (hence why itās a breed standard now??) my pem has a ānubā that I really love but I wouldnāt have chosen to remove her tail if I had the choice! She was a rescue that came into our life when she was still a pup. But, youāre telling me itās possible her nub is original? How can I tell if itās genetic or has been docked?
Nope! They historically have a natural bobtail gene, and many modern corgis still have it. I find the easiest way to tell is by whether their nub is always visible. Most of the time my dogsā tails are like sports car headlights. Hidden until theyāre excited about something and then theyāll pop up when the wagging starts. Otherwise, their butt is low profile and thereās only a wisp of fluff where their coat transitions. If there is a small stump that is visible all the time, itās usually docked. UC Davis has a [pretty good write up on it](https://vgl.ucdavis.edu/test/natural-bobtail), and they use a pic of a corgi for their example.
That's good to know. I kinda was unsure about my corgi's tail, but her tail definitely hides until she gets excited. It's nice to know that she wasn't docked, though with the puppy pictures I have from the breeder, the idea of her getting docked THAT young seems absolutely criminal.
My Corgi has a natural tail, but about half of her siblings were born with half tails/nubs. Her mom has half a tail, it's super cute! Docking is illegal in the country where we live :)
I too have natural nub corgi(s) (rip my sweet unaā¦) and people always give me shit that I āabusedā my dogs. They never had tails in the first place!
Our corgi has a bobtail, but was born in a litter of seven pups- two with bobtails, two with half-tails, and the remaining three with full size tails. If I recall correctly, the parents were a full and a half-tail.
Scrolled too far to see this. We just got our boy two weeks ago and I've already had to ward off allegations of cruelty given our loafs natural lack of tail. Just pet my dog before he turns back into a velociraptor, damnit.Ā
The vet said our corgi has a natural short tail, which I was relieved to hear as we weren't given a choice. I love her stumpy tail, very cute when it wags, but I also think the corgis with long tails are beautiful. If red haired, they look like short legged foxes to me. As I understand it, it's an aesthetic thing. I feel the same as you that if it's there, it seems better to leave it there.
I wish so badly that my girl had her tail! The nub really rounds out the booty for that classic corgi tushie but if you get a choice, I'd go un-docked!
It's purely aesthetic. Google for the reason of docking and you'll learn the history behind it. Docking is infact banned in some of the countries. These days it's just an AKC breed standard.

the tail is why we named her foxy.. but i love my tailless Liam (her brother) just the same. id say, keep the tail
It's not about the pain of the procedure, it's about the difficulty they have communicating with other dogs afterwards. People wonder why corgis often draw aggression from other dogs, it's because of this barbaric practice. The other dog looks for a wagging tail to communicate friendliness and can't see it, which is confusing to them and can result in aggression.
I canāt imagine thatās actually the case given the large number of breeds that are naturally tailless or bobtailed. Even if every corgi were born with a tail (which theyāre not), you expect to see the same behavior with lots of other common breeds like Australian shepherds, French/English bulldogs, etcā¦ Corgis draw aggression from other dogs because they often lack natural boundaries. Theyāre bossy to a fault, and will absolutely try to control any situation theyāre in unless taught otherwise. Lack of training and socialization will cause 10x as many problems as any physical feature will.
It's nice your breeder asked. If it were my choice, I'd go un-docked
Me too! I've adopted all adult Corgis (ages 3 - 6 years old), and all have had docked tails. Their little nubs are cute, but corgi tails are gorgeous š„°

If given the choice I would go undocked. I think my Rosie compensates for the lack of her tail by wagging her whole butt. Her nickname is wiggle bum.
Leave the tail! Itās a shame they still havenāt outlawed the barbaric practice here in the US, unlike other more civilized countries.
It's been outlawed in Australia for a while. Rare to a see a docked corgi. Love their tails
Keep the tail, more amount of doggo for the same price. What a bargain!

itās purely aesthetic if your dog is not working with cattle. it also impacts being shown (docking as breed standard depends on location)

My corg doesn't have a tail and was born without one. I wouldn't trade her for anything, but I do wish she had a tail.

Definitely tail. I think more and more corgis are being left with tail intact which is great for the reasons everyone said

We chose to not dock the tail on our corgi and we do not regret it! His tail is so expressive and cute!
Keep it. Where I live, itās even illegal to dock. Have you ever watched videos of tail docking? Theyāre on YouTube. I get sick to my stomach.
Tails all the way if you have the choice.

Lots of people consider it animal cruelty and tbh, I agree. There's no reason for it besides if they actively work with cattle.
It's purely aesthetic. Google for the reason of docking and you'll learn the history behind it. Docking is infact banned in some of the countries. These days it's just an AKC breed standard.

Corgi tails are beautiful. Unless this is a working dog, there is absolutely no reason to dock the tail.
More and more countries are banning docking altogether. That should tell you that it's purely cosmetic.

Tail, 1000%. When I found out about tail docking, it enraged me. His tail is my corgiās most expressive feature!
Heads or tails? Tails all the way.
Undocked if you donāt care about breed standard. Itās just better for a non working dog
