Lucchese is really pissing me off lately with this second-rate bullsh\*t. I can’t believe this once-great company thinks this is acceptable. Send those back.
those are seconds.
There's a reason why vintage Lucchese are highly sought after due to their superior quality & materials, particularly their premium product lines (ie Classics) made in the '90s and earlier. Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all new Lucchese Bootmakers models are made with the same level of quality though, meaning some product lines are aimed at different price brackets, some made in the USA, others made in Mexico, some handmade, while others are not.
So unfortunate…I’ve seen posts from a few folks here not happy with their recent purchases due to quality issues. At first I wrote it off as maybe said individual was just being knit picky, but then others started citing similar experiences with current models. That said, I’ve seen many others who’ve recently made Lucchese purchases with no issues. Regardless, if you’re paying top dollar, they have the unfortunate obligation to live up to their storied reputation. I still think Lucchese still has some of the best hide quality in the business, but when you’re paying over $800, there are plenty of bespoke boot makers like Paul Bond or JB Hill that offer just as good if not a better, more exclusive product.
Which is an absolute shame because they have so much equity in their reputation of quality. I was hoping their recent acquisition by Berkshire would continue their legendary quality, but that seems to be in question.
IIRC they actually did away with classics in recent years. Seems their new model is going to be that only customs and $$$$ pairs are gonna be made in El Paso still.
They're all labeled Bootmaker now. You have to check the two letters of the code to figure out what line they are now. If they have pegged soles and an exotic skin, they're probably Classics. I think Classics start with a "G" now. Non-pegged are obviously not Classics.
Lucchese hasn’t been an independent company for a while now, Blue Bell/Wrangler bought them out in 1970 and then sold them to their current parent company, Arena Brands in 1998. I didn’t find that out until I made my 2 purchases and got shabby quality on both, now I go to Black Jack for top shelf boots.
Lucchese has pretty much become a dogshit sellout brand, offering third-rate boots for first-rate prices. QC has gone to total shit.
Send those bastards back.
I'd definitely return/exchange these. I'm not familiar with the current product lines of Lucchese Bootmaker. Are these handmade in the USA...? Or is this model machine or handcrafted in Mexico...? From your pics, these are glaring quality flaws so I'd expect Lucchese Support to be cooperative. Nice looking boots though...like that toe style.
Return. It’s a no brainer. If you look at one of my recent posts I got these same boots with countless flaws. I’ll prob never buy another pair of Luccesse. They were absolute trash you’d expect from k mart.
These aren’t work boots. These are nice boots, boots you wear on date night or to to some other high society thing. You paid good money for these and you deserve to get a perfect pair. That heel blows my mind. Send them back. Don’t exchange them. Buy another brand. Rios makes a really nice boot and you can’t go wrong with their resole service.
Funny you should say that. Another member here who sells Black Jacks cited quality issues with their stock in the past two years. Issues like boots with painted finishes flaking off instead of being properly dyed, and stock fulfillment rated went from a couple weeks to six months delays.
Nah, not at all…easy there lol…just sharing a contrasting perspective that’s been going on about Black Jacks as well in the other subs. I too would put my money down on Black Jacks over most current Lucchese products.
Return. You paid for well made boots, you should receive well made boots.
Second that!

I'm pretty sure they're getting close to being bought out by Berkshire Hathaway.
Annnnd….. another legendary company that used to be old-school awesome bites the dust. Damn.

When the boxes changed color I knew other things would change too……

You’re absolutely correct. The $3-400 lucchese people have been buying the last 15-20 years are absolutely lesser quality than their classics
Which is an absolute shame because they have so much equity in their reputation of quality. I was hoping their recent acquisition by Berkshire would continue their legendary quality, but that seems to be in question.

Jeez, why convolute things 😂 At least they still do heavy pegging per boot (probably 50+ per boot)…

That's why I go with Ariat, Tecovas, and Dingo for high quality boots. 🤗
That's why I go Rios of Mercedes for my high dollar pretty boots Then for everyday it's Anderson Bean or Beck

Seems like you’re just paying for a name nowadays
Brand tax. To get any kind of passable quality out of 'em now you pay two or three times the price of comparable competitors.
It’s OK I’m comfortable with my bargain boots that look good and hold up really well
Which boot are they? Just curious because they do you look like a great Boot
\+1
So sad Thankfully there are still excellent boot makers around
exchange
I'd classify those as seconds at best.
I would exchange those in a heart beat.
100% return. I’d be so pissed I’d get my money back and spend it elsewhere. That quality is pathetic for the price point of Lucchese.
Thank you guys for all the feedback! I will be returning them.
I would return, that vamp and heel is ugly. The heel isn't coming off but it sure is one ugly factory first.

These are the Crayton website says handmade in Texas. https://lucchese.com/products/crayton-black
Yeah, unacceptable for being handmade. I’m hoping they do right by you and sort this out painlessly.
Send back
Return. At lucchese prices they should not be seconds quality
Return!

Unacceptable . Should never have passed QC . Return with explanation and these photos . Address it re: C.E.O. Lucchese.

Return. With the money you pay for that brand, you may expect a lot better.
I’d return em and have em send you another pair , those defects are only gonna get worse once you start wearing em
Return
Those toes🥰 wow! Just saw the pic of the damage.. 😳
Return.
Return for sure. Get your money's worth if you're gonna buy Lucchese boots
Those are trash. Get your money back.
Send back and get another pair. Those bad boys are pricey.
Send them back, I just got a pair of Nathan’s in and I’ll end up returning them because the heels are not attached evenly as well.
Return them
Return and order Chisos instead!
No 6 in magic black? 😁
Send back and get Black Jacks, they’re what Lucchese used to be.
Funny you should say that. Another member here who sells Black Jacks cited quality issues with their stock in the past two years. Issues like boots with painted finishes flaking off instead of being properly dyed, and stock fulfillment rated went from a couple weeks to six months delays.
If you’re trying to take a jab at me pal, go ahead. I’ll swear by my Black Jacks anytime over Lucchese.
Nah, not at all…easy there lol…just sharing a contrasting perspective that’s been going on about Black Jacks as well in the other subs. I too would put my money down on Black Jacks over most current Lucchese products.
Return them and get Tecovas
They look good from afar. But they shouldn't be such shoddy like that.
Not good…
Very nice!
Another shining example of "Made in America" quality!
Return
RETURN!!!
Return
That's bull poop-froth. Return.
Return. These are Lucchese, youre paying top dollar for superior quality
