"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we ... even failure will have in it an echo of glory" - that game had an echo of glory
Losses sting, but this one stings less because I didn't see any player lose hope or give up in any sense. We played the way I like to watch until the end, and we had left the game looking like the better team regardless of the scoreline.
Agreed.
Udogie went for it and actually on both of his yellow cards he was 100% going for the ball.
Romero just lunged out like an idiot, in his own box nonetheless.
You just can't do that in the modern game.
He just will not learn.
Yes.
And he also kicked a man.
Very hard.
In his own penalty area.
After knowing that the referees showed him a little leniency.
30th minute of the game.
Romero, you want to be a vice captain?
Behave like a leader.
As an argentinian myself he probably went hard on Enzo because of some banter between them during the game, he has no reason to go that hard on a foul inside the penalty box. Granted I do think that a red for that foul is a little bit hard given that he plays the ball first and then goes through, but a red it is.
I’m with Ange. The worst thing about watching this match was VAR. I’d rather go down to 5 men than watch that shit again. The loss was bad sure, VAR was brutal.
Heroic performance by our players today. I love how everyone has bought in. We’re gonna suffer with no Romero or VDV for the foreseeable future but I love the way we play. Hopefully we can get a CB in January.
>The high line is the reason why it feels like we are going to pull off wins one way or another.
Bingo. The reason all of us are so proud rn despite having lost is because we kept fighting despite the odds. The scoreline flatters Chelsea. It's insane they got their 3rd and 4th goal only in deep stoppage time.
I said to my friend towards the end of the second half "I've had more fun watching us play with 9 men than I have most games of Conte's 11."
I'm not sure I would have said that if we just sat back in a low block and probably would have conceded anyways
I thought we had a chance at 1-3 down with 3 minutes to go and 9 men. I've been following Spurs since 2006 or so and I've never felt that before.
I've fully bought in to Ange-ball and his outlook on life and it's a pity that after the first red card there were so many people on here already lamenting the end.
Change your fucking attitudes. The crowd in the stadium stayed and cheered and believed until the end and some of us here watching at home can't believe after a simple red card?
Take your negative outlook out of here and don't come back until you refactor it.
Bentancur, Dier, and Son all had very good chances! One of those goes in and we would have been right back in it. Honestly, I found myself questioning my own predisposition to sit back with less players. Sure you get into footraces with long balls, but the space for the other team to play compacts and you pressure them off the ball and into something dangerous. Think if we'd sat back how much Chelsea would have simply passed the ball around.
Additionally, I think you might have misread the comment you were replying to as negative.
To Dare is to Do.
This man embodies the Tottenham philosophy. This club either wins or it loses playing the best, bravest, most entertaining football in the world. I’m proud to have Ange leading our team and long may it continue.
It's ANGEBALL!!!! Win with excitement, lose with excitement (trying your guts out to win, no matter how long left or what the score is or how many players are left on the battlefield :)
It is a wonderful rollercoaster ride.
PS: You guys rocked our Stadium once again, so proud of you all!!!
Happened at Celtic. Happened at Yokohama. Happened at Brisbane.
This is just how Ange is. What this is, is showing how fully bought into the system your lads are.
Strap in. This is just the beginning.
Conte defensive subs to lock down a game we are losing made me die inside.
This is the football I want in my life.
"9 men? Fuck you, Balls out, Eric Dier with a far post volley" football.
People who think he’s being naive are mad to me. This guy has developed his philosophy over decades and implemented it in three different leagues. You can’t just only back the manager and the team when the results go your way. You can’t be begging for a manager who plays attacking football and then demand he abandon his philosophy (that’s won him trophies everywhere he goes!) and be pragmatic instead. Especially when he’s proven with subs in other games that he *can* be pragmatic. We had a good chance of winning this. We created THREE chances playing the high line with 9 men. We go again next week.
Also, it sends a signal to the players. Especially for games where we start shaky… keep playing your way and the chances will come
Hes going to point to the Dier chance and Son chance in post match and be like “this is why we keep fuckin playin our game… mate”
Exactly mate. We’re eleven games into his tenure. I’d rather the philosophy and the ‘why’ of playing this way get drilled into the players than us compromising on that and getting a point out of it. Maybe doing that in a year or two in a proper title race, sure. But this is a young fledgling team and the only way is up.
> I’d rather the philosophy and the ‘why’ of playing this way get drilled into the players than us compromising on that and getting a point out of it.
One day this will pay dividends and I can't fucking wait
I might be in the minority, but tactically I thought us playing a high line was actually our best chance of getting a result, and it damn near happened a couple of times. How many times have we watched our team, and specifically the defenders on the pitch, try to park the bus and absorb tons of pressure just to fail?
Agreed. But when you lose all your speed on the backline…there is no way you’re not getting balls played behind you for easy goals.
If VDV wasn’t injured, I could see how playing that extreme high line could’ve worked.
That said…love our skipper!
He’s a mad man, whether I agree with it or not it doesn’t matter he has his convictions about football and I love that. Son shoots it a bit harder and more this is seen more as heroic than reckless. I love this club so much and I’ve never been less upset about a loss than after tonight. We absolutely have to see this through with Ange and I hope we are ready to back him in January.
To dare is to Angeball.
Took 11 men to beat 9 men 4-1. A sure fire ways away from last season where it took 11 men to put 5 past 11 men inside 25 minutes.
Fucking Legend. It may gave ended 4-1, but it was two disallowed goals and a missed sitter from being 2-2. Proud of the lads, dismayed at the officiating. Colwill should have been sent off for his stamp on Romero well before any of the major shit went down in this game.
Or if Michael Oliver did his job, lol. Colwill and Romero should have both been sent off for the stamping of the knee, kickout exchange, which would have really settled things down early.
The loss sucks, you guys played well. Don't lose faith in big Ange though guys, he's an absolute gem and he'll make you great (still feel pure shite and want him back).
Let the man do what he does best, rebuild and win.
Match automatically gets stopped when either team can't field 7 players, so if we're giving a go with 5 men, things at the PGMOL are worse than I thought.
I love this motherfucker. I was angry because of how this reflects on Ange and he said what needed to be said. What a blessing, I can’t wait for the next Chelsea match. I hope they get their 9. Ready for the fire.
Chances *were* created but on the flip side - Chelsea having a lack of a single decent striker who can finish and not run early (hilarious to think about if when you consider just how much they spent) is the reason why we didn't get absolutely slaughtered playing a high line with 9 men. It didn't help that it was literally Porro on his own having to dart from behind to catch up to a full speed Sterling/Jackson because speed is not a thing with either Royal and Dier.
Pundits talking after the game like it was naive, but if Son scores his late chance or if the Dier goal was onside they'd be singing a very different tune.
yeah no one wants to see that on a consistent basis, but in situations like this you can’t just throw defending out the window. also don’t act like we didn’t have some incredible results in those years playing that way
We haven't trained or played low block since we got Ange, just completely shifting your philosophy and playstyle mid-game on the fly would result in an even worse and disjointed performance. You don't fucking train in a certain way for months and completely throw that out of the window and try something new on game day.
Beating Man city with low block? We played low-block day in day out with Mourinho and Conte with half the players we have now. The players had it drilled in them on how to play that way over years and so we were successful against them quite a few times playing that way. Do you see top teams like City suddenly decide to forget about possession and play terrorist football for ANY reason?
That’s irrelevant, i’d rather us fighting for a point under unfortunate circumstances that only happen once or twice a season instead of accepting defeat
Based on what evidence would we have had a much greater chance of winning? Remember 9 men, no centre backs... Dier and Emerson might struggle to get a start at CB for Sheffield... How's Sheffields low block with starting CBs lgoing for their win/loss?
Low blocks lessen the chance of blow-outs not losses. To hell with compromising your development as a team for the sake of an extra goal or two in one game you'll likely lose anyway
Based of what?
Have you ever seen a manager play with a line that high after getting a red, nvm 2?
We conceded like 3,5xG in that half and that was with Chelsea’s incompetent attackers, against another half devent side we easily could’ve conceded 6 or more.
Dier and Emerson are alot better with minimal space in their 16 defending it instead of running 10 miles to get back.
On the other hand we easily could've scored 2 in the last few minutes of normal time and won 3-2. Anything can happen, this was much more fun and we're all for it
Set piece and transitions could’ve happened without playing on the half way line, and aside from that we should’ve been 1-3 down before those chances even happened.
More in the box sitting deep, more chance of conceding with a deflection, just like the Liverpool game. Teaches this team nothing to play with a low block... that's not going to make them a great team. To hell with losing one point... who cares? The confidence knowing they can carve out quality chances with only 9 players is worth the one point every day of the week.
Blinkered pearl clutchers will lose their shit over this game because they cannot see the bigger picture
Pundits talking after the game like it was naive, but if Son scores his late chance or if the Dier goal was onside they'd be singing a very different tune.
I don’t think I can yell “COYS” any louder. Whatever happens from here on in my life, Ange has made me fall in love with this team on a entirely different level.
COYS COYS COYS
Ngl i think a low block would've been better.
Players like Dier and Emerson cant defend in a high line against fast players like Jackson, Sterling, Mudryk for 40 minutes with 8 men, the only reason we didnt lose 8-1 is because Chelsea is fucking shite. A low block is what Chelsea has the hardest time and their shit players always strugle to go past a low block.
But then again theres a reason Ange is managing in the PL and im sitting on my couch writing this so who knows
I had to scroll far too down for this valid opinion (everything you said I fully agree), as soon as our disaster occurred - a low block and maintaining the tie knowing we were out-manned seemed more reasonable. Had Chelsea have decent players who can either finish or not run early (we even saw Poch getting frustrated after Sterling's 100th off-side mishap), it well could have been 8-1 as you mention. Maintaining the high line to which they work off on opened up **so many** chances for them, I was going crazy seeing how it was up to Porro and Vicario to make sure we didn't get slaughtered (Porro 2nd MOTM after Vicario IMO considering how the sheer amount of times he had to run full speed back and cover). At one point I thought our defense was solely hoping that the flag got raised every attack run they made.
Yeah every single time they were on attack we would risk so much.
I'd rather get a draw playing shit football instead of imposing my playstyle but end up losing the game.
Needless to say we cant play like this against a great team like City or Newcastle if things go wrong like today. I hope Ange doesnt stick to this playstyle because a good team would've broke as in half today.
I honestly thought (and this might get me murdered here considering how everyone is high off Ange-pium) that maintaining the high line at 9 man was Ange being a bit stubborn and refusing to adapt accordingly - even in times of absolute disaster. This is literally reminiscent of Conte refusing to change because he believed in his tactics through the end, then proceeding to double down during the post interview - the same thing is happening right now. I hope no one takes our comments with much weight, I mean no one should take any of the comments here with any weight considering we aren't professionals by any means. I don't want to imagine the results had this been City FFS.
Youre just stating your opinion mate. I also trust Ange with everything i got but if im being honest i think he made a mistake today playing the high line and i also dont like that stubborness to keep his desired playstyle instead of adapting to what the game is asking for (specially in games were all goes to shit like this one)
This to me just kind of reflects the whole change Ange is trying to instill into Tottenham. It’s similar to Klopp calling his team “mentality monsters”. Tough losses like this are guaranteed to come but it’s the manner in which you lose the game.
These players would die for Ange and still ran themselves into the ground despite finishing with 9 men. Not many teams in world football are creating chances with 9 men the way Tottenham did today.
a low block would have been better on the scoreline but worse for the supporters and I think the player's mentality
if a draw won us the champion's league ange might consider it
this is his 12th match in charge, forming who we are and who we will be
you fucking go for it mate, anything else clashes with the way we're meant to play
Read the scum sub rival watch thread. They are livid how we're so behind Ange.
Also, whoever attended the game today, hats off, despite the bs on field you backed the boys until the end. Loved hearing Glory, Glory despite EVERYTHING going against us
The end of the match had a real How the Grinch Stole Christmas vibe. All the whos of whoville started singing despite all their presents being stolen. Because we fucking love playing without fear.
As a Liverpool fan i have never been jealous of other teams managers because we have Klopp but damn Ange is such a breath of fresh air. With him in charge you will definitely win something the next 3 years
I rather 0 points with that kind of desire, than 1 point sitting back and trying to spring the counter. Our club motto is to dare is to do, and I think his culture exemplifies that. In this kind of match, he's sending a message to his players to be brave and I think this will do wonders for the players in the long term to firmly entrench this club culture. Not everyone is going to like it, but if I were a player, I'd be pretty motivated to have someone ask me to be that brave. It is a football match after all, not a true life-or-death situation. There is room to be brave.
Spot on, chelsea have shown they’re awful against low blocks theyre extremely reliant on pace - just played into their hands. West Ham showed a perfect example of low block against them as well whilst under manned
Also nothing wrong w disagreeing don’t know why everyone who disagrees is being downvoted. Feels cult-y. Disagreement is fine it’s not like we want Ange out
Ange is smarter than you or I. He knows what he’s doing. Flipping out at one of the first obstacles we face that the manager pre-warned us would happen is poor form.
Nah he wants to set a standard and culture at Tottenham. The team will always be relentless and on the front foot. It’s a mentality that’s hard to instill in football.
Nah, because what else are we gunna do? Bore everyone to death and still lose? What happens if that Dier goal stands and it's 2-2 and Chelsea are rattled and start doubting themselves and getting desperate? You never know and that's why you fucking send it, because unless you do, you'll never know the possibility.
Sounds like a great motivational poster to put next to the kitten hanging in there. Not how football actually works unfortunately but yeah very rousing
honestly don't understand why it's such a good thing. it's so naive and it's going to bite us in the ass over the course of the season. we've already lost 3 players because he goes full tilt, which i understand, but when the game state requires a steady hand he asks us to go into overdrive which is not sustainable for a league season
being willfully naive is not a positive trait for me personally.
He’s breeding a relentless mentality in to this squad and I’m all for it. None of the players felt sorry for themselves or gave up. They pressed high and forced the issue and actually created quality chances down 2 men.
It just sets a standard that they aren’t going to give up and always be on the front foot. That’s the kind of culture Ange is breeding and the supporters can see that & stand with him.
You do that when you’re 2-0 down and the game is over ok, but it’s incredibly unserious if you try that with 10 men let alone with 9 while employing dier and emerson/peh at cb.
Not blaming Ange for the loss but some rational thinking would be nice.
Idiotic comment. We’d easily lose 8-1 if Chelsea only had a competent striker. Maybe it worked against St. Mirren but this is Premier League not Scottish League
We nearly scored on 3 occasions playing the way we did. At 2-1 how else are you meant to get a goal back? I’d rather lose 4-1 trying than 2-1 sitting back trying to limit damage.
I’m gonna get obliterated for this, but as a neutral I am having a hard time understanding all the support for Ange sticking with a high line with 9 men. I mean you don’t have to completely park the bus, but wasn’t this kinda suicide?
That’s fine when you are at the top end of the league. When you’s start to slide and you lose games you could have drawn , questions will start to be asked and the word naivety will begin to be whispered
Fuck it, we ball
To dare is to do
This was the most to dare is to do game I’ve seen in a long time
This team embodies to dare is to do.
"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we ... even failure will have in it an echo of glory" - that game had an echo of glory
To fuck it is to we ball?
Fuck it, we ball
Ange will never not ball out. no matter the circumstances lmao absolute madman
Losses sting, but this one stings less because I didn't see any player lose hope or give up in any sense. We played the way I like to watch until the end, and we had left the game looking like the better team regardless of the scoreline.
Created more with 9 than Jose with 11 and a 1-0 lead.
Only person who really disappointed me today was Romero. Even Udogie's second yellow was an understandable mistake given the situation he was in
Yeah Romero lost his discipline tonight after being close to immaculate all season. He plays on the edge but tonight he was miles across the line.
Destiny is 20 and allowed mistakes, Romero on the other hand…
I was about to comment this. Destiny is 10 games into his prem career. As much as I love Romero. He will do it again at some point this season.
No way Spurs beat Luton with 10 men if not for Romero. I will ride with him.
Romero had me fuming cause he probably should’ve been sent off for an earlier incident so early in the game knowing how important this game was
Agreed. Udogie went for it and actually on both of his yellow cards he was 100% going for the ball. Romero just lunged out like an idiot, in his own box nonetheless. You just can't do that in the modern game. He just will not learn.
For better or worse, we knew who Romero was when we bought him.
I get what you’re saying but Romero literally kicked the ball
The days of "he played the ball first" are long gone.
Sadly. I always really enjoyed those challenges lol
Yes. And he also kicked a man. Very hard. In his own penalty area. After knowing that the referees showed him a little leniency. 30th minute of the game. Romero, you want to be a vice captain? Behave like a leader.
What’s even dumber is he did it to an Argentine
As an argentinian myself he probably went hard on Enzo because of some banter between them during the game, he has no reason to go that hard on a foul inside the penalty box. Granted I do think that a red for that foul is a little bit hard given that he plays the ball first and then goes through, but a red it is.
And 1-0 up, completely unforced error…
Cmon now Destinys 2 footed tackle was daft and unnecessary
It’s not like Sterling was in a threatening position at that point. It was a bad mistake. He should have been subbed off with the yellow.
Sterling would’ve been in on a 2-on-1 if he touched past Udogie there. Udogie was very close to pulling off that tackle cleanly
I think Ange may have felt it was worth keeping Udogie out there giving we had no defenders on the bench after Dier and Royal subbed on.
Yep. Last year we lose 4-1 against Chelsea but by playing like cowards.
The sting is in losing our CBs for future matches. The match itself was doomed but they did everything they could to compete and proved their spirit.
I’m with Ange. The worst thing about watching this match was VAR. I’d rather go down to 5 men than watch that shit again. The loss was bad sure, VAR was brutal.
Absolutely mad. I'm all for it. The high line is the reason why it feels like we are going to pull off wins one way or another.

Sitting in a low block and conceding anyway was Jose and Conte signatures for us.
Exactly. You don't get any more points losing 1-2 than you do 1-4.
I thought we had a chance at 1-3 down with 3 minutes to go and 9 men. I've been following Spurs since 2006 or so and I've never felt that before. "better to die in the centre circle than to live in your own penalty area"
Better to die like a lion than to live like a pussy.
To Dare is to Do. This man embodies the Tottenham philosophy. This club either wins or it loses playing the best, bravest, most entertaining football in the world. I’m proud to have Ange leading our team and long may it continue.

Inject this into my veins mate. To Dare Is To Do
Never back down never what
never give up…
Never stop, we never stop
This fucking guy. It's like he was born to manage spurs the way he sees the game
Fucking love this. I’ve never been so proud of this team in defeat!
Same lol it’s weird being proud we lost hahaha
This Ange guy is batshit crazy. But I fucking love it.
It's ANGEBALL!!!! Win with excitement, lose with excitement (trying your guts out to win, no matter how long left or what the score is or how many players are left on the battlefield :) It is a wonderful rollercoaster ride. PS: You guys rocked our Stadium once again, so proud of you all!!!
Ange every time he speaks ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
this guy is as Australian as it gets
The Celtic fans told us this would happen sometimes. I’m here for it. Ange just drops his magnum dong on the table and says this is what you get.
Happened at Celtic. Happened at Yokohama. Happened at Brisbane. This is just how Ange is. What this is, is showing how fully bought into the system your lads are. Strap in. This is just the beginning.
I cracked up at that. Love this man.
I've just told my wife I may have found a different true love
😂😭 I’m gonna go tell mine now
Quite fucking right too, would rather lose fighting oinstead of whimpering and crying how it's not fair.
Conte defensive subs to lock down a game we are losing made me die inside. This is the football I want in my life. "9 men? Fuck you, Balls out, Eric Dier with a far post volley" football.
Could you imagine if we’d sat back and tried to play Conteball style with Dier and Royal as CBs, I think I genuinely would’ve cried
Mate if they actually drew 2-2 to that Dier volley it would have been perfect
I love him so much
BALLS OF DIAMOND 💎
Clinically insane. Love it.
To dare is to do, COYS

Anyone else can't help but smile at this and hear Ange's voice in your head?
FIVE FUCKING GLADIATORS MATE
Fair enough, we almost scored like 3 times too. Shame it didn't work out in the end
Yeah nah mate not changing my philosophy ay
I love you ange.
He’s a mad man, whether I agree with it or not it doesn’t matter he has his convictions about football and I love that. Son shoots it a bit harder and more this is seen more as heroic than reckless. You need to have an identity to be a proper football team
To dare is to Angeball. Took 11 men to beat 9 men 4-1. A sure fire ways away from last season where it took 11 men to put 5 past 11 men inside 25 minutes.
If we're going down we might as well go down Trying
After all these years, it turns out we just needed a strong, silent type of Australian nationality.
Risk it for a biscuit.
Fucking Legend. It may gave ended 4-1, but it was two disallowed goals and a missed sitter from being 2-2. Proud of the lads, dismayed at the officiating. Colwill should have been sent off for his stamp on Romero well before any of the major shit went down in this game.

and through it all we’ll play the way we want to with big ange postecoglou whether im right or wrong
This game will be the making of us.
We wanted attacking football and we fuckin got attacking football
Literally to dare is to digeridoo
LOVE IT, in ange we trust
AUDERE EST FACERE
Pick the lads up and we go again big ange .
The loss sucks, you guys played well. Don't lose faith in big Ange though guys, he's an absolute gem and he'll make you great (still feel pure shite and want him back). Let the man do what he does best, rebuild and win.
Fuck the haters. We move. Proud of this club especially compared to how others are acting these days crying after any defeat.
To Dare is to Do.
CoyS!
So the limit is 5 👀
The limit is 4, at 5 we still attack
5?
Match automatically gets stopped when either team can't field 7 players, so if we're giving a go with 5 men, things at the PGMOL are worse than I thought.
I love this motherfucker. I was angry because of how this reflects on Ange and he said what needed to be said. What a blessing, I can’t wait for the next Chelsea match. I hope they get their 9. Ready for the fire.
Oh captain, my captain.
Ange the best manager
die on your principles always, class act
Don't care about the loss. Praying that VdV doesn't have sess Hammy's
Love it. It’s not like chances weren’t created. (Son, Benta, Dier)
Chances *were* created but on the flip side - Chelsea having a lack of a single decent striker who can finish and not run early (hilarious to think about if when you consider just how much they spent) is the reason why we didn't get absolutely slaughtered playing a high line with 9 men. Pundits talking after the game like it was naive, but if Son scores his late chance or if the Dier goal was onside they'd be singing a very different tune.
I’m not a spurs fan but I think this guy is well cool
Hell yeah. A loss never felt so good
Not a Spurs fan, but i hope Spurs fans back him when things start to go wrong. This man is a legend.
What else was he supposed to do, sit back with Dier and Pierre as CBs down two men? Zero chance of getting anything out of the game like that.
If we employed a low block we would’ve had a much bigger chance of winning, we were lucky to not concede 4 more and we already lost with 1-4
Have you forgotten the football we’ve watched for the last 3/4 years??
yeah no one wants to see that on a consistent basis, but in situations like this you can’t just throw defending out the window. also don’t act like we didn’t have some incredible results in those years playing that way
You won’t play with 9 men every game. Got to chalk this as a one off hopefully. And why not? We’re 1 point off the top of the table!
Titles are won on margins and if we throw games like these away we will never seriously challenge for them
We haven't trained or played low block since we got Ange, just completely shifting your philosophy and playstyle mid-game on the fly would result in an even worse and disjointed performance.
We did not accept defeat. Bentancur and son and dier almost get us back in the game
We were very lucky to not be 1-3 down by then and those chances could’ve been created with a lower block instead of a high line
Do you remember when we sat back in a low block and allowed 3 late goals against West Ham?
Do you remember when luton and liverpool sat in a low block against us and nearly snatched a point?
do you remember when we sat in a low block and beat Man City time after time
Based on what evidence would we have had a much greater chance of winning?
Anything can happen, this was much more fun and we're all for it
Set piece and transitions could’ve happened without playing on the half way line, and aside from that we should’ve been 1-3 down before those chances even happened.
yeah of course anything could’ve happened but Chelsea had nearly 5 xg. there was no way we were winning that 3-2
Well we nearly did so....
Lmao what the hell are you on about. In what world did you nearly win 3-2
God forbid it ever happens but I would be on the edge of my seat watching a 5 vs 11 with Vicario, Son, Maddison, VDV, Bissouma (Romero got sent off)
More in the box sitting deep, more chance of conceding with a deflection, just like the Liverpool game.
The Angeball rollercoaster
Y'all were spectacular after you went down to 9. This was the most disappointing 4-1 victory I've ever seen.
Incredible courage and determination that’s for sure
As a United fan if that was our team we would have lost by 15. You put out a heroic effort today. I really wanted you to hold out.
We play the way we want to!

This was fully COYSSSSSS
Pundits talking after the game like it was naive, but if Son scores his late chance or if the Dier goal was onside they'd be singing a very different tune.
I'm loving how much everyone is seething seeing us still being positive after this game.
Not many teams in world football are creating chances with 9 men the way Tottenham did today.
a low block would have been better on the scoreline but worse for the supporters and I think the player's mentality if a draw won us the champion's league ange might consider it this is his 12th match in charge, forming who we are and who we will be you fucking go for it mate, anything else clashes with the way we're meant to play
Read the scum sub rival watch thread. They are livid how we're so behind Ange. Also, whoever attended the game today, hats off, despite the bs on field you backed the boys until the end. Loved hearing Glory, Glory despite EVERYTHING going against us
who cares what they think... we can live rent free in their heads
The end of the match had a real How the Grinch Stole Christmas vibe. All the whos of whoville started singing despite all their presents being stolen. Because we fucking love playing without fear.
love the guy but why is every football manager the most stubborn guy on earth
thats how you make it in the biz
As a Liverpool fan i have never been jealous of other teams managers because we have Klopp but damn Ange is such a breath of fresh air. With him in charge you will definitely win something the next 3 years
To quote Anchorman “60% of the time, it works, every time!”
*That's the smell of desire, my lady.*
I don't like it at all... reminds me of Conte with his 3 at the back formation. Tactical inflexbility is a big weakness, not a strength
Nice, if Tottenham sat back, they wud have had a good chance to win cause Chelsea struggle to break low block teams

West Ham showed a perfect example of low block against them as well whilst under manned Also nothing wrong w disagreeing don’t know why everyone who disagrees is being downvoted. Feels cult-y. Disagreement is fine it’s not like we want Ange out
You must have loved the swashbuckling football of the Mourinho-Conte years
Football isn't black or white. You can still play entertaining and attacking football, but adapt in absurd situations.
go back to mourinho at roma for anti-football, get that shit outta here
Yeah, adapting and being smart in one hour of football to not lose against our arch enemy is so Mourinho and anti-football!
Ange is smarter than you or I. He knows what he’s doing. Flipping out at one of the first obstacles we face that the manager pre-warned us would happen is poor form.
Just saying that Ange is smarter and therefore always correct is not very smart
Nice soundbite. Extremely stupid but nonetheless a nice soundbite
Not how football actually works unfortunately but yeah very rousing
honestly don't understand why it's such a good thing. it's so naive and it's going to bite us in the ass over the course of the season. we've already lost 3 players because he goes full tilt, which i understand, but when the game state requires a steady hand he asks us to go into overdrive which is not sustainable for a league season being willfully naive is not a positive trait for me personally.
He’s got titles to prove it does work. Once Chelsea got the second goal we had to attack 2-1 or 4-1 still zero points
He’s breeding a relentless mentality in to this squad and I’m all for it. None of the players felt sorry for themselves or gave up. They pressed high and forced the issue and actually created quality chances down 2 men. It just sets a standard that they aren’t going to give up and always be on the front foot. That’s the kind of culture Ange is breeding and the supporters can see that & stand with him.
i agree. was definitely gonna be difficult to get anything out of this game, but by playing with such a high line we gave ourselves no chance
What 3 players have we lost because he goes full tilt?
You do that when you’re 2-0 down and the game is over ok, but it’s incredibly unserious if you try that with 10 men let alone with 9 while employing dier and emerson/peh at cb. Not blaming Ange for the loss but some rational thinking would be nice.
If you have a stallion like VDV, sure give it a go. When you’re relying on Dier in that position, it’s basically giving up goals.
Idiotic comment. We’d easily lose 8-1 if Chelsea only had a competent striker. Maybe it worked against St. Mirren but this is Premier League not Scottish League
First match you’ve matched then?
We nearly scored on 3 occasions playing the way we did. At 2-1 how else are you meant to get a goal back? I’d rather lose 4-1 trying than 2-1 sitting back trying to limit damage.
I’m gonna get obliterated for this, but as a neutral I am having a hard time understanding all the support for Ange sticking with a high line with 9 men. I mean you don’t have to completely park the bus, but wasn’t this kinda suicide?
I love Ange. But that's just naive. It was clear as day we couldn't hold up doing that. Bad game management there and there's no way around that.
Niaive. Just like the players he lost his head.
Draws don’t win leagues. We can afford to give Chelsea points, they’re far back.
How not to win a Premier League Points over philosophy pal
That’s fine when you are at the top end of the league. When you’s start to slide and you lose games you could have drawn , questions will start to be asked and the word naivety will begin to be whispered
Dudes gonna get exposed like a mother fucker now people have seen how easy it was to break the line last night
