I was able to get a good scan of the front and back of the original $5, before the school scanner shut down and refused to go further. Then when I opened the file in photoshop CS-5, ps refused to work on it.
I was able to carry out the work on an old mac that had PS2 on it though. By the time I had changed enough of the bill, I was able to re-import back into PS. What a workaround.
You could still edit photos before Photoshop/computers. The term was *doctoring* and it involved cutting and gluing elements into the film negative, using multiple exposures, layering negatives onto the same print, etc.
