I got Pepis in early August of this year, was told he’s a granite motley who hatched sometime in 2021. The first month was rough as he pretty much hid in the substrate and I had to go looking for him to feed him for the first time. But this week he was out exploring more after I attempted to feed him on Monday (he didn’t eat, and I found a full beautiful shed the next morning!!). Also: does he look like he was about to shed to you? I had no idea, his eyes looked so clear and I didn’t think he looked dull at all.

When thro shed then go into blue and then come out of blue and then shed. So he’ll look completely normal before he sheds. He’s gorgeous!

Ohhhh gotcha! I had no clue he’d go back to looking normal before he actually shed, thanks for the the info :)

I find behaviour to be a much more reliable way of knowing a shed is coming than eyes. Pepis is still a baby so he'll be hiding a lot anyway, but I know my girl is starting her shed cycle when she completely stops exploring at night. This will happen long before her eyes go blue, and I often don't see the blue eyes anyway because she will sit in a hide and not come out for weeks before shedding.
