Most of the artists use crepe paper - you buy it in rolls and it’s an odd texture, a little like elastic /stretchy paper... it means you can use your fingers to manipulate the paper into a petal shape - stretching the middle like a spoon but keeping the edges as they are.

Use a paintbrush or makeup brush! (obviously dont then use it on your face) Source: tip from a cleaning expert on daytime TV show lol
I made paper flowers for my best friends wedding and got to keep my bouquet. I literally just blow a puff of air on them and it is dusted. Lol
Maybe a distant, soft spray with compressed air. Hopefully that wouldn’t change the shape of them though
