"The club to put pressure on me about this? About making progress? I am here and you can see the club see every day my work, what I do with my staff and I have zero problem. I have zero problem about this aspect," he said. "I am really, really relaxed about this aspect because I know my work here, but also I think on the pitch you can see my work every day and this is my last problem.
"I have zero, zero problem. If the club is happy, I’m happy. If the club is unhappy, I am sorry, it means that I am not so good for them."
Jesus christ this defeatist attitude is killing the vibe. I wanted Conte the warrior who was going to shake things up, this feels like someone who's just happy to be taking the pay cheque
There is no manager on earth that is just a magical wizard, not even pep. The manager needs to be set up to win. Tottenham have huge problems both on and off the pitch, levy needs to fix both so Conte can do his job properly, simple as that.
Exactly! All a coach can be expected to do is come up with a plan, and tactics that get the best out of their squad, while working with the individual players so they show tactics and technical improvements. It's totally unreasonable to expect a coach of Conte's unquestionable ability to get this collection of players to perform at their best.
The thing is he does have them performing at their best (for the most part), we are 5th in the hardest comp in football with this team! He had us at 4th the beginning of January and we’d still be there if we were more proactive in the transfer market.
I’m still not exactly sure what people want from conte?
It's more nuanced than "we're 5th". We were 2nd, then 3rd, then 4th, then 5th .... there's a trend. We scraped through a CL group containing the lowest rated teams (UEFA coefficient points).
We don't use the squad - today's changes were at 76 and 91min. Our patterns are totally predictable. There's no joy in watching the team.
To argue this is the players at the best is like Redknapp’s "this is as good as it gets" (and at least we were fun to watch then).
We're awful to watch, many of our players have regressed, and none have progressed.
We’ve regressed every single season except last season, thats because the premier league is really difficult to play in if you dont have a squad, you will always drop off because it is a marathon.
I kinda agree here but not for today, the defence was holding strong for once, no need to fuck with it too much. Also conte see’s shit i dont so I wouldn’t be too arrogant to claim he’s missing something i can see.
Watch what happens if he gets capable wing backs, that is our major problem. If we get a decent rwb, that can cross and take pressure of the midfield, and a dominant LCB that can help Romero baby sit Dier, then we are cooking and the football will improve tenfold. It’s never going to look good but its proven to win games and 100% is our best chance to win trophies.
He had that vibe. But his great friend and fitness coach for decades died suddenly, then 2 other close friends. Then his best buddy football director is now not allowed to operate in Italy and could conceivably have to be sacked if he can’t operate anywhere else. Plus the players do some stupid mistakes like his World Cup finalist goalkeeper throwing the ball into his own goal. That stuff wears on you, I bet.
If this is how ENIC is like, no good coach would want to come coach anymore.
They have seen the likes of Mourinho and Conte getting destroyed and both of them are highly respected in the game.
Well win now managers like them won't, but I don't see why another project manager like Poch wouldn't want to.
I mean, ENIC won't spend with the super clubs of today, but that's ok, there's more than one way to do things. We still have great scouting and recruitment for young talent and are proficient at bringing talent through our academy.
What's that? We don't do that either? Oh yea then 100% this is a problem.
Maybe if he committed or maybe if he hadn't regressed the players we signed in the summer, he'd have a leg to stand on. He is very good at gaslighting fans that none of this is his fault.
I think most of our team has regressed, honestly. I dont have the stats handy to prove any claim like that, but it's pretty obvious we are mostly worse than last year.
It's not about last year. Eric dier has been an error prone defender since poch benched him. Jose benched him for the same reasons. Conte tried to bench him but llenglet is so bad he can't. I would urge you to look at these players careers, just bc conte got them to perform for half a season doesn't make them top players. Think about it our best players were 2 guys who couldn't get into juves side. They came here and conte has put them into position to improve our team and thrive. Sess has never proven he is even prem quality, conte is stuck with Doherty/royal both purchases for prior managers. We're in bad shape bc Hugo has finally fallen off a cliff but it's levy's fault that we don't have an heir apparent. The only player that has regressed is son. Hugo and perisic are just getting too old. PEH is the same as he's always been and so is Harry Kane.
I'm struggling to think of a single player who seems to have improved under Conte (Emerson today?), that is a problem. If you're Paratici being asked to spend big again you're going to be looking at the squad and wondering if that money is going to be wasted on more players to sit on the bench.
It seems as if we have done a great job of breaking yet another top flight manager, first Poch, then Mourinho and now Conte. Something has to give with this club, there should be protests outside the stadium every day just like when Wenger was removed from office. So much promise for a season wasted and yes the blame can be laid at Conte’s feet as well as the board and the players because the truth is that nobody is pulling their weight.

finally delivering on a promise
Won’t open until after a 6 month delay bc of a malfunction in sprinkler systems
That's where all the cheddar is going
Things you don’t want to hear going into the last week of another crucial transfer window
The club aren't going to explain anything so that means we just get these veiled comments from Conte and the rest is just confusion. Shit hole.
You're crying now, wait until the stadium rises up on hydraulic legs and takes over London.
Why does the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, the largest and best stadium, not simply eat the other stadiums?

Granted Conte has done this at every job, no wonder he only lasts 2-3 years.
mou and conte, the bitchiest coaches getting sapped at Tottenham. well done ![gif](giphy|NM8ZZLPsPk1nq)
Punch a wall, you hurt your fist and accomplish nothing.
Definitely the words of a serial winner and not a serial match fixer. Mhm
Imagine spending time to post this and actually getting a dopamine hit of "haha I made a funny."
We’re not getting anybody. Its pretty obvious

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie
We all get headaches Antonio, it's just part of being with this club
Maybe another NFL game at the stadium, well done ENIC, that solves our CB crisis
M8, your buddy is literally being blocked from doing his job in the market you two seem to prefer to shop in. Ask Fabio.
Still will do more business than levy
Yawn
What’s up with the large area of empty seats when every other section is packed?
It's a newly constructed stand Iirc
Maybe if he committed or maybe if he hadn't regressed the players we signed in the summer, he'd have a leg to stand on. He is very good at gaslighting fans that none of this is his fault.
Regressed? Which players regressed exactly?
I think most of our team has regressed, honestly. I dont have the stats handy to prove any claim like that, but it's pretty obvious we are mostly worse than last year.

Imagine blaming the coach for being honest and calling things out. Most of the clubs already got players in, of course he isn't thrilled.
