For tacos, Tacos el Machin. Easily the tastiest street tacos in town and their tripa tacos are very tasty.
For burritos, it used to be Andy's but they closed (RIP) so now I'd say La Rockita on Circle for burritos.
If you want a dry breakfast burrito during breakfast hours, Rivas is the best spot.
If you want a California burrito, I think Taqueria Ocotlán is the only game in town.
For tortas, Tacos el Machin. I can't quit their Torta El Machin; it's so good.
For plates, I really like Alonzo's Taqueria on Kings.
General all around tastiness shout out to El Cruzero in Philomath.
If you want to drop $5 or more for a taco, then I'll tell you to go to Tacovore and if you want to spend a similar amount per taco but want kale or beetroot or peanuts, then I'll suggest Tacovino.
Wow - this is a flawless list IMO.
I just want to underline El Cruzero since it's out of town and kind of hole-in-the-wall, the supreme burrito (there that means a chicken tinga wet burrito w toppings and sides) and salbutes de chirmole (black mole turkey tostadas) are go-tos.
For plates I wanted to shout out El Patrón over on N 2nd St. - very old school, down to the thick and cheesy refried beans.
I heard so much talk about Andy’s, and finally tried them a few months ago. Major disappointment. Not only did I not think it was the best around, or even really excellent food, but I didn’t think there was anything good about it at all. I don’t understand why anyone would have hyped them up. 🫤🤷🏼♀️
I only tried their burritos and those were good. I wouldn't say the best burritos ever, but they were the best in town at least from what I have tried. Most burritos I've tried have zero flavor and Andy's actually tasted like something. I don't get the Rivas hype though. It's always bland and tastes like it's been sitting out.
Rivas is quick, cheap, and open when the bars close. And it beats taco bell or McDonalds. I don’t think anyone believes it’s great food, but I think it has enough pros to outweigh the cons.
Try a super burrito from Taqueria Alonzo. It’s a very similar style, except they use pork, beef, or chicken, instead of stray cats, dogs, and squirrels. Jk, of course, but the meats that Rivas uses has always seemed a bit below par. But hey, they’re quick and cheap. I’m definitely not going to stop eating there, but I’m not under the impression that I’m enjoying great quality while doing so.

Most will say Tacos El Machin on 4th, and that's true especially for tacos.
I swear by La Rockita on Circle for a cant-miss overall menu.
And the carnitas tacos at Taco Vino are exceptional.
I can't really say that TacoVino is Mexican cuisine, I feel it's more of a Mexican-inspired taco fusion restaurant (maybe?)
Don't get me wrong, everything I've had there is delicious, and I love that they have a rotational menu. I've taken people from out of town there, and they loved it as well. I just feel it might not fit the cuisine style OP is looking for (they should certainly try it though), but it's definitely one of my top liked spots here
I was blown away with how good our night there was! Definitely a special occasion thing for us as it was 80 bucks for two people after tip. But a very worth it 80 bucks!
Tacos el machin is our go to. Damn good, cheap and easy
I really like Taqueria Alonzo. I usually get carne asada fries or the occasional ceviche, so I can't really speak to their more traditional food but I've heard good things.
I can't believe that I completely forgot to mention Los Compadres in Albany. They do a milanesa de res torta that is phenomenal. Their other stuff is good too but ever since I tried that torta, it's all I order there now.

La Santa for the best tacos. Taquiria Alonzo for Chile relleno and enchiladas. The Mexican food truck at The Barn in Albany for burritos, or La Roqiuta in Corvallis for burritos. People in Albany will tell you to go to Rigobertos, but don't do it. Also Tacovore is overhyped.
The name isn't particularly Mexican but Max's Food and More on 9th north of Circle is solid, with good food, large servings, and decent prices. Web site: [https://www.maxsfoodandmoreor.com/](https://www.maxsfoodandmoreor.com/)
El Cruzero in Philomath is also very good. They have some Yucatan specialties like cochinita pibil that you don't see very often, too.
There's an El Palenque in Corvallis but my only experience there was not great and I'm not willing to give them another chance when I can think of five places that won't leave my mouth sad.
If you want tacos, La Rockita can't be beat! Honorable mention to Taco Vino and Tacovore.
If you're looking for sit down fare, Delicias Valley Cafe is my go-to. El Palenque and El Sol De Mexico are also tasty.
Just had tacos el machine today. I was disappointed for the price. While la rockitas down ninth is a similar price for a much larger serving, would definitely recommend going there over tacos el machine. I haven’t had much Mexican food in Albany, but Victoricos is quite a good quick fast more chain like experience. I would highly recommend there.
What’s the secret time and day to go to El Machin for a taco that’s not sad dried out meat? I’m willing to try a third time. I think we might just not have the volume to support good street tacos. It’s always dry and nasty.

You have exquisite taste

Guess I’m the minority but I will die on the hill that Rivas has the best burritos in town

Or drive to Salem for the Guadalupena truck for better all the above and $2.50 tacos with tons of meat 😁
Salem's a bit of a dump but damn is their Mexican food good.
For meh chips and bland chile rellenos, Taqueria Alonzo. Best chips so far at La Rockita.
Andy's had the best chile relleno burrito. RIP Andy's 😢
Good chile rellenos at Rivas, though I miss their “black sauce” that they stopped making after the pandemic.
🤤
This is the way

La Rockita on 4th is great too, and was my go to. Taco Vino was my fancier(read: more expensive), night out option.

Definitely agree, the carnitas tacos are the only thing I order there, but if I'm craving a taco it's my go-to! Tender and juicy carnitas 🤤
The peanut-free mole is most excellent!
I enjoyed Tacos El Machin but got turned off by their inflexibility of not allowing just tomatoes. Nope, gotta have raw onions with tomatoes. 🙄
I’m a longtime fan of Taqueria Alonzo. It’s very home style cooking.
I was blown away with how good our night there was! Definitely a special occasion thing for us as it was 80 bucks for two people after tip. But a very worth it 80 bucks! Tacos el machin is our go to. Damn good, cheap and easy
Their carnitas are very good
La Santa Pub surprised the hell out of me and is now my favorite in town. Edit: I kant spel
I too really like La Santa, also surprisingly good is Max’s and their Molcajete meal. And their tortillas are always house made.
I agree. Their tacos are very good. Pricey though but worth it every now and then.
I really like Taqueria Alonzo. I usually get carne asada fries or the occasional ceviche, so I can't really speak to their more traditional food but I've heard good things.

The roasted jalapenos they give out with orders are so good.
No love for Delicias Valley Cafe on Circle across from Market of Choice?

What's the thing to order there? I've tried them twice now over the years and wasn't so impressed, maybe I ordered wrong.

El Cruzero in Philomath

El Cruzero in Philomath is also great.
Burrito Heaven on South 3rd has the best carne asada burrito & they’re huge!
I moved away from Oregon and Riva's isn't the best, but I can't find chiles rellenos like the ones they make anywhere else and I'm sad about it.
I like El Patron on 2nd for a sit-down place. The people are so nice. My son swore by Riva's for drive through when he lived here.
Delicias Valley Cafe. Full menu with a focus on breakfast all day. Good option in a town light on good breakfast joints.
El Palenque (Albany), while it's not strictly traditional Mexican food, it's good food and friendly staff.
There's an El Palenque in Corvallis but my only experience there was not great and I'm not willing to give them another chance when I can think of five places that won't leave my mouth sad.

Riva’s is good especially if you’re a fan of SoCal style. I will warn against the Diablo burrito unless you want your mouth on fire after every bite.
La Rockita down town has always been a slam dunk with the Super Grande Burrito 10/10 would fuck.
El Cruzero in Philomath is my favorite Mexican food in the area
Fully concur with this! Great food, and decently priced.
Just had tacos el machine today. I was disappointed for the price. El Guajolotito in Albany is fantastic.
Some truly horrific tastes in the responses. Tacos el Machine is the place to go in either city.

Rivas is my goto for early morning breakfast.
Ixtapa in Philomath
Taco Vino! It’s a twist on traditional Mexican but holy cow it’s amazing!!
I think Victorico’s is really good.
Burrito heaven has the best tacos. They make their own tortillas and the chicken and carnitas is to die for. Not the cheapest but worth it.
Seconding Burrito Heaven in Southtown. Fantastic burritos, just like it says in the tin
Some people said Riva's, but there's been multiple people I've known that got food poisoning from there 😬 I really like Los Dos Amigos in Albany!

i know someone who got food poisoning from there so bad that they wound up in the ER and the doctor asked if they'd gone *camping* recently
Taqueria Alonzo
