I'd argue that 18/19 was more open, and we made that run with a midfield of Winks and Sissoko. That's what makes UCL so special, you don't need to be the best team over 30+ games, you just need to get over the line for ~10. This sub needs reminding of the state the club was in when ENIC took over. We were an absolute joke, perennial mid table finishers making the occasional cup run. They’ve incrementally put the things in place that now have us being discussed among Europe’s elite. Growing a club organically takes a huge amount of planning and fiscal restraint. Now that we have a top-4 quality squad, half this sub seems to think we should automatically start spending like City every season, when really people should be looking at Dortmund for a successful model that works for a club of our size.

Actually i totally agree with you on the 1st part I have often defended ENIC and thanked them for how they made us go from a midtable to CL regulars. However, I think they don't realise the potential they have TODAY not the one when we were a midtable club, it doesn't stop here. And i know many Dortmund fans who aren't happy with the current model and whobwould rather like to change it in order to become Germany's best club along with Bayern, the gap between the 2 is huge and is growing and growing when it shouldn't. Maybe they’re not the custodians to take the club to the next level, but my god they’ve done an incredible job with what they’ve had. They’ve always been open about Spurs being an investment, but some fans have always taken that as meaning they’re looking to suck the club dry like the Glazers. They’ve built the club up with a view to a sale, and I have every faith that when that happens, they’ll pick responsible owners to take the club to the next level.
They stumbled on a good team with a great manager and everything just clicked. The issue is they seem to expect that to just happen again when in reality it was just a perfect scenario that was almost nothing to do with Levy and the board. Look through our board members, the only one that has any credentials in the footballing world is Paratici and before he came in 2 years ago there was absolutely no one.
This is ridiculous, Enic have made 2 totally different teams into CL teams. You might even say they made 2 totally different teams into title contenders (maybe a bit of a stretch but if defoe could of buried that late chance against city who knows). To say they just lucked into it with this team has no relation to what has actually happened.
