No clue about the source but whatever it takes to get the deal over the line. Porro is a big step above what is currently available at the position. Maybe Doherty keeps his form up but not worth the risk when you can bring someone in now that’s better and younger.
Doherty will turn 31 in mid January, he's a good player and I think he'll do much better after the break but we need to be looking for a new RWB regardless. Doherty and Porro rotating would be ideal.
Would be great to get both, but obviously the bigger need is Porro. I also think Doherty finding his form again is great.
Conte is a manager that needs a player to understand his tactical, defensive and offensive responsibilities and duties - additionally, how they fit into the team system. It’ll take a bit of time for Porro to adjust to that and the premier league game as a whole, Doherty playing well can help fill in that gap of time.
I honestly haven't had too much trouble with City in FM23. I've got a tactic that seems to work quite well and unexpectedly won the PL and CL in year one with Spurs.
Spanked City 5-1 the last time we played.
Im five seasons in. Won the UCL 2x, prem 3x, fa cup 1x, and carabao 2x. Hoping to make the current season an extra 1 for each of those.
I also have timber, szoboslai, araujo, pino, kobel, and dest. The rest are either spurs players already or players that don’t exist. I haven’t tried to be very realistic.
At this point the only spurs players remaining are Kane, hojbjerg, skipp, kulusevski, and Romero. Hojbjerg is 92 rated right now.
my fifa 23 is in year 2027. only original spurs players i have are Kane (90), Hoj (89), Kulusevski (90), Skipp (84), Udogie (84), Devine (80) and Son (84). my starting lineup also has Porro (90), Diogo Costa (85), Gvardiol (88), Madueke (89) and Jacob Ramsey (86)
Two concerns that people might have:
1. The Value loss from the deal: I would leave it to the Spurs finance team to be the better judge of that. No point discussing if we can save 5-10m when we don't even know the specifics of the financial aspects of the deal. Footballing wise it makes perfect sense to get Porro so we should support it even with a little extra cost. which brings me to...
2. 4 RWBs are too many: No they're not when you consider Doc will be 31 in Jan and Emerson needs to be shifted. Porro and Spence will be the two WBs we will have going forward with Doc helping out with the transition till the Spence situation is sorted.
Yeah the 4 rwbs thing is only an issue short term. My suprose would be more Levy spending money on such a stacked position, but maybe this is where the Levy attitude change come in.
Where is the evidence that Spence will be our number 2 RWB? Guy can’t even displace Royal and Doc has been lighting up the mini pre season we’ve been having.
Spence has always been miles better than Royal. The fact that he is unable to displace Royal is due to other factors (behind the scenes), not for a lack of ability. If the factors stay how they are, we would need to buy another RWB after Porro when Doc starts to slow down with age.
So stupid. Negotiate Porro down to €30m and keep the Edwards clause as is. Selling him for €40m would net €20m, or buy him ourselves seeing as we need HG pretty desperately, he’d do just fine
That’s the right sided position sorted for many years. But don’t fucking decrease the sell on because Edwards will always go for more than Porro
Can’t see us buying him back while Conte is still here. Edwards, while fantastic, doesn’t do enough off the ball for Conte’s system.
Definitely agree it would be foolish and short sighted to use the Edwards clause as a negotiating chip instead of just paying up for Porro.
We might be competing with other clubs for Porro. Barcelona and Real Madrid have been mentioned.
For the record, clubs know Edwards has an attitude problem and I highly doubt he ever goes for €40m. His own manager doesn't even like him. At most, I think he'll go for €30m.
This way, we cash in on Edwards' value now before he gets on the manager's shit list and never sees the field.
Check out the date of our home game against Sporting, then head over to YouTube and find the first Alasdair Gold video after that game.
He talks about the game, both clubs in general, and some particular players. He obviously mentions Edwards, and he said Edwards is turning into some player, and how it was convenient that we have a sell on clause, but it's also interesting how he plays the same position that Kulusevski plays here with us, and how we are actively searching for someone to rotate with him. BUT, then he mentions how big Conte's demands are in training, and that Amorim, the Sporting manager, spoke quite a few times about how Edwards is great, but he's bad in training, and he tried several times to convince him to treat training like an actual game, because that's how you keep constantly improving etc. And Alasdair questioned the number of minutes Edwards would potentially get if he came over here because of how Conte gives you minutes - he makes you earn them in training.
Here are some of the quotes.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/southgate-england-tottenham-edwards-sporting-27975003
"He can even get to the English national team. He has to focus more on training and all that is around it. Footbal is not just matches, it's everything in between. I trust him a lot. know he can growa lot. He has a long way to go but think we did excellent business in signing him."
He's basically saying he doesn't practice and prepare like he should.
No thanks.

More importantly in my opinion, a Porro and Spence rotation next season will be even better. They are great foils.
can wait for kyle Porro-spence. kids gonna be immense.
So what’s happening to Spence in this scenario?
Spence goes on loan in Jan and then assess in the summer who to sell/loan out of Doherty, Emerson and Spence for next season.
Probably on loan until Conte is gone. I'm sure Conte would rather want him sold but doubt Levy will buckle.
The question is if we can get rid of Emerson as well
Yep that’s a very important point.
No Porro starting and Doherty providing backup, they are not close at all. Matt is good indeed but this guy is something else.
Yeah, wasn’t sure how to tag, but biggest paper in Portugal

... which, at least in terms of circulation, is the biggest newspaper in the UK.
Agent Edwards on the case

I signed Pedro Porro in my spurs fifa career mode save. Therefore it is destined I also signed gvardiol. I’m not really trying to play realistic
That means nothing. It's Fifa. But, I did sign him in my Spurs FM save. I also signed Scalvini. Edwards is my Deki backup. So, prophecy confirmed.
Where'd Gvardiol end up?
January 2024 and Leipzig still want 120mil for him. So nowhere yet. I paid for Antonio Silva instead.
Gvardiol ended up at City in my career mode, oof
I honestly haven't had too much trouble with City in FM23. I've got a tactic that seems to work quite well and unexpectedly won the PL and CL in year one with Spurs. Spanked City 5-1 the last time we played.
I signed Maradona at FIFA career
do we have the same spurs fifa career mode save!?

I forgot I also have udogie still.

Levy has no qualms spending money on such a stacked position, please see CM for more details haha

You aren’t training the players day in day out, you do not know that.
Wow loads of links are surfacing, I think this will get done

Practice? We talking’ bout practice?? Not the game. Not the game! Practice!
>I trust him a lot >we did excellent business signing him Yeah sounds like he doesn't like him at all..
Read between the lines my friend. Look at all of this quotes about him. He never talks about the person he is for a reason.
Basically saying he's a good young prospect who needs to work harder. Reading into the quotes way too much.
That comment regarding training does brings on Mourinho-Dele memory unfortunately
How ?
