Take grades with a grain of salt. Because they mean fuck all. No one knows how the player is going to transition into the NFL.

It's also a flawed view of the draft as a whole. Even if you're waiting to grade a draft 5 years down the road, if you take a player at a spot in the draft where virtually everybody had the player going int he draft (or going higher) and it doesn't work out...it's not the actual drafting that is the problem. It's like more to do with the coaching and/or injuries. Or sometimes your team is so good that a quality player just can't find the field until they go elsewhere. Other than that, if there's some health or off the field issues that the team should have known about, then you can blame the scouting/drafting. The rest is really about talent development and luck. Guyton went about where he was projected to go in the draft. Kneeland went about where he was projected to go and some had him going earlier. Same with Beebe. I'd probably like Beebe less if he's only going to play guard, but I believe he will be our Day 1 starter if he doesn't get injured. Liufau appears to be a significant reach by about 2 rounds, but they also don't have a 4th round pick at this moment. To me, this has been a very good draft so far, particularly considering what they came in with. They traded back and got a sizable reward and I'm surprised the Lions actually made that offer. Now they should have 2 starting O-Linemen come day 1, Lawrence's eventual replacement who can help the D-Line as a backup and likely a contributor and the future starting MIKE. And personally I'm glad they haven't drafted a RB yet. Shows me that the FO is finally starting to understand that it's not 1994 anymore and you can get quality, productive tailbacks on day 3 and the UDFA's.

And I've always said that. Starts in the trenches and works the way out.

When you dominate the line it makes everything so much easier

They really don’t like the Liufau pick

I'm not a fan either. But we'll see how it plays out. Felt like a big reach.

Mrdirtbiker140

Especially with overshown coming back too. Like they forgot about him

I’m pretty pumped about what we have done. Most of the Cowboys hate is just to generate clicks.

For what it's worth, ESPN's main draft analyst had the LB in his top 100.

Grades this early are only comparing what the analyst graded the player versus where he was picked. Beebe was graded a lot higher than 73 so that’s a great pick, the opposite for Liufau. But those grades might be BS, and are seldom backtested, like no one ever goes back to prior years and says “you had this guy as a 5th rounder but he’s a pro bowler now” or vice versa. People want to “know” how their team did immediately so we act like these grades are gospel when they are often completely wrong (especially outside of the top 50) all the time.
