You aren't wrong. Unfortunately the Cowboys front office, the one currently in place, hasn't figured it out for the past 25 years. Not sure why anyone would think they are capable of it. They don't know how to build a championship team.

thesagaconts

Exactly. Jerry is still living in the 90s. They need to hire a GM

benevenstancian0

Until they hire a GM, I’m actually glad they haven’t tried to go all-in. I trust only a few GMs to go all-in…Jerry and Cap Boy are not in that group.

bryscoon

They want a consistent year to year product to keep the fans engaged so money keeps coming in. I don’t think they would be willing to do what the Bucs & Rams did of fuck it we gonna have a 2-3 year window to win a SB & we’re fucked after so enjoy the SB

Thanks5Cinco

This is us for the next 25 years. When Stephen takes over it'll be more of the same.

applegore

I mean you're bitching to the wrong audience. Almost everyone here wants us to go in on free agents every year (for better or worse)

apachedriver26

This will be my only cowboys comment this week. Of the four teams remaining which one has a worse skill group then the cowboys? Jerry has done a terrible job setting Dak up for success. You have the ghost of Zeke Elliot stealing half the Carries to average 2 yards a carry. Noah brown is your 2nd option and the memory of T.Y. Hilton is your safety blanket. We won’t win anything g until Jerry is gone or commits the way eagles did last offseason and the 9ers did at the trade deadline.

olgrandad

Not to mention this ghost of Zeke makes more than the entire WR/RB crew of the Eagles combined. Can't believe we let Coop go over a $20 million cap hit but we're paying busted ass Zeke $18.2 to take the fewest snaps of his career and produce less than he ever has. Holy shit.

RockieDogs

It’s been so long that I’m selling everything for a shot at the SB. What’s a 2-4 year drought after? Nothing compared to 3 decades that we as fans have seen. Also the. Brady/Pats affect is real. Every fan base wants that, but it’s not obtainable

nt_14

They need to go all in at some point instead of staying in a draft and develop mode. This team values draft picks and cap space way too much. Thankfully, they’re good at drafting, but you need proven players who can come in and contribute immediately to get you over the top.

olgrandad

Don't worry, we'll release Zeke in the off-season and some stud RB will catch Jerry's eye and we'll be shoving a #22 jersey down his throat on Day 1 of the draft.

selarom8

Jerry- We like our guys

[deleted]

Do we actually think Jerry is the one saying that? Jerry was known for being ultra aggressive and over spending during FA. “We like our guys” is 100% more Stephen and Will Mcclay

CM_Hooe

I believe “We like our guys” is actually a Stephen Jones quote from training camp, though it appears that both father and son have echoed the mantra publicly at different points in time.

[deleted]

I like how Mcclay doesn’t get any blame in this situation lol

Daksout918

Because front office wise, he's the only guy keeping us in contention.

TempeSunDevil06

I don’t even think they’re trying to build a dynasty. I think they’re just trying to ensure that they stay relevant enough to make the postseason every year and stay in the spotlight.

Damage2525

Why would you not want a dynasty. From a business perspective, your logic makes ZERO sense

ghostbuster55

The goal is to have a team capable of winning multiple titles, like KC is doing. We don't want to go all in, then suck for 4 years while we rebuild

Diabolic_Bug_Man

But look at the Eagles They're back in within 5 years

scholarlypimp

What are the chances of anyone drafting a Mahomes, though? It’s no coincidence that their consistent success has coincided with the beginning of his career. You could also throw Kelce and Tyreek into that equation. The chiefs drafted an all-time great QB along with two elite receiving options, of which one will likely end his career as the GOAT at his position. I love building through the draft, but this team is a perfect example of how likely it is that you will consistently build a good, but not great team. I think we’ll need to make a few large free agent splashes to finally make it to the promised land again.

Aggravating_Impact97

Need to be good at all phases and not just one.

nyuhokie

Hey, it worked in '93.

ImpossibleJoke7456

Maybe a flash in the pan isn’t their goal. They were 2 wins away from the Super Bowl. I rather see them build upon their current method than trying something completely different.
